The translator's almost done, and Vonaiel does a test with it.
"Is it working yet?"
"Yes, it appears so!" Merlyn smiles at him. "So at this point it's just putting the rest of the words in..."
Zaquiel brings up a point.
"Some words aren't going to translate, though. For example, humans wouldn't need any words like [TRANSLATION ERROR]. We'll have to come up with new terms for things like that..."
"That's true, but it's true of any language and is just one of the pitfalls of machine translation... Which is why making sure you two actually learn at least one earth language, probably English, is still important even with this."
She hums a little. "So yeah, you can make up words, or have it translate to a phrase if that would work, or just use the nearest equivalent even if it isn't quite right. You're the experts here on what your language means, so I'll just provide consultation about the other."
"Well. Zaquiel's the language expert, actually. I was more interested in programming & sciences. The latter won't help, though..."
Vonaiel sighs.
"This goes against just about everything I was taught about the world..."
"Yeah, sorry about that... Things are different here." They grimace a little. "I'd be happy to help teach you how the *do* work, if you'd like..."
"Yeah. It'll be difficult. Some things do come together to produce the same results, though"
"That's almost more interesting than if they didn't..."
"I guess. Anyway, I'm sure Zaquiel can manage figuring out new terms."
They tap his horns against Zaquiel's
"Alrighty then..." they nod, humming softly. "Tell me if you need anything. Since the devices are fully built, I'm going to concentrate on figuring out more uses for that stuff Tonya gave me."
"Also, I think it would be wise to have something to disguise us as humans"
"I suppose that would be useful if you ever want to go outside the boundaries of OSHA..." she hums a little more. "Inside though, it is unnecessary. There's a guy here with an orange for a head, for god's sake. Humans are a minority."
"Someone with a what? Hm. Is the translator not working, or is it something that has no translation..."
"It's a type of fruit. Also the color which the fruit is." They open up an internet tab on the computer they were using for the programming. "Here, I'll just pull up a picture." They do so, rather quickly.
Both of them seem. Disturbed.
"What, is something wrong?" she looks at them, a little confused.
"That just. Makes very little sense... Is this some sort of joke?"
"Not a joke, unfortunately. I still don't understand how it works," she acknowledges, "But I've met the guy. He exists. And he might be one of the most outwardly strange-looking, but he's far from the strangest person here in terms of powers and background and other aspects of physical form."
"Hm... I suppose..."
Zaquiel sighs, while leafing through several dictionaries, running things through several translators.
"Yeah it's crazy here, at this point I just try not to think too hard about it unless it seems relevant to an experiment."
Zaquiel seems rather stressed, looking through several dictionaries. Vonaiel notices quickly
"You alright?"
He gently taps one of their horns to Zaquiel's
"You need any help over there?" Merlyn adds.
"What is wrong with this language..."
