Show her some love here!
“The people decide the fate of a film not the reviewers.” - Mahesh Bhatt
It’s almost as if every other HAK review is influenced by another. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read that same old pun on the word ‘Mangalsutra’ - “There’s too much of mangalsutra in the age of kamasutra” or “It’s an Emraan Hashmi film. Give me kamasutra, not mangalsutra!”. Ha ha haaaaa STOP.
And then how in light of movies like ‘Piku’ and ‘Tanu weds Manu Returns’, there’s only space for progressive women characters? Please. Vidya Balan kickstarted this surge of women-centric films. Just because stories of progressive women are written today, doesn’t take away from the fact that regressive women are still part of society. Vasudha is as real as Vidya Bagchi.
I’m not saying that this is the best love story out there. But it definitely doesn’t deserve to be slammed so badly by critics. If this had been a SRK-Deepika movie, people would have lapped it up without questioning much. HAK probably has one of the best acting pools - perhaps why people had so much expectations for the film.
It’s reassuring to see that most audiences have liked the film. It does get cliché at some parts, and some dialogues are cheesy. But there are also poignant, intense moments. I’d say, watch the film if you like seeing good acting and are in the mood for a simple love story. The cast doesn’t disappoint. Vidya Balan in the last scene is remarkable.
But then again she always is.
