Eva is at one of two West side Chinese immersion elementary schools, so the parents at both schools get them all together for a fundraiser concert that happened on Friday. These are all the kindergartners from Broadway and Braddock Elementaries, performing together songs in Chinese. Eva is on the right side of this photo, in the back row, her head towering over everyone.
Just some plate painting to make the scales of a dragon for an upcoming performance backdrop.
Eva’s school wrapped up Chinese New Year celebrations by letting each student try doing the lion dance!
Another picture from Eva’s recent trip to Great Wolf Lodge, the crazy hotel/arcade/swim park for kids in Orange County. Here she shows off her unique mini bowling form.
Eva’s teachers are on strike, so one day last week she got to hang out at Dad’s news bureau (inside a boring local government building). Good times...
The family recently visited Great Wolf Lodge, an insane kid park/hotel in the heart of Orange County. Inside the arcade, Eva hit the ticket JACKPOT.
There’s no snow in our part of Southern California, but that doesn’t stop Eva from sledding.
Eva’s not a huge fan of hiking, so we took our minivan as far as we could up this trail before walking to a scenic spot. Here’s the view of Downtown Los Angeles (and Mt. Baldy behind it) from Baldwin Hills on the Westside.
Everyone knows that “Los Angeles” is Spanish for “land of sand angels”.
New Year’s Day in Texas meant feeding Texas longhorns on a farm and riding around in a John Deere. Then we had lunch and ice cream in the small town of Fayetteville, which was so quiet the girls just wandered through the streets. Eva and Kate had so much fun, and they even got to name the new calves! I’m also so glad Eva got to hang with momma’s goddaughter, Marion Cass, the only blonde in her immediate family.
We did New Year’s Eve in Austin, Texas as part of a special momma-Eva trip to ring in the new year. This meant Eva got to meet one of Momma’s besties, Virginia, and her four kids. We all went out on their boat and got hot chocolates and watched one of the girls wakeboard ... Eva had an awesome time.
We did a quiet Christmas at home just the six of us (including Yani) and it have enjoyed our first holiday week in California. Christmas morning was really insane, as the girls got up super early, Eva was obsessed with using Google’s Santa Tracker in the final days to track Santa on a map all over the world, and reeeeally wanted an Anna dress, which you can see she’s wearing here, along with a new map puzzle she got from Oma and Opa.
On Sunday, before Friend Milo headed out to Mexico for his holiday, he had Eva and Isa over to bake Christmas cookies and do crafts. It was a super fun Sunday afternoon.
Eva had such a big week this week. On Thursday after school, momma’s colleagues at NPR wanted to interview her in studio about our old cat, Cheese, who died earlier this year. She met lots of coworkers, including producer Cory Turner, who goofed off with her before the interview.
Eva and Luna, Playa del Rey. Super cute.
