quick binding tips for people who are new to binding, as told by someone who binds (but is by no means an expert)
putting on a binder for the first time seems IMPOSSIBLE, no matter how much you think you know how to do it. don’t be afraid to ask someone for help the first time! it’ll get easier and you’ll probably be a pro in about two weeks
don’t be afraid to size up! i’m technically a size small but medium binders feel better on me and have virtually the same effect
your binder size might not be your shirt size! always check the measurement chart!!
more often than not your binder won’t make your chest PERFECTLY flat; there’s probably gonna be a very small bump and that’s totally normal! it looks flat when you put a shirt/sweater/jacket on
as tempting as it may be, DON’T EXERCISE IN YOUR BINDER!!! this is what sports bras are for
don’t use binders with clasps. use elastic binders like gc2b or shapeshifters (the latter can be realy expensive tho)
if you can afford it, have two or more binders that you switch out of because binders can get really smelly
don’t wash your binder with the rest of your clothes!! also, check if your binder is wash-safe
you can swim in a binder (and some are advertsied as swim friendly, just always check first) just do a size up from your regular size
in my experience, full tank binders look more natural at the beach/pool but that’s just my opinion and it’s different for everyone. just go with your instinct with this one and have fun
DON’T TRY TO PUT ON A WET BINDER! just trust me on this one!!! it won’t go well
don’t try to put on a binder when you’re wet either. just dry off with a towel and you should be good
take frequent binding breaks, especially during the summer
in the event that your binder gets wet: hang it up to dry! it might still be a bit cold when you put it on but you’ll probably be fine
DON’T DOUBLE BIND, DON’T USE ACE BANDAGES TO BIND, DON’T SLEEP IN YOUR BINDER!!! THESE ARE ALL SUPER DANGEROUS AND DO NOT DO THEM!!
