Kian absolutely agreed to Evan’s end of the conversation. It’s like you look insane to everyone else if you go anywhere alone. He didn’t like having people looking at him like that. At times - he couldn’t help, but to go out all on his own though. Kian didn’t always have a friend to go somewhere with. “Sucks, doesn’t it? Judgemental fucks these days make everyone too afraid to go anywhere alone.” Kian looked to his new friend, and nodded in the appropriate places. “Doesn’t your Grandma like it? What’s wrong with you being a criminal defence lawyer? It seems like a good enough career-choice.” Kian relaxed back into his seat. “Good luck with them, buddy! I couldn’t do your job at all. It’s too much hard work.”
Evan tried not to let others bother him. He had mostly learned to ignore anyone else, but it was harder to ignore people looking at you like you were crazy for drinking alone. And it wasn’t even that he did it that often. It was just that sometimes after a particularly hard case, he’d like a drink, but that usually meant going on his own which usually meant he got looked at weirdly. “They just don’t know when to ignore it and look away,” he shook his head. “She thinks I shouldn’t be defending criminals,” he shrugged. “It’s stressful, but I love it.”
