Listen, I love that Hua Cheng is revered as such a terrifying dude when this man is an 800-year-old virgin who named himself Flower, uses butterflies of all things to fight with, carries around an umbrella his crush gave him that one time, has his crushās name tattooed on his damn arm, and made rain an important part of his character all because it was so Pivotal to Xie Lianās downfall and rebirth. He gave no fucks. Heās in love with his gege, and everyone should know it.
Youāre amazing. You know everything. Thatās because I am always thinking about you. Thank you, Nagisa-kun. āKaworuā is fine. Ah, okay. āShinjiā is fine for me, too.

Kaworuās character development
I was re-reading parts of the Evangelion manga recently, and I just realised that after Shinji faints, Kaworu looks really⦠concerned and ⦠sad??????
ļæ¼That single panel on the bottom right is probably the most emotion heās shown so far in the story.Ā He makes this expression that heās never made before - downcast eyebrows, downcast eyes, a slight frown, a sigh from his lips. He looks worried, sympathetic, even upset.
And he does it again a few panels later (!!)
ļæ¼To put this into context, this is how he reacted to Asukaās mind being violated by Arael:
And this is how he reacted to Reiās death:
In fact, itās this insensitive response that triggers Shinji to hyperventilate and faint in the first place. Iāve heard people say that Shinjiās hyperventilation in the manga comes out of no where and is just a convenient plot device so that he ends up being taken care of by Kaworu. Well, no. His hyperventilation is triggered by Reiās death, and the fact that Kaworu mocks her sacrifice to his face.
But after Shinji seemingly has a panic attack and faints, itās almost as if Kaworu seems⦠sorry for what he said. Sorry for hurting him.Ā
Now for any ordinary person, feeling sorry for someone who had a panic attack is just basic empathy or human decency. But Kaworu is no ordinary person. Heās an Angel. Angels are portrayed as very solitary, individualistic creatures. Despite all being children of Adam, they donāt seem to be in contact with each other or working together as a collective, in contrast to the human characters. Hell, Kaworu even fights and helps kill other Angels, thatās how much of a shit he gives about them.
Thus, the Angelsā very drive is loneliness itself, to end their isolation by merging with Adam. Kaworu comes to live amongst humans for the first time and is immediately portrayed as completely apathetic and lacking in any kind of empathy. Kensuke even described him as ācreepy, completely inhuman.ā
In fact, he is fascinated by humansā ability to care about things outside themselves, albeit in a rather smug, condescending way. For example, look at the arrogant smirk he has when asking Shinji why heās so desperate to save Asuka. The idea of wanting to save or caring about another person is completely alien to him.
When he thinks of āhumansā he thinks of Shinji, the person heās had the most interaction with.
So far, the strongest emotion Shinji has shown him is anger. Anger when he snapped the kittenās neck in a āmercy killā, anger when he walked in on him in the shower, anger at himself when he couldnāt do anything to save Asuka. He didnāt, couldnāt understand why Shinji could feel so strong an emotion, all over other people.
That was until the Armistael attack, when Reiās emotions briefly flowed through his own mind, and he experienced, vicariously, her pain, her loneliness and most of all, her love. Her love for Shinji, that made her jealous of Asuka to the point of finding her hateful. Her love was the reason her heart was āfilled and overflowing with pain, hatred and distress.ā Feeling these emotions, he cried for the first time.
When Kaworu mocks Reiās death, Shinji doesnāt simply react with anger like he normally does. His body completely shuts down, his grief so overpowering that it manifests physically as well as emotionally. Kaworu no longer finds Shinjiās emotions strange or fascinating, a quant little curiosity of the human race.Ā
When Shinji cries over Rei, Kaworu feels it too.
Gone is the irreverent attitude, gone is the smug smirk. Kaworu is pensive, melancholy. He looks at Shinji as ifĀ Shinjiās sadness is his sadness.
I always wondered whether manga!Kaworu really loved Shinji or if he was simply obsessed with the idea of Shinji loving him. But after reading this again, I think that he probably did, in his own, strange way, even if he didnāt quite realise it himself. Kaworu quite literally did not care about anyone else - the only person who could affect him in any way was Shinji. No one else could illicit such an emotional response from him. He had literally been inside Reiās mind and experienced her thoughts but when she died he felt absolutely nothing. The only thing that made him upset was the sight of Shinji crying. Ā
Unfortunately, due to Kaworuās lack of understanding of human emotions, this āloveā ends up being selfish and destructive. Just as Reiās love had made her jealous of Asuka, Kaworuās made him jealous of Rei. Shinji cried over Rei, Shinji only thought of Rei, Shinji loved Rei. Loved her, and not him. After being rejected, he decides that the only way Shinji will love him is if he suffers forever for his death, just like he did with Reiās. So he manipulates the boy into killing him and dies happy with the thought that Shinji will never be free of the guilt. While Reiās love had been pure, gentle, selfless - she died in order to save Shinji, Kaworuās is cruel - he dies in order to hurt him.Ā Itās almost as if he feels Shinji must be happy with him or not at all. Is this real love? Wanting someone to be in pain, to be unhappy? Itās a truly bitter end to their story.
But the fact remains that Kaworu, who had wondered how humans could care so much about others outside themselves, now genuinely cared about what another person thought of him.Ā
His love had made him angry, jealous, vindictive, cruel, manipulative, selfish. But it had also made him caring, kind and empathetic.Ā
In other words, the love he felt for Shinji had made him human.
Oh hi. I did not spend all my free time this weekend just freaking out over iOS 14 I swear
im leaving tumblr again this site is so toxic i went from bad to worse bye
The white male style of debate is to antagonize you until you snap. Then they win by default, because they make up their own rules in which being upset automatically invalidates your argument. The key is also to argue about things that they have no stake and experience in, so they dont snap first. Of course in the event that they do snap first, its of course passion, not angerā¦
White people are like little kids who make up new rules and obnoxious powers to keep themselves from losingā¦.
At the end of it all, they are happy that you are so civil and can debate things rationally and clearly without getting upset. Everyone shakes hands and thanks everyone for being able to discuss āconflictingā viewpoints. Because after all everyone needs to hear the opposing side to truly be sophisticated. Even if youāve heard that side all your life and it completely devalues you as a human being.
What i hear is that the mark of civilization to white people is being dehumanized and taking it like a champ.Ā
They also have little to no concept of power dynamics in these āsophisticatedā discussions.
Why I stopped indulging people who followed this argumentative āformatā
This is so real and applicable to every dinner party Iāve ever been to
This is a particularly aggressive form of Sealioning.
Sealioning is the name given to a specific, pervasive form of aggressive and willfully intentional cluelessness, that masquerades as a sincere desire to understand.
Ā A Sealion is someone who, when confronted with a fact that they donāt care to acknowledge, say, the persistence of systemic racism in America, will ask endlessly for āproofā and insist that it is the other personās job to stop everything they are doing and address the issue to their satisfaction.
The purpose of Sealioning is never to actually learn or become more informed. The purpose is to interrogate. Much like actual interrogators, Sealions bombard their target with question after question, digging and digging until the target either says something stupid or is so pissed off that they react in the extreme. The other major reason why people hate Sealioning is because responding to it is a complete waste of time.
Itās an insidious trap. Responding to questions asked reasonably is, of course, a natural thing for people to do. I like to do it myself; educating others is generally pretty entertaining, especially if they are receptive to learning. Dismissing those questions can appear condescending or rude, especially if you actually are condescending or rude.
Of course, these questions are not asked because the person asking them genuinely wants to know the answer. If they did, they would do their own digging based on your statements, and only ask for obscure or difficult-to-discover information. This is the ādebate principleā. It is best explained thusly: When you go to a debate, you educate yourself on the topics at hand, and only request evidence when a claim is either quite outlandish or unflinchingly obscure.
No, these questions are asked to make a responder waste their time. It works, too; Iāve responded to Sealions before, answering all their questions and claims for evidence, only to be greeted by even more willful ignorance. Itās a way to force people into responding to questions phrased neutrally but asked in bad faith.
The name āSealioningā comes from a most splendid webcomic, āWondermarkā, by David Malki. Ā
It can be found here: http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/873260-sea-lioning
Sealions are just āasking nicelyā but they are asking questions that have been asked and answered fully many times, and are unwilling to so much as open a new tab to look up the answer, nor will they recognize the validity of your sources, your experience or expertise no matter what you do. It is impossible to satisfy a Sealion.
Make no mistake.
Sealioning is a specific form of harassment. You may not explain their inquiry has already been address. You may not cite a source. You may not refer to a previous answer. You definitely may not ever point them to a link. You must spend all your time and energy responding as much as you can to every little details of every innocent, polite little question they ask. Sealioning isnāt a sincere attempt at anything. Itās a calculated technique to grind an opponent down.

What we today call Tunisia was conquered by the Arabs in 647 CE. Although the Arabs initially unified North Africa, by 1230 a separate Tunisian dynasty had been established by the įø¤afį¹£ids. They were Amazigh (Berber). įø¤afį¹£id rule saw the development of the Maliki school of law in the region. One of the four major schools of law in Sunni Islam, it stresses local community practices and relying on tradition and analogical reasoning over the relatively newer hadiths, or sayings of the prophet. Under the Hafsids, the belief of Maliki as the basis of social life took hold in Tunisian society. It is still the major school of thought in Northern Africa.Ā The Hafsidsā other major legacy is making Tunis the capital of their domain.
