Let’s talk about Bamon a.k.a. the best thing on earth after Sterek. I just realized how I’ve never once spoken about Bamon on this account (at least I don’t remember speaking about Bamon) so here I am, to talk about Bamon and why I ship it over Delena, why it makes more sense than Delena and why it pummels Delena to the ground.
Now, if you don’t know what Bamon is, we simply can’t be friends. No if, ands, or buts, we just can’t be friends. It’s not happening. I’m not even going to explain what it is, because if you don’t know what Bamon is by now, you weren’t meant to roll with the fandom.
Okay, I’m just kidding. Bamon is a ship that includes the breathtaking Bonnie Bennett and the devious Damon Salvatore. As of right now, they are just best friends, but maybe, hopefully, in the future they will blossom into something more. But let me stop talking and get down to why I believe Bamon is so underrated compared to Delena.
So, I’m not just gonna sit here and lie and say that Elena and Damon had no development just because I very much dislike and disagree with the ship. Delena definitely went through a few things to get to where they are now, but that does not compare to Bamon’s development, like at all.
Let me start off by saying that Bonnie absolutely hated Damon to begin with and Damon probably hated Bonnie as well, even though he was kind of flirtatious. Throughout the way, you saw them grow just a tad, saving each others lives and shit but honestly, nothing really notable. They didn’t really shine up until the prison world.
The craziest thing is that these two, while in the prison world, still didn’t like one another. I mean, they started liking one another but after a period of time. They bickered, and argued, and snapped at each other most of the time, but in the end Bonnie ended up picking Damon over herself.
They truly bonded over that period of time they were together. Maybe it had to do with the fact that they were the only people in the prison world (up until Kai) but the growth was absolutely beautiful. They brought the viewers humor and dislike that blossomed into a friendship that was so strong,these two were out here getting ready to die for one another. Wow.
May just be me, but I think that made their development more relate-able and understandable than Delena. Damon was always fond of Elena, but Elena hated him from the beginning and somewhere along the way decided that she loved him more than Stefan and I just stared at the screen blankly when that scene was happening. I don’t even care much to explain honestly.
But Bamon is more realistic, honestly.
The fact that Bonnie and Damon’s emotional scenes are just so powerful.
This is the best hug in The Vampire Diaries history. Maybe in CW history. Maybe even in the world’s entertainment history.
LOOK AT HOW HAPPY THEY ARE. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when Damon opened his arms for Bonnie. And the way Damon’s face just lit up.
And another scene that was just tew much.
Now when I tell you my heart broke, my heart fucking broke. Like, I swear I heard it crack. This and Jo’s death scene were the only two TVD moments that actually made me cry.
The evident hurt on Bonnie’s face, Damon being all speechless because he’s too afraid to speak, seeing his best friend like this. I applaud Katerina and Ian for this powerful scene because they just did it so well. The emotions, oh my God.
Bonnie didn’t even sob like Elena always tends to and I still cried. She was over here trying to hold back those tears and I just broke. And when she asked, “are we friends,” I was done. And Damon trying to crack a joke because he couldn’t take seeing Bonnie like this, he couldn’t take hurting her like this.
This scene got to me more than any Delena scene ever, even the scene where Elena cried over Damon because Elena always cries.
Like all she does is cry.
Like, you get the point. She cries a lot.
A Bonnie, Kai, and Damon love triangle would have been far more entertaining than the Elena, Damon, and Stefan love triangle.
This doesn’t have much to do with anything aside from the fact that anything Delena is so problematic and extra and Bonkaimon was just humorous and beautiful even though Kai attempted to kill the both of them but like, I forgive him, y’know?
Bamon is just too gorgeous to be true. They were endgame in the books and if they aren’t endgame in the show, I’m gonna sob.
They are amazing together and do well for one another and even when they fall off, i.e., when Damon was being stupid and locked himself in a casket, they always bounce right back up.
Damon’s love for Elena is pretty unhealthy anyways. I’m not just saying things, I’m being so serious. Like you shouldnt be loving someone so much that when they’re gone, you don’t trust yourself around the other people that you love.
Also, Damon technically chose Bonnie over Elena twice those two times he saved Bonnie despite the fact that letting her die would have brought back Elena. But he decided that he’d rather spend years without Elena than lose Bonnie.
ALSO, a lot of Delenas and anti-Bamons like to say “oh but Bamon is a friendship and that’s all it should be, get over it, omg.” BUT HOW EXACTLY IS A GOOD AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP SUPPOSED TO BEGIN? Do you want them to just meet at a bar and immediately start dating? Honestly. That’s the most ridiculous argument for why a romantic Bamon shouldn’t be a thing, like get out of here.
Now, before all of you butthurt Delena fans come at me, I’m not coming at Ian or Nina or Elena or Damon because I am absolutely in love with Nina and I would be with her any day of the week if she asked me to, but I’m just saying.
Bamon is love, Bamon is life.
