How to improve your Daring Charming
A loong loong time ago when I first got this doll [Photo Story]
OK, let’s start with the hair!
I pulled off the plastic hair and filled his head with air dry clay, the wig cap is paper mache, my real challenge was the hair, don’t look for something yellow, yarn tends to go a little lighter when you make them into yarn hair in the end this light brown was the yarn I used for his final wig. If you actually look back on my older posts, you can see the different hair he had on.
I learnt how to make yarn wigs from Mozekito on YouTube, but a tip to start is to find 100% Acrylic yarn, because wool doesn’t flat iron well
The Crown is Ben’s from Disney Desendents, I prefer the sculpting on this one better. Cut it off at the back so It can fit him better.
the front thingy, I sowed on embroidery floss. And glued each stitch down. Sowing it trough the cloth help define the sharp points better than just gluing it ^^
The yellow trims are the edges of yellow socks.
The rectangle on his shoulder is painted craft fome, you can use clay or cardboard even, doesn’t really matter.
The collar and sleaves are neivy blue, but I used different fabrics, I used a t-shirt fabric for the sleaves, and the patches were made of painted cloth, with details stitched on with the same embroidery floss as before. Ribbon and trims were glued on.
And then I bought an expensive open end zip so I could still do the winter look if I want to, you dont have to do that. but seriously though that small little zip cost me $12 SGD =_=
I made a short sleave shirt, so it wouldent interfere with the jacket as much, Im also going to say this is his summer look :p
this sweater though, I used an iron on transfer to get the exact pattern, dont know if you can still find the pattern online… I think I printed a little too small though.
It was my first time doing this, I didnt know you need a hard surface to iron this on, and i ruined my cutting matt for this, so Im throwing the information out there for others to know lol
for the jeans though, I did make sort of a tutorila way back. [Here]
I really just got one that I could find at that time, it was Heath with the marshmallow. Made a tongue out of cloth and glued it on. Be careful though cos it ended up staining his feet a little..
Ive actually made it out of clay before, but since I like to redress this doll, the tongue fell out, and after a few times I couldent find it anymore haha.
@bj-lydia hope this helps you or anyone else out! In normal circumstances I would have never cared about this look, but his character from the show warmed its way into my heart and I had to do him justice.
I still haven’t worked on his mirror but EverAfterHighLove did a really good one [here]
