i really like looking at my friends old posts and i wish i never deleted my first tumblr.
Man Iāve been doing so poorly with keeping up with this as a blog about our life here in Alaska but I havenāt done anything out of the ordinary lately. I applied at a bakery that I looovvveee and Iām praying I get to work there!! ⤠please send me love and good wishes because I really need a job and the bakery feels like a perfect fit.
I'm dreading driving back to Anchorage tomorrow. all to wake up early Friday to get my windshield fixed. after this I don't want to drive much. For real this time
pasta not smothered in sauce = pointless, disgusting, ruined
I love sauce! I really love the sauce Daniel and Morgan made tonight yummm idek what it was
I had jambalaya tonight for dinner and it had salmon, rockfish, and chorizo in it. It was sooo good. And it was gluten free! I just realized I had a pancake for breakfast though...
I got dinner tonight and Doug goes "thanks I didn't expect you to buy me dinner" and I was like "yeah I didn't either." I guess we could have broke his big bill but he's holding onto it for sentimental reasons I think.
The other day leaving Iskut we stopped at a gas station that was also a grocery store on First Nation land and I found some Dunkaroos! I was sooo excited until I was halfway down the road and opened one to find the frosting was hard as a rock and the cookies smelt like old play-dough. turns out the expiration date was over a year ago. it sucks because I know that can be common. And it also sucks because I thought that I got lucky and they still made/sold Dunkaroos in Canadia.
I am seriously soooo sad right now. I'm sick again and it keeps happening. My tummy hurts after most big meals I have and pretty much everything we eat on the road is junk food and some form of burger or sandwich. This happens on and off a lot but I've never eliminated anything from my diet to figure out what it is but I'm pretty sure it's bread. And it sucks because I love bread so much. But I love sausage and fancy cheese more so I'm not willing to try and eliminate meat or dairy right now. I guess if cutting out gluten doesn't work I will try dairy even though I don't want to haha. I know I need to do this because I've thought "hmm maybe I feel sick from the amount of bread I consume" on and off for a few years but it's like everyday this week at least I feel like my stomach is going to explode. Is rice gluten? i guess Doug and Lukas can enjoy my tamales without me š© I didn't have any dairy at dinner and that's when problems started happening. I literally can't even finish my meal at dinner bc my belly feels sooo bloated it hurts.
the speed limit in Canada is like 45mph everywhere. sometimes it gets up to 60 lol but surprisingly most people pass us and we do like 65 or 70mph unless its the 45 zone because those are on first nation land and it seems to be more serious there if you speed.Ā
also they have weird flavors for jelly beans like angel food cake and mint chocolate. i got jelly beans because i keep seeing Easter commercials on tv.Ā
Photos from Red Goat Lodge in Iskut, BC
today's drive from Watson Lake, YT to Whitehorse, YT
shorter drives our last few days and pretty views. We came up on reindeer 4 separate times today! I only got two okay photos though that I'll put on the blog that I hardly keep up with roadtrip-Alaska.tumblr.com (at Alaska Highway, Yukon, Canada)
oh also i thought i should tell you guys so you donāt think iām stupid
i know that the country is called Canada not Canadia. 6 years ago i was on a long plane ride from Ireland back to Atlanta. we had had a long day and my sister and i were at the point of being tired where we get really giggly and goofy. waiting for lift off she somehow convinced me Canada is a country and then theres a small country above Canada like where the Yukon is and above it where the land is breaking up and theres really only polar bears. well she convinced me that country is called Canadia. we probably had a 10-15 minute conversation about Canadia until my mind turned back on and was like LOL TF!? no. nooope lol she she got me. i like calling it Canadia now.Ā
Doug ate most of the cookies and didn't tell me until after we got back from the store and i took off my socks n shoes. šš
1380 miles to Homer!
I lost track of writing down how many miles we have done and how many we have left. So 1380 is all we have left. Tonight we are in Iskut BC at the Red Goat Lodge and i wish we could stay longer. Mitch, the owner, is soo nice and very funny! Heās a character. We got here and I had booked something online for this place through some hotels website and we drive up and he looks so confused. He didnāt even check or wasnāt notified that we booked anything but he was more than happy to have us! We talked for a good bit and he made us laugh so much! Heās really clever and he owns all this land and heats the whole place with his own logs heās cut down from him property. I love this place and it needs more publicity or something. Okay night! Lots of driving to do still!
View from the cabin we are staying in tonight in Iskut š» that's a lake behind the trees but it's all snow on top. (at Red Goat Lodge)
