genuinely adore that belle is a bluestocking but they didn’t make her a stereotype. she’s not a wallflower hiding behind spectacles and drab gray gowns and utterly unable to speak up for herself. she’s not the type who’s never spoken to a man and can’t even conceive of marriage and romance. she’s bright and lively. she wears gorgeous, colorful gowns. she’s viewed as desirable, she partakes in ballroom dancing and knows poetry. she speaks her mind and fights for what she believes in. she never cowers from a man. she is romantic and knowledgeable and i just love that we got to embrace femininity with a book smart and strong character like belle.

dodgerfox from the perspective of the rest of people in town must be so wild, like. yeah the governor's daughter is seen in public arguing with the hot young upstart doctor like they're a married couple. yeah she's bullying her way into the surgical theatre and performing dangerous medical procedures with him as they make intense prolonged eye contact all the while. yeah he's always sneaking into the governor's estate and climbing through her bedroom window. yeah she just ran through the most dangerous part of town trying to save him from being hanged. yeah he's crashing out in the middle of the tavern because he can't be with her. just another day in 18th century australia
