Allow me to share a heartfelt reflection on my evolving perception of America, a nation where I was born, but one that I've come to understand and experience in profoundly different ways over the years. In the decades spanning the 70s, 80s, 90s, and well into the 2000s, a peculiar pattern emerged in America. Teenagers, often gifted a car as they turned 16, would find themselves abruptly leaving their homes at 17 or 18, compelled to navigate the complexities of adulthood practically overnight. This abrupt transition into independence had its consequences. Unlike today, where anxiety and hypersensitivity seem prevalent, the youths of my generation had a resilience and self-sufficiency born out of necessity. (Read more on my Blog.)

I thought as you walked fast by my side. You didnt spoke a word to me.

You seemed too busy and you won’t delay any of your perfectly scheduled plans for anyone, not even your sad mother. And it’s ok by me.

I wouldn’t want that. I hate when you say I'm pushy or too controlling. I just really want the best for you my son. Your happiness comes first. But I wish you would’ve not been told so many lies by him, or that you felt you needed to take sides.

Your silence, my dear child hurts in my heart more than a rusty knife.
