Cabin In The Woods | Adrian & Evangeline
He did not want nor expect visitors at all hours of the night. It seemed, however, that this was what he was cursed to have. Another nightmare had plagued his sleep, regardless, and he had only just gotten up and cleaned himself from the foul nausea that had soured his stomach. It wasn’t as much trouble as Adrian wanted it to be.
Listening, momentarily to the heavy rain in the darkness outside his chilly cabin, the young Cajun man stood in his tanktop and shorts, holding himself in idly, empty thought. He felt irritation in his spine that someone had found his home. Maybe if he waited long enough, they would go away.
But he heard the knock again, the quick rap of someone caught in the rain in the Hanging Woods, and with a dark sigh and a swear in French, he strode forward, taking up his shotgun.
He opened up the door, just a crack, peering through it.
“C’n I ‘elp you?”
The screaming at the inn had become too much for Evangeline to handle. While she liked to think - no, liked knowing - that she was a strong girl, there was only so much even the strongest could handle. And tonight, as her father screamed at her for daring to find some money on the ground and his spittle hitting her face as he did so, she just couldn't deal with it.
She ran out into the rain, not caring if it soaked her to the bone and started off towards the woods. It was the only place that she could go to be truly alone when she needed it. She shivered slightly as the rain pressed her shirt against her body, letting her truly embrace the chilliness that it brought. She saw a flash of lightning that illuminated Adrian's house and she stopped for a second before turning and making her over to it. She knocked once, hoping that he would be awake to answer it.
When he didn't, she knocked again, only louder and she was just about to turn and find some other form of shelter when she saw the door crack just slightly.
"I needed somewhere to go," she said nonchalantly before looking up at him.
