-Mari wasn’t born deaf, so she knows how to speak

-As she continued to grow, she started to gradually lose her hearing until it was completely gone in her early teens (maybe 13)

-Mari is also very good at reading lips

-Her parents began to take her sign languages classes to help her better communicate and to start to integrate into the deaf culture

-Once she starts high school, she has a translator with her so she can keep up with her classes

-She is picked to be Ladybug, and Tikki has communicate by typing out things on her computer

-Tikki does understand sign language though, since she’s been alive for thousands of years

-Adrien/Chat is not blind in this AU. He does not know sign language

-But when he first meets Mari/Ladybug, he decides to self-teach himself so it’s easier for her to communicate

-He know that Ladybug is Mari, but she doesn’t know about Adrien being Chat

-Chat throws himself in front of her even more since she cannot hear where danger is coming from

-She gets angry, saying that he shouldn’t risk his life for her and that she isn’t crippled and that she wants to be treated like a normal person

-Adrien always practices signing “I love you” over and over everyday when he’s alone in his room
