how to help in Nepal
If you didnât see the post I reblogged earlierâthere was a catastrophic earthquake in Nepal. At least 1,200 people have died. Kathmandu was badly hit. Itâs a city of over a million people. Theyâre going to need food, water, and shelter on top of medical help and search and rescue.
Food and bottled water are already running short. People are afraid to go back inside and are sleeping outside despite the cold.
If you can donate here are some reputable charities, who are already on the ground helping in the rescue efforts. And if you cannot donate, please consider reblogging.
Oxfam
The International Red Cross & Red Crescent in Nepal
CARE
Save the Children
you can also donate to your local Red Cross in your country and you can often select to apply the money âto where the need is greatest.âÂ
When donating to charity itâs a good idea to check http://www.charitynavigator.org/ to make sure your money is being put to good use and the charity is not a scam.Â
And please feel free to add other ways to help.

On April 24, 1915, exactly 100 years ago today, the Armenian Genocide began.
The mass liquidation of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire was brought to fruition by the Young Turk government. At least 80% of the Armenian Ottoman population was marched to the Syrian desert and perished.
Turkey has denied the genocideâs existence ever since. Today, it is still an unrecognized event. Obama has officially stated he will not recognize it as a genocide to secure ties with Turkey, and many other countries follow suit.Â
On the eve of World War II, Hitler justified his own similar actions by stating, âWho, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?â The denial of the Armenians inspired Hitlerâs own genocidal Holocaust, and every genocide after.
For the sake of all genocide prevention, it is vitally important these injustices are recognized. The Armenians are not invisible.
Iâve got 99 problems and 98 of them can be attributed to poor time management and self control.
