being the middle child between her sisters and the middle one between her cousins, andromeda had not been quite familiar with children until her own came into this world, so she could appreciate as few would the manner in which lily played along with nymphadoraâs glee, only enhancing the sentiment in her daughterâs little body, pride at the compliments making the young child beam at the red - haired as she imitates the adult in the promise. âshe quite likes the hair thing these days. watch her try to copy yours next time around,â andromeda remarks in a secretive tone, dipping her fingers in between nymphadoraâs bright locks fondly. âno, red is auntieâs ! â nymphadora vehemently enters the discussion, and andromeda snorts, tapping her fingers gently on top of the girlâs head.Â
âweâre fine, right ? i was not expecting to come around, but sirius convinced me somehow, and better to see him in hogsmeade than in st mungoâs, iâd say. but then, i guess he must have vanished with james, seeing as you canât find him either. iâve got a little experience with that myself â merlin knows where ted is.â last she had seen him, he had stopped to chat with amos diggory about a subject nymphadora had, unceremoniously, yawned at, which had been the perfect cue to andromeda to forgoe any shred of politeness to walk away. âsuch is the married life, lily. you will get used to it soon.â the mirth in her tone rises as she grins in obvious display that her displeasing was but a tease â andromeda had been shoved into an arranged engagement as so many others had once, but now, so many years later, she could not imagine herself stuck in a loveless match, and from what she had seen of lily and her soon - to - be spouse, they too had been blessed with a happy union. âhave you found some good deals here yet ? i fear i havenât seen much that could fit for a good house warming gift, unless you have some of honeydukesâ newer treats on your list.â which dora did, but andromeda was less incllined to.
Lily herself, being the youngest sibling, had little experience with children herself, but since starting training at St. Mungoâs, sheâ found herself to be rather good with them. Children flourished under kindness, and Lily had no shortage of that to spare. She gave little Nymphadora a wink as they locked pinkies, smiling fondly down at the young girl. She raised an eyebrow as Andromeda brought up Doraâs fondness for changing her hair, about to encourage her to try her hand at red one of these days before the little girl protested. âIâm jealous,â she told the girl instead, smiling. âI used to want to change my hair color when I was your age. Red can clash horribly with certain shades.â
She smiled at the mention of Sirius, realization dawning. âAh, yes, now that makes sense. If I wondered that those two might have grown out of being joined at the hip since we left school, I neednât have worried. Hopefully they wonât get themselves into too much trouble without us there to supervise,â she joked. She couldnât help but beam a little at the mention of her own upcoming nuptials. She knew she looked a bit like a lovestruck idiot, but she found she didnât mind so much She supposed she was one, after all. âSo, looks like nothing much will change for us then. Thatâs good to hear.â James had a ridiculous amount of energy, yes, and she was often running after him, but she wouldnât have him any other way. She was incredibly lucky, she knew, to have found such a great love so young and to be able to act on that love. Not everyone got that opportunity. She thought of some of the older Pureblood families insisting on arranged marriages, and couldnât help but be incredibly grateful for her lot in life, as rotten as the prejudice may sometimes be. She nodded. âThere are some wonderful deals at Gladrags I noticed, though Iâm not certain how appropriate they would be for a housewarming gift. I also have spent a fair bit of time in Honeydukeâs. I had to pull myself away before I devoured the whole store.â
