Everlapse Has a New Home

Today, we announced that our company is being acquired by Byliner, a subscription reading service and digital publisher of award-winning short fiction and nonfiction. Byliner's mission is connecting people with the stories and storytellers they love.

We are thrilled to be joining a company that, like us, is focused on re-imagining something people do every day. At Byliner, we look forward to helping people discover the perfect story for every mood and to building an incredible platform for telling those stories.

Get Everlapse 1.3

Our latest update to Everlapse is out today, providing a richer experience for enjoying individual photos.

We've blown up pictures so you can view and share them more easily. Each photo can be opened in a full-screen, allowing you to swipe though the full-sized pics to like and share them individually.

As you view a clip, just tap on the icon in the lower right of image to launch the new feature when something great catches your eye.

We've also improved the app's performance on iPhone 4 and 4s to provide a better Everlapse experience for all. Update to 1.3 now.

Gearing up for Halloween? Show off your costume chops by adding a photo to this fin clip. If you're still looking for inspiration, you'll find some great ideas here, too.

To join in, simply tap the green icon on the right and enable your device's camera. Then prepare to smile or upload a photo you've already got. Be sure to reblog.

Photos with friends

Here's a not-so-secret secret: Everlapse gets better every time you bring someone new into the fold. Share photos with the most important people in your life - take a moment to invite your friends to Everlapse.

Be sure to link both your Facebook and Twitter accounts so you're following all your friends. You can keep up with them in your home feed. You can also track what clips and photos people are interacting with in your activity feed.

Three tips from our team

As we've built Everlapse, our team has created some exciting features we want to be sure you're aware of. These are a few of our favorite useful tools.

The first is the outlines. Like tracing paper, using the outline feature creates an overlay of the previous image so you can align your new image when you're taking a picture. Turn it on by tapping the outline image in the camera screen.

When you add to a clip like Peaks, you can make sure your photo lines up perfectly to keep the clip rolling seamlessly through new photos.

Next up is delete. The proposition is simple: When you create a clip, it belongs to you. That means you can accept other people's submissions—or reject them. If someone adds an inappropriate photo to your clip, you can go shead and delete it. No harm, no foul. 

Just tap on the photo count below the Add button to view all the photos in a clip. Tap edit to select and remove ones that don't fit.

Finally, always know you can browse at your own speed. Is a clip too fast or slow? Scrub across to flip through the photos. In the app, drag your finger across the screen to move the images. In your browser, click and drag across the clip. Scrubbing makes it easy to find photos you love. Tap the heart to show some love and let someone know you liked their contribution.

You can also control the speed of clips you create. In preview, choose from slow, medium, or fast. Medium is our default speed.

We've been following street artist Banksy's October residency on the streets of New York, and today's painting sure got interesting. Would you call that an art car?

Connect Using Facebook in 1.2

Everlapse 1.2 is live on the App Store. With this release, we're throwing open the doors to users who want to join with Facebook. We've gotten lots of helpful feedback since launch, and one thing we heard loud and clear is that people have wanted the option to use Facebook to connect.

For those of you who have been awaiting this announcement, we welcome you to the photo party! We can't wait to see what you'll create with Everlapse.

Let "Bad Blood" Bind Us Together

As a team of music lovers, we're psyched to partner with Virgin Records and Spotify to support Bastille's North American kick-off. The album "Bad Blood" has had a huge launch here, debuting at #11 on Billboard's U.S. chart. 

This is an exciting first for us. We expanded our platform to include the ability to add the Spotify player, which created a way for Bastille fans to show the band they've got their backs — and each other's — all while streaming "Bad Blood."

Bastille has kicked off the clip with some fun shots from their time in Brooklyn, and now every fan can join in.

Want to be in the clip? Take a photo that shows you're a fan and add it to Bastille's Everlapse clip. It could be a pic from a show, you in your Bastille t-shirt or button, or even a selfie next to a poster. Hit play in the upper left to start listening to the album, then tap the green camera icon to add your photo.

Congratulations to Our Winners!

Last week we finished two fantastic and fun promotions with our partners. A big shout out goes to everyone who entered the Spotify contest and The Knot sweepstakes. We loved getting to know you better through your photos.

We had a two-way tie for first place in Spotify's #RockOut face contest, with Dale and Mayka both getting hearts from the community. Nice work!

The New Everlapse is Everywhere

Check it out. Starting today you can add to Everlapse clips from the web on any mobile or desktop device. We are super excited to share what we've built and to see where you take it. And trust us, we are thinking big, like every Olympics fan or every So You Think You Can Dance watcher big. 

How do you join our big thing? Just add to any open clip through your device's camera with a simple click or tap. 

A few of our friends have jumped on board to help us share the fun. Try adding your photo right now to Spotify's clip #nowplaying. Just click the + button to take a photo of you rocking out with headphones, authorize the app through Twitter, then write in your favorite song when you share the clip. Violà! You're a part of September's coolest playlist.

For those of you who have been with us since we launched a few months ago, we want to welcome you all over again. Everlapse 1.1 is so fresh it’s like a brand new app — and it looks fantastic in iOS 7. We’ve redesigned completely to help you easily discover clips to participate in and enjoy, and to help you connect with friends faster.
