Is that JAMES POTTER we can see entering the Ministry of Magic? Our records tell us that they were born on 27 MARCH and are a EIGHTEEN year old, PUREBLOOD who currently works as a INTERN AAT MAGICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE. Some have said that they can be described as being FRIENDLY, YOUTHFUL & CHEERFUL, however, they also see themselves as being STUBBORN, FOOLISH & UNDICIPLINED. Apparently, HE look(s) a lot like MICHAEL CIMINO, whoever that is, and if they had to pick a side in the war, they would choose to JOIN THE ORDER.

Key information / Biography: I will once again write out a full bio at some point, but here’s really all you need to know about James. - Growing up, his parents were pretty lenient on him whenever he caused problems or got into trouble. They had him very late in life, so they basically gave him anything he wanted. James, thankfully, didn’t take this too far, though would often brag about his upbringing. He typically saw it as being proud of his parents, but no one else did. - In school, James was a trouble maker through and through, but most of it wasn’t his fault. Although he liked to have fun, James was smart and often felt like the pace of learning at Hogwarts was too slow for him. That and his arrogance is how he typically ended up getting into trouble at school. - He was determined to have a successful career like his parents and make them proud. Mostly, he stuck around his group of friends and his housemates, but James was also known to help out anyone that came to him, especially in his sixth and seventh years after he stopped being so annoying. - Fourth year is when he realized that he had a crush on Lily and that’s the year he was extra Obnoxious, especially towards Severus. Fifth year is when he became an animagi. Sixth year is when Sirius moved in with him, and is now an honorary member of the family - though James has always viewed Sirius as family. That same year is when he and Lily started becoming closer, though it wasn’t until seventh year that they started officially dating. - He has a very, very black and white look on good v evil. He also believes that he’s right no matter if he’s very wrong, which most people see as him being arrogant (and they’re not wrong) but he does have a pretty good sense for figuring out people’s motives. Although it’s clear that James, despite being arrogant and occasionally boastful, does have his heart in the right place, he just... is a bit obnoxious about it sometimes. - After graduating, James asked Lily to marry him. He specifically made it super cheesy and romantic. He also joined the Order, unsurprisingly to anyone, with Lily.

She’d probably be the first person to say that she was much more comfortable talking to her plants. Of course, that didn’t mean that she wasn’t social, because she was. She just wasn’t the best at it. But James seemed okay, and that made her feel a little better. Daisy had a habit of embarrassing herself, like she’d just shown, but she felt like James wouldn’t make her feel bad about it. Not that it would really change anything for her though. She rarely felt bad about herself. She just had that happy go lucky kind of personality.

“Oh. No no.” Not that she would have actually said anything if he had hurt her. She was too kind like that. But she wasn’t actually hurt, so that was good. “Maybe you’re both as bad as each other?”

James was one of those people that could talk to anyone about anything. He loved talking to new people and having conversations with people. James knew that he was good with people. He was charming and listened to people when they spoke. He was one of those people that could start a conversation with a rock, if they could talk back. That was one thing he loved about himself. Somehow people were very easy to talk to and always had been. As a child, his parents had paraded him around as if he were the light of their lives. Maybe that had to do with his personality being as bright as it was most of the time.

“Are you sure? Because I’ll take you somewhere if you need to sit down. Or buy you an ice cream or something.” He didn’t mind. James figured that anyone could use a free ice cream on any given day. “Probably. I suppose we probably are.”

As noncommittally as he could, Regulus just hummed. Their wedding was not an event he cared enough to celebrate, as he wasn’t close with either James or Lily and condemned James’ diluting of his family tree. But his manners had been drilled into his head with enough force that even his cruelness was often hidden behind a pleasant smile and an affable tone. “We’ll see.” It was the simplest answer he could give without flat out saying no. “That won’t be happening.” What had once been him missing his brother’s presence turned into disinterest and then into anger at being abandoned. Sirius was someone he couldn’t bring himself to hurt but the thought often crossed his mind. “The usual. Potion making, reading.” Waiting for his parents to set him up with a wife.

He knew that there were plenty of people that weren’t going to understand that he was in love with Lily. Too many people wanted the two of them to never get married. Plenty of people that thought he was ruining his bloodline. James had heard it all and he didn’t believe it. He’d never believed that. Personally he had always thought it was stupid and Lily was a better wizard than he was. Still, he wasn’t going to change the minds of people who thought like the purists. He could only try and be happy. James wouldn’t let anyone ruin his happiness. “Sure. Whatever you say.” What else was he supposed to say to something like that? “Okay, well... he’s around if you ever do.” James wasn’t going to fix their relationship. “Oh, okay. That’s nice. Maybe I’ll... you know, stop by sometime.”

Milo didn’t hate his job. In fact, despite often feeling just about ready to keel over he usually enjoyed making conversation and the opportunity to meet new people. Today was the same as almost any other day, he had managed to scrounge three hours of sleep before finishing a beer, smoking a cigarette, and walking through the door half an hour late for his shift. But there was a distinct lack of customers which was leaving him frustrated, and irritable. Time moved at a much slower pace when he had nobody to talk to so, when he noticed a familiar face, he jumped at the chance to actually do something. Abandoning the counter he was wiping over, it was only as he moved back to stand behind the bar that he realised where he knew the wizard from. James Potter, one of Remus Lupin’s friends. Immediately intrigued, he caught the man’s eye, offering him an easy grin. “Mr Potter.” He teased, with faux formality. “What can I get you?”

James hated his job. He felt like it was just a stepping stone to everything else. He had the grades to be an auror, but he didn’t feel like that was the right path for him. He wanted his time to be monopolized by the Oder. So he was doing his best to ignore everything he hated about his little intern role at the ministry. Maybe one day it wouldn’t feel like this. Though he normally had plans after work, today was one of the few days that he didn’t. He’d been in Diagon Alley picking out a present for Lily for no apparent reason other than it was a Tuesday evening. The Leaky Cauldron was one of his favorite places to hang when he wanted to talk to random people. Bars were the best place to gather information and James absolutely loved sitting around trying to listen into conversations and talk with people. He loved talking to people. “Please, Mr. Potter is my father,” he said with a laugh. “I guess just a shot of firewhiskey. I shouldn’t drink that much.” He looked around. “Do you know if you can provide bar services for a wedding?” He wasn’t sure if that was the plan, but James knew his parents could afford an open bar at the wedding if they wanted one.

“Probably.” It was her attempt at joking, but it seemed that even she hadn’t mastered the art of being ‘funny.’ The Slytherins had always whispered about them, of course; not because they were young, but because she was a muggleborn. Slughorn mentioned once that she was the top of her class, Gryffindor Head Girl, but a muggleborn. “I saw her, once. She was apart of the Slug Club, but I was never invited. Apparently you have to be good at Potions to be invited in.”

Her eyes moved back to the Shrieking Shack, the curiosity never quite rolling off her shoulders. Boarded windows, rusted nails, no open entrances and no plans of using magic. Something didn’t quite add up.

“How were you planning on getting in?”

“But I’m clearly doing something right if she’s still hanging around me,” he laughed. And it was true. Honestly, she likely could do better than him, but Lily loved him and that’s what mattered. There were a lot of people that weren’t entirely pleased at the idea of him marrying someone that wasn’t pureblood, but James had decided he didn’t care about that a long time ago. The people that cared about that kind of thing didn’t care that he was in love and that’s what mattered to him. “Yes, she’s pretty amazing.”

The shack looked like it always did. James was always surprised to see it still standing after all these years. It was built to look like it was about to fall over, but it must have been built sturdier than it looked because they’d never had problems all those years. “Donno. Figured there had to be an entrance somewhere. Guess I was wrong.” He wasn’t. There was a loose board in the back, but to show that was to show that he knew something about the place and he didn’t want to admit that.

Remus glanced over his shoulder, just in time for the girl to immediately duck and pretend like she hadn’t been staring. Remus felt his face growing even warmer - in a flush he would absolutely blame on drunkenness if James called him on it - as he turned back around, resting his chin on the bar in front of him.

“I think you’re more my type than she is, mate.” He wasn’t quite ready to speak his second deep, dark secret, even to his closest friends, but the alcohol made him feel brave enough to tiptoe close to it. Maybe it would end up coming out, by the end of the night? “Besides, how do you know it’s me she’s looking at, and not you? You’re the handsome one, remember?”

James watched the woman pretend like she hadn’t just been staring at the two of them and smirked at Remus. He knew people weren’t looking at him considering he’d entered the party with Lily and despite being drunk was absolutely still talking loudly about his fiancée to anyone who would listen.

“Aw, Remus, you flatter me,” he put his arm around his friend as he grinned. Considering how long he’d pined after Lily, he’d never really thought about who else he might be attracted to. Though he’d always considered his best friends to be more like family and hadn’t thought about any of them romantically. “Because I’m pretty sure I kissed Lily in front of her earlier. And anyway, I’m not the handsome one, that’s Sirius.”

Location: a muggle bar in Soho, London Open

The birthday boy doesn’t buy his own drinks, someone had told him, though between the three - going on four, as soon as the bartender finished up his next White Russian - cocktails, the loud chatter and the even louder music, Remus didn’t really remember who.

Tipsy and antsy, inhibitions mostly blocked by alcohol, Remus looked over at the person standing next to him, and grinned. “Enjoying the party?”

James never passed up an opportunity to throw a party. He especially never passed up an opportunity to party with his friends. Of course he ended up at his best friend’s birthday party. He was already several cocktails in, trying to feel a bit fancy this evening. James probably should be watching how much he drank and how much he was spending, but he figured that was a problem for tomorrow. Besides, it was his friend’s birthday.

“I’m having the worst time. You really should come dance with me or you’ll break my heart,” he teased. “Or better yet, you should go ask that muggle girl over there to dance. I’ve been watching her watch you all night.”

Daisy was a pretty absentminded person. She often got lost in her own head, and rarely paid attention to her surroundings. Of course, the only time she did was when she was in the greenhouse. Unfortunately, she was not there today, and probaby should have been paying a little more attention to where she was going. Sadly, she had not. Which had resulted in her bumping into someone. Luckily, she kind ofrecognised the other person. And he didn’t see too annoyed. Which was probably a good thing indeeed.

“Oh…. good good….” She mused with a little smile. She was glad that she hadn’t annoyed him, because that would have been pretty tragic. “I really should pay more attention. It’s a huge flaw of mine”

Although James usually had a lot on his mind, he didn’t consider himself to be an absentminded person. He actually was able to multitask pretty well, even with a lot on his mind. These days it wasn’t difficult to get lost in everything. The Order was always on his mind, even if it shouldn’t be. James thought that he maybe did need to pay slightly more attention to his surroundings. She didn’t seem to annoyed or upset for bumping into him, which was a good thing. James hoped he didn’t hurt her in anyway.

“No, it’s not a problem or anything, really. I didn’t hurt you or anything did I?” He’d have felt super terrible if he had hurt her. “Some people think I’m a human wrecking ball, but I think they’re just confusing me with Sirius.”

he notices his misstep before she can point it out, and andromeda’s lips stretch out in amusement, eyeing the line he is clever not to cross. “i wonder if there are any curses, or the tales are enough to keep people away. hard to believe your little group would have abided just by a sign, even at the loss of points.” though andromeda had always been a perfectionist, clinging to rules and duties and minuntiae other people usually ignored ( for how else to act out of them unless you knew exactly what the rules were ), such meticulous nature was not common on many, and she understood that sirius’ friends were confident enough to believe that any possible loss of points would easily be gained back, either that be through study or prowess — she had not been able to see james play, but the kid’s talent surpassed distance, and she had to give him that, even if not a fan of the sport.

either way, this was real life now, and if they did not care then, not much would stop them now. it does warm the heart to see the power the very name of his beloved could hold, and andromeda sighs, crossing her arms over her chest. “a ghost, eh ? ghosts are friendly, though. even the bloody baron had his days of chivalry.” he had, from time to time, tipped his hat at her, so that was to say something. “yeah, miss evans is very competent — and sweet. she will be an incredible addition to st mungo’s, we shall be lucky to have her. i’m not sure i’m glad to know she gets a lot of practice with you, however.” her brow creases gently as she looks over at him, as if inspecting for possible injuries. “she was looking for you earlier, actually. should we go find her ? you can tell me your theories about the shack then. i need to formulate a story to tell dora before she asks someone else and they tell her to check it out herself.” which the little fiend would do, if prompted, andromeda knows so, even if only in five to six years, when it was her own time to come to hogwarts. turning her furrowed face to the shack, andromeda can not help but to ponder if that wretched thing would still stand until then.

He’s just sitting on the fence, not actually planning on going and looking at the building up close. Andromeda doesn’t need to know that he’s been inside before. “I didn’t realize that it was illegal to sit on a fence though,” he replies with a grin on his face. “No idea,” he shrugged. He did know that there weren’t curses on it. At school, he wasn’t known for being someone that followed the rules. He didn’t see the reason for following the rules all the time. Especially since there was so much that he learned from breaking the rules. Wasn’t the pursuit of knowledge important? “I have never investigated it. Believe it or not, the sign did keep us away, though we did like to camp right here and divide whatever Hogsmeade spoils we’d gotten.” Okay, so that wasn’t entirely the truth, but James couldn’t talk about actually being in the shack. That was Remus’s secret, not his.

“Depends on the ghost, I think. If you ask me, I think what’s in there is a poltergeist that’s worse than Peeves, but that’s just my opinion.” He knew there weren’t ghosts in there. The four of them had been the ghosts. “I avoided the Bloody Baron as much as possible. He wasn’t good company to have around.” James laughed. At least Sir Nicholas was entertaining. “I don’t get into that much trouble, I promise.” He smiled and hopped off the fence. “You shouldn’t worry about me. I’ve been able to keep myself out of trouble for a while now. I can handle just about anything.” James personally thought that he was capable of most anything, though maybe it was a bit arrogant to think that way. “Sure, that sounds good. I should eventually find her.” He smiled at Andromeda again. “Oh, I don’t know that my stories are appropriate for children,” he shrugged, looking once more at the building before walking towards the path. “Just tell her it’s a building of ghosts. I don’t think there’s anything interesting in there.” Except maybe some chocolate frog cards he’d left.

it was a pleasantly cool day, though the sun had made a rare appearance, bursting through the clouds as she chanced a glance up at the young man that sat upon the fence. beyond him was a crooked shack with a supposedly haunted reputation ─ aynur would not know much about the building beyond that, seeing as she had not gone to hogwarts, but from just a brief few hours within hogsmeade, she felt as though she had heard seven different variants on the story behind the haunting. ❝ though if half of what people say is true, i would not be so reckless as to get so close. ❞ a pointed look is given to the other, muted concern knitting her dark brows together when she remembered how brave and invincible she had felt at his age.

❝ what is your take on the shack ? i have heard some wild stories. ❞

“Ah, see. Everyone should be curious. I think it’s cool.” James couldn’t help but keep a wide grin on his face as he looked at the shack. He’d spent so long with the secret that it was on the tip of his tongue as to what the shack was, but he knew better than to spill the place’s secrets. It meant spilling his own secrets and one’s that weren’t his to tell. James figured that if someone really wanted to investigate the place, they’d do so. Though they wouldn’t find anything interesting about the place because it was an empty building. Just a place filled with his memories and the memories of his friends. It was just a building with some ghosts, is the most common rumor. Perhaps that was right in a way, though it wasn’t exactly the truth. “Why not? You can’t get in it anyway.” Not true. If a person wanted to get in, there was one board in the back that could be removed and a person could squeeze through, but that was it. “It’s just a building with some ghosts.” He looked at her. “Why? What do you believe?”

It was a rarity for Daisy to be in Diagon Alley to be honest. She was more than often found in the greenhouses, and spent most of her time there. But today she needed to come into Diagon Alley to collect a couple of things. She didn’t intend on being too long, since she actually wanted to get to her green houses as fast as she could. But she’d ran out of a few stationary supplies, so that was what she needed to collect today. She was humming to herself as she wondered down the alley. She did like it here, even if she didn’t come too often.

She really wasn’t paying attention though. And so she nearly bumped into someone. “Oh… oh! Sorry!” She murmured with a little laugh. “I really should pay attention”

James didn’t have much time to be browsing in stores. Not when he had work and a wedding to plan. He needed to get all the wedding stuff squared away at some point soon. That’s what he’d ended up stopping by Diagon Alley after work, even if he was exhausted. If this is what being an adult was like, he wanted to go back to school. He wasn’t even sure what he was looking for. Maybe while he was here, he should pick up something nice for Lily. Dinner or something.

He wasn’t paying attention and felt himself bumping into someone. “Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t paying attention either. It’s alright.” James smiled at her.

Pandora never considered herself easily thrown off. She was usually good at keeping a straight face. Usually good at working last minute, and knowing how to react to things in a way that was socially acceptable; the word fiancée, though? That had caught her off guard. Especially considering James Potter couldn’t have been much older than her.

“It makes things easier,” Pandora said with a frown. In truth, she actually didn’t know how to do much without magic. She’d spent years memorizing different charms and spells, so much so that she wasn’t even sure she could cook herself a proper meal. But that was one of the benefits of being a pureblood, wasn’t it? “Evans, is it? The redhead?”

James knew that people would give him a look for getting engaged so young. He’d always been one of those people that did something because he knew it was right, regardless of what other people thought about it. These days, you never knew when you were going to get hurt. He knew that even dating Lily made people hate him and that was so stupid to him. James should probably be more careful about the information that he gave out.

“Well, yeah sure it does.” James thought he’d be okay without magic. He wouldn’t like it, but he’d get used to it. Magic did make things easier, though sometimes it made people stupid. He counted himself among those people. “Yes, that’s her. Prettiest woman I’ve ever seen. Probably deserves better than me.”

Lily tired to banish all thoughts of loss and death from her mind. They were alive, they were happy, they had their friends, and that was all that mattered. “Well, don’t you get any funny ideas about pranking me, Mister. I’m still not entirely recovered from the fanged frisbee incident of Third Year,” she joked. “But pranking you? That’s something I’ll have to keep in mind for the future.” She doubted she’d take him up on that; it wasn’t really her style. She much preferred gently teasing to amuse someone, and she had always been good at making people feel better, even without the help of jokes or pranks. Still, she loved that about James. They were so different, yet so similar where it counted. She smiled and nodded in agreement at his proposal. “I’d like that. Something nice and small. Not that your parents’ yard could be considered small,” she teased. “Just us and the people we love. Besides, it’s probably safer that way…” she trailed off. They were both aware of the target that their relationship and marriage would put on their backs, and although they were determined to proceed anyway, it didn’t mean Lily was willing to put their friends and family at risk any more than necessary. “Eh, you grew on me in the end.” She tried to shrug indifferently, but ended up giggling and ruining it. She nodded. “That’s one way of putting it. I prefer ‘my sister is a raging bitch,’ but your assessment works too.”

He didn’t want to think about all the difficult times they were about to go through. James didn’t want to think that someone he was close with wasn’t going to make it through this war. Right now he had a good life and it was only going to get better when he married Lily. “Hey now, I only ever did that to get your attention and clearly it worked if you’re still bringing it up.” Third year was before he realized that all his teasing and pranking Lily was because he liked her. “Since you have all the ideas, I’ll be sure to always be ready for a prank.” He grinned. Even if she never pranked him, he’d always be on his toes. “It’s not that big, so I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s not... that big.” Honestly, it was bigger than some people’s yards. James figured that fifty or so people would be a stretch on it. “Yeah, safer that way.” He didn’t like thinking about that. James didn’t want a large wedding anyway. He’d be happy with just his own friends, Lily’s, and their families. He didn’t want to think that something would go wrong because they got married. James wanted the wedding to be a happy event. “I grew on you?” he laughed, a mock offended look on his face. “I didn’t want to be rude, but sure, what you said is also kind of the truth.”

Oh right. The wedding. A blood traitor and a mudblood, nothing much to see there, unless you like the ideas of ruining a pureblood line, though Regulus didn’t extend much thought to blood traitors. They’d already proved that they weren’t worth the words to change their minds or the breath it would take to say it. “Should I assume my invitation got lost in the post?” It was clearly a joke, even if not all that funny. They both knew he wouldn’t attend even if he was invited. “Sirius and I are no longer on speaking terms.” But that wasn’t a new thing, Regulus had hardly spoken to his brother since Sirius left to live with James. There wasn’t much overlap with different years and different houses in Hogwarts and without spending the summer together, Regulus had stopped trying all together. “Haven’t been for years.”

James knew there were plenty of people that did not approve of his relationship with Lily. He was well aware that people thought he should be maintaining his pureblood lineage. Except he’d never believe in all of that. James wanted to marry for love. Lily was a brilliant witch and smarter than him in every way. “We haven’t sent out invitations yet, but I’ll put you on the list if you want to come. It’s just going to be family and friends.” He didn’t want it to be a huge event, which might be unlike him. “Yeah, but you could.” James knew Sirius would never admit it, but he knew Sirius missed his younger brother. He always changed the subject when that topic was brought up. Sometimes James felt like they both just needed a push. He probably shouldn’t concern himself with his best friend’s business though. “What are you up to these days?”

“oi, potter ! ” the tonks matriarch calls the younger out, a deep furrow in her brows as a form of rebuking as she sees where he intended to approach. the rumors around the shrieking shack had not been as intense by the time andromeda had left school, but all it took was the subject to be brought up in any sort of conversation that there were assumptions of all kinds, even by the most rational of her colleagues at st mungo’s. most times, she would rather not to think of it ━ she had not sought out trouble willingly when she was younger, and, now, that she had more responsability, that was almost an impossibility ( even if the curiosity did bit at her at times ). but she doubted james potter would change much, even as a ( soon to be ) married man to one of the most reasonable young women she had ever met. lily and her saintly patience.

“oof, i almost tried to deducting points from you now, i guess i’m nostalgic tonight.” she had done it before, unwilling to let others think she would let even minor misdemeanors go just because they were done by her cousin’s little gang, but it’s been too long since then. now, she knew him well enough through their common companions to know she had other ways to appeal to his conscience. “what for ? the house is quiet now. maybe whatever creature resides in it has decided to join the celebrations instead. come now, you can’t make a widow out of miss evans yet. i know far too many of her admirers from work for you to risk yourself like this.”

James turned his head as he heard his name and smiled seeing Andromeda. While they weren’t close, James knew her through both Lily and Sirius and he did respect her. He was always happy to strike up a conversation with her. “Hello, Andromeda,” he grinned. James knew that the mystery of the shake was probably one of those things that most people didn’t particularly think about. He was fond of the place, as strange as that might be to people. Then again, he didn’t tell people of it’s secrets. Of course he wouldn’t be investigating it as long as people were around to watch him. The easiest way to enter it was on Hogwarts grounds or the back entrance.

“Deducted house points? For what?” Then he remembered there was technically a no trespassing sign on the fence. “Oh, right,” he pointed to the sign. James always forgot that was there. He shrugged. “Don’t worry, I’m not going to go look at it.” He hopped off the fence and leaned against it, turning his attention fully to her rather than the building. “Oh, yeah, probably is.” He couldn’t help the huge grin on his face knowing that Remus technically was in the village. He’d seen his friend earlier. “I could handle a little ghost. Lily always patches me up when I get hurt, but you’re right. I shouldn’t risk it.” Even though he knew that the full moon wasn’t for a few weeks and he wasn’t scared of Remus. “Yeah, Lily’s pretty amazing, isn’t she?”

There was no way Potter could be that dense, he had to have been playing stupid. There were very few people Regulus considered intelligent enough to figure out the reasoning behind his words and James was one of them. He should know why Regulus didn’t like him and playing dumb might actually be worse than being too dumb to know. Frankly, he didn’t care much about the sweets, he just wanted to get out of the main road for a moment and now he was regretting it. “Of course not. Whatever the prize is, if I wanted it, I could buy one myself.” It wasn’t like the Blacks were stressed for money, especially since Regulus had grown up and stopped finding fascination in material items. Nowadays he liked the things money couldn’t buy: figuring out how people ticked and getting under their skin. He didn’t care about James’ answer, but the words were out of his mouth before he could stop them, “Did you?”

James had never understood why Regulus was so cold to him. Sure, he and Sirius were close. James had always considered Sirius his brother, but that didn’t negate his friend’s relationship with his own brother. Or maybe it did and he just hadn’t noticed it. Whatever the reason was, nothing could really be considered his fault. Right? He didn’t like to think about negative things though. “Well, yes.” He could say the same thing. “I could also buy them myself.” More specifically he could whine at his parents and they’d buy it for him; he was certain that’s what Regulus would do too, unless he was already making a lot of money. “I did. I have to start saving up money for the wedding, so I don’t like spending money on items I don’t need.” It was the truth, even though his parents said they’d help with a portion of the wedding, James wanted to contribute something. “Sirius is here somewhere. You should say hello.”

“You see me more than anyone else– are you saying you want to end up dead?” Sirius laughed, but he was fairly certain Lily would ax him if James didn’t make it to the wedding day. Best to stick with being the fake Grim or else he was gonna have to start coming up with excuses real fast. “When I get it together to move out of the fancy hell box, I’m gonna go way out of the city. I don’t get the point of actually living in London, given that we can fuckin’ apparate and all.”

Not that that was going to happen anytime soon. The fancy hell box was free, curtesy of Uncle Alphard, and Magical Menagerie didn’t pay well enough to be turning down free. It wasn’t like he wasn’t grateful, but he hadn’t exactly seen himself moving back somewhere so alike to Grimmauld Place.

Sirius did his best to shrug off those thoughts though– it was one thing to complain a little about his flat, but he didn’t want James to worry. “Could we even both fit under the cloak anymore? I mean, I’m not exactly as short as I was when we first started sneaking around.”

“Oh, I hope not. Can you imagine how awful that would be? If you really were the Grim, I’d have died years ago though. Which I mean given some of the stunts we pulled in school, I’m damn lucky I didn’t die.” While he didn’t regret anything about his time at school, he hadn’t exactly been the smartest when it came to not showing off. “I like my little flat, but you’re right. I’d like to have the space to run again. I’m sure Remus and Peter feel the same way.” Although at least Sirius and Peter could actually run around in London without it being weird.

James didn’t understand why Sirius felt the need to move out of the Potter’s mansion after graduating. His parents liked Sirius well enough that they’d have let him stay longer. He personally would have stayed longer if it weren’t for the fact that he wanted to start his life with Lily.

“I doubt it. We stopped being able to do that a long time ago. But I fit under it. You just need to find a secluded area to change into a dog and you’re good. And we don’t exactly have to sneak around anymore. We’re technically adults. I’m getting married. I have to at least pretend to be an adult.”
