As if for the first time | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Months had passed since Hyoyeon had taken the courageous decision to leave the circus to go chase after the man she'd fallen in love with. A fact which by now she was able to admit without hesitation or embarrassment. However, a few emotional encounters between herself and the male had taken place before she'd been convinced of the same being true in return. Or well, perhaps not love as she felt it for him, but something. And something worked for her, even with Daesung's occasional lack of care or interest. Even with nothing of the sorts ever leaving his lips. And so she had settled into life in the house with him and their two friend - Yunho and Ara. Hyoyeon had come to like the other woman even more over time, helping her along when the other had gotten a job offer from a modelling agency, and generally allowing the younger to talk about her life with her, like girlfriends tended to do.
Somewhere mid-December, Hyoyeon had found herself a part-time job at a second hand store, returning to a past she hadn't ever thought to visit again but finding it more enjoyable than she would have thought. Going through all the delivered items and sorting them by 'good enough' or 'too bad to even give to beggars', it wasn't strange for her to pick stuff out for herself and return home at the end of the day with a set of new clothes and accessories that in due time started to be spread around the house, decorating it with little things that she knew all four of them would appreciate having around. So nothing pink or too girly, but things like a clock, a CD player, a blanket here, a little carpet for the bathroom there, and other things like that. She of course washed everything decently first before putting it to use, thereby clearing any possible lingering presence from the previous owners and claiming the items as hers completely.
And she lived like that, making a home out of the house and making sure all its inhabitants would like it. With Ara off on shoots more often, Hyoyeon mostly took on the household jobs and made the food, not having anything against it. Every so often when Daesung got it in his head to try something on her, the others might come home or wake up to find the two of them chasing each other around the house, Hyoyeon occasionally sporting a dangerously held up frying pan, Daesung usually showcasing a big grin. But whatever stunt it was that he pulled, Hyoyeon would always end up climbing in bed next to him when it was time to sleep and she would always look at him for a while in the semi-darkness with eyes filled with love whenever he would have his eyes closed and not see her expression. Because all those things he did made him who he was and that was exactly who she'd fallen in love with.
So by the time Valentine's Day came into the picture, Hyoyeon had placed him so solidly on that spot next to her in her life that she couldn't even think of leaving, nor could she think of returning to a life where all they were was members of the same cottage. But she did remember the previous few times she'd gotten him chocolates or cookies for Valentine's Day and could not help but feel like this would be the first Valentine's Day for them regardless of those memories. Still it would not be a lovey-dovey one as she might imagine it to be, for that she knew him too well. But she'd make it nice in her own way. She'd made sure to get herself a day off from her job that day and so could spend the whole of the day together with him, or just simply at home if he wanted time for himself. And so it started with the card that she handed over to him in the morning after they woke up.
It was signed with nothing more than her name and Hyoyeon had specifically chosen this one because she knew there was nothing in the Valentine's arsenal that would even remotely fit Daesung's taste. Besides, she didn't want him feeling uncomfortable or have him run off again on a day like this where all she wanted was to make things nice for him. What would follow after the hopefully positive response to the card was a neat box that held an expensive enough watch - one she hadn't gotten from the second hand store for once but actually bought as new because she knew Daesung wasn't a big fan of wearing other people's used stuff.
Another gift revealed a T-shirt she had seen in this or that store that had made her laugh so hard simply thinking of Daesung wearing - and using - it that she'd bought it on an impulse.
Her last gift to him was a lighter with his name and the year 2014 engraved on it. A gift to him she'd been doubting for a while but since a necklace or bracelet was just not something she thought he might want to accept from her, she'd gotten him the lighter. Because despite her dislike of his habit, he tended to smoke every now and again and there was nothing she could do about it. Except tell him to get a mint or a chewing gum after so she wouldn't be kissing an ashtray. It was one of those rules she'd wordlessly put between them; whenever his mouth would taste or smell of cigarettes, she would not accept any kisses from him. Alcohol was fine, even when he would be drunk as a front door, but she drew the line at tobacco.
Having given him all the gifts she had for him without really saying anything - although she did make a small comment on the shirt because it was just too awesome not to - she then asked him what he wanted to eat and went on that day to prepare whatever he wanted to have for breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, not caring if she would have to make ten trips to the store that day to make sure she had the things he wanted. Spending the rest of the day going on a walk, visiting a gaming arcade -where she actually paid for everything rather than letting him steal the coins to work the machines- allowing him to snatch whatever he wanted to snatch wherever else they went and eventually spending the evening eating in front of the television, taking a shower together and then possibly revisiting their morning scene in the bedroom, Hyoyeon did her best to make sure Daesung enjoyed his day and did not get bored at any moment. Unless, of course, when she was busy making his food as those were times where he had to somehow find a way to entertain himself, even if it was by gaming.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Even though Daesung hated silences, the one that had settled between him and Hyoyeon didn’t feel that bad. But luckily for him the silence didn’t last that long either and this time around it even wasn’t him who broke it. Listening to what Hyoyeon told him, Daesung kept his eyes on her face and although he thought that she was talking in riddles because he actually didn’t really understand what she was trying to tell him, the male managed to keep his mouth shut and to let her finish saying what she, apparently, wanted from him. Finding the whole… thing… pretty weird and entirely unnecessary in the end because of course he was him and of course he was acting like himself. How was he supposed to act like someone else anyway? Frowning at her when she was done with her ‘speech’ Daesung stated the first thing that came on his mind. “That’s it?” He questioned as he looked kind of incredulous up at her. Still finding that she didn’t made sense at all, but when did women made sense to begin with after all? They just had too many feelings and other things in their heart and mind to… act normal.
When Hyoyeon started to laugh his frown deepened as he thought that she was acting very weird right now. “Weird.” He therefore stated when she answered his words and told him once more that ‘this’ was exactly what she wanted him to do. Huffing because once again he thought of her whole ‘speech’ as unnecessary he opened his mouth to tell her exactly that, but got interrupted by her when she once again stated those dreaded words. Even though they were spoken more loosely than before, they still touched him to his deepest core. And where she was smiling happily down at him, he answered her smile with a neutral and empty expression of his own. Not being able to communicate with her like that, Daesung allowed Hyoyeon to take hold of his face and to kiss him. Feeling how their lips once again met each other, Daesung moved his arms so he could put his hands on Hyoyeon’s side to keep her close to him and kiss her back. That he could do.
Eventually ending up with pulling her against his chest, he only allowed her to break the kiss after a little while and once he had allowed her to break it, he let out a slight but content rumble as he gently urged her to put her head down on his chest by putting a hand on her head. “Wanna watch some TV?” He then questioned her, waiting for her reply -which consisted out of a nod- he easily duplicated himself once so the duplicate could go and find the remote and then put on the TV.
Every tense feeling inside of her combined together to instantly drop down into nothingness at his words and the anticlimax of the whole situation was so sudden that all Hyoyeon could do was laugh at it. "That. Exactly that," she told him, because that was indeed what she loved so much about him and what she wanted from him. Amusement as well as relief bubbled up inside of her and she looked at this male who had reduced everything she had tried to say to something completely superfluous. And that it was indeed, seeing it from his point of view, it really was. Shaking her head lightly, the smile remained on her expression and she eyed him with that hint of warmth to her that she had only recently allowed herself to express towards him. "I love you," she told him then, because it just had to get out in that moment. On the one hand she felt happy to say it, on the other she remembered all too well how he had refused to hear those words the previous time. And so she did the only thing that she could think of that would pacify him, because it did most people. Lifting her hands, she took hold of his face gently and leaned in to kiss him. The moment their lips touched, her eyes slid closed and she completely gave herself over to him. Every little part, every part of herself that she had tried once upon a time to gather together to make herself a full person, so easily and willingly gave itself up to him now. And when his hands were put in her sides and he kept her close enough for the kiss to last, whatever sense of insecurity he might still have felt disappeared completely as well.
Kissing him, Hyoyeon's mind was completely quiet and what before she had needed to take him to bed for to get now vibrated through every part of her body with the simple kiss. The moment Daesung pulled her against his chest - and she willingly turned along to find herself a comfortable spot there - everything was right again and the tension seeped out of her muscles with an easiness that she had been forcing to mimic before. When eventually she felt his grip loosen a little as if to allow her to break the kiss if she wanted to, Hyoyeon didn't just yet, instead kissing him a little longer and allowing her hand to slide to the back of his head and find itself a position there, fingers tangling in his hair and putting light pressure on it to keep him with her. But eventually she broke away because, well, sadly they couldn't keep kissing for the rest of the time. Yet even as she was still savouring the feeling of rightness, a rumble left Daesung that she could almost call content and the next moment his hand descended on her head to gently urge her to put it down. She gladly moved along with that, resting her head on his chest and even closing her eyes, letting her breath escape her slowly and softly, a warm smile on her face that she could not hide even if she wanted to. When Daesung asked her to watch TV, Hyoyeon nodded lightly without saying anything, glad that he made a duplicate get the remote and turn on the TV, because she didn't want to let him go. Her hand was still somewhat fisted in his hair, so she loosened her grip and then just started to gently toy with his hair as she remained lying on him comfortably. Making sure the way she was lying against him would not burden him, Hyoyeon turned her head slightly more towards the television screen once the sounds started to come from it, not once even trying to get away from him. In fact, she was going to stay in that exact position for as long as he would let her and once it was broken, she would do her very best to get back into an alike position as soon as possible.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Daesung kept his gaze on the ceiling as he waited for Hyoyeon’s answer to his question. Tracing a tiny crack in the ceiling with his eyes for a couple of times over, the male actually had somehow started to forget that Hyoyeon still had to answer him and thus when she finally spoke it took him a moment to remember about what they had been talking about in the first place. Frowning at the ceiling as he thought about her words, he found that he had nothing else to give her because he actually had no clue what she wanted from him to start with, “What do you want from me?” He therefore questioned her, not being able to hold that question back while she made her way over to the couch he was lying in and pushed his legs aside so she could take a seat. Allowing her to push his legs aside, the male turned his gaze towards her. Looking at her face when she sat in the couch, only a slight hint of confusion was visible on his normally neutral expression. Yet Hyoyeon didn’t reply to him right away and instead told him that he should let her see his knuckles. Allowing her once more to take hold of his hand, his gaze travelled down to their hands as Hyoyeon inspected the wound. “I cleaned it a bit already upstairs, after dinner.” He stated as she was busy with inspecting them.
Letting his eyes travel back up at her face when she placed his hand back on his stomach he hummed in agreement when she stated that she could clean the wounds. “That’s for the best, I think.” He told her then, once more agreeing with her and allowing her to actually take care of him. Humming lightly at her next question he told her with a slight movement of his other hand that she could find the first aid kid upstairs in the bathroom. Keeping his eyes as long on her as he could, the male waited for her to get back and then let her threat the wounds on his hands. Not really making a sound as Hyoyeon treated his wounds, the male kept a close eye on her movements. Not because he didn’t trust her to do it, but simply because he never had seen anyone do this for him. Stating that she better could put a bandage around his knuckles so he wouldn’t smear the ointment all over the place, he also watched how she did this after which he thanking her for her care. Looking up at her face once again when she stated that she would go and put the box back where she had found it, Daesung waited until Hyoyeon was gone after which he softly went with his fingertips over the bandages that were now on his hands. Dropping both of his hands back on his stomach the moment he heard the stairs, however, his eyes found Hyoyeon again as she stepped into the room again.
Seeing how she reclaimed her spot in the couch next to his legs once more, he slowly moved his right hand to let it touch the side of hers lightly the moment she put her hand on his stomach.
Hyoyeon had heard Daesung's question, it wasn't that, the fact was simply that she did not know what to reply to it just yet at that moment. And so she'd changed the subject, glad that he told her where to find the supplies she needed to take care of him. Getting up from the couch, she easily made her way up the stairs, glad she already knew where the bathroom was so it wasn't hard to find the things she needed. Checking a few of the ointments first on what they were for, she picked out the right one and then took some bandage as well. All the while her thoughts were more focused on the question still hovering through her mind rather than what her fingers were doing. What did she want from him? Nothing was not the right answer because it wasn't like she could just walk away again, but what was it exactly that she did want from him? As her mind mulled over that apparently incredibly difficult question, Hyoyeon found her way back downstairs and easily retook her position on the couch with Daesung. Putting the supplies down in her lap, she took a hold of Daesung's hand once more and quietly started on cleaning his wounds with a piece of cloth and the ointment. Cleaning out the wounds properly so there wouldn't be any dirt left, Hyoyeon tried her best not to hurt the other while still being thorough. When eventually she was finished and Daesung told her to put a bandage around his hand so he wouldn't smear ointment everywhere, she couldn't help the amused huff that left her as she agreed with him. Wrapping the bandage around his hand, she took great care in doing so, eventually folding it over once to tuck it beneath itself so it would stay in place properly. Stroking over it once, she then looked at her handiwork for a moment, before nodding her head and gathering her supplies.
"I'll go put this back first," she stated easily, once again walking from the room and once again the moment she left his side the question came back to plague her. And she knew, she knew, he probably didn't remember even asking it anymore by now but it was in her mind and it bugged her and she was determined to give him an answer, whichever answer that would be. Gathering her words as she went, she absent-mindedly placed the supplies back in their empty spots in the cabin, looking at herself in the mirror without actually seeing anything for a moment or two before snapping out of it and heading back downstairs. When she walked back into the living room, Daesung was still lying where he had been from the start and for some reason that made her feel relieved. Walking up to the couch once again, she took a seat where she'd been sitting before and gently rested her hand on his stomach, looking down at him for a moment before her gaze wandered off and she just stared a bit into the living room. Until a sudden touch on her hand instantly pulled all her attention towards said part of her body, which Daesung had clearly deliberately touched, and kept touching as well, because he didn't move his hand away anymore. Clenching her teeth for a moment to go against the sudden surge of nervous butterflies in her stomach, Hyoyeon couldn't help but feel suddenly giddy. Yet she managed somehow to keep the nervous giggle from escaping her and instead she slowly turned her head back to Daesung, taking in his features once again and the way he was looking at her.
"I..." she started, but every possible forming of the sentence didn't sound right in her mind, so nothing else came out for a moment. Until she breathed out a soft sigh and pulled up her shoulders lightly, not moving her hand but averting her gaze from his. "What I want from you... Is what you want to give me," she then managed to bring out and be somewhat satisfied with. "I want you to be you, that is who I..." This time she didn't fall out of words but those she had wanted to say had chased him away the previous time and so she shrugged again instead of finishing the sentence. "And I will be me. This doesn't have to change anything. You can just continue your life but I'll be part of it again. You'll get annoyed at me and I'll get annoyed at you." Another shrug in between those words. "All I ask is that you give me what you can and want to give me," she then stated, the short version of what she had been trying to explain in a rather bad way, if she said so herself. Nodding once she shrugged and then returned her gaze to his face to smile lightly, not really sure of what his reaction would be to what she had just said but not seeing a threat in them either for him to get angry again. But then again, she had not expected him to do so the previous time, so the insecurity and nervosity still hovered beneath her seemingly aloof expression.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Eating the food Hyoyeon had prepared to thank them to let her live here with them in the apartment, Daesung, like always, ate as if his life depended on it. It was something which actually didn’t bug him at all even though it maybe did bug other people. He always looked like he ate quickly as if to make sure that no one suddenly took his plate and his food away. But in between shoving the food in his mouth and chewing and swallowing it, the male too remarkably found some time here and there to speak to the others and interrupt them in between what they were saying to tell him his opinion or just make a comment about what they were saying. So yeah, dinner passed like it usually did even though Hyoyeon was sitting at the table now as well. Apparently none of them really did seem to mind the fact that she suddenly had come into their lives again, a thought which soon disappeared again from his mind when the blonde woman asked them who was doing the dishes. Her eyes mostly lingering on him. Huffing at the way she kept looking at him, he quickly stated that he wasn’t the one who was going to do the dishes. “Not me.” And if to make that statement a little bit harder he stood up from his chair and just walked out of the room as the two women said that they would do the dishes. Heading up the stairs, the duplicator went to his own room where he quickly changed his outfit and threw the filthy things in a corner of his room right on top of the pile with the other dirty clothes. Taking a quick look at the torn flesh then of his knuckles, Daesung cleaned them as good as he could after which he headed down the stairs again.
Looking through the open door that led to the kitchen, Daesung saw that the two women were busy with drying the dishes and thus he quickly turned his head away from them again, acting like he hadn’t seen them at all, and headed towards the living room. Using the second door to get into the living room he went to lie into the couch which was directly positioned in front of the TV. Lying in the couch he took up the complete length of it as he looked up at the ceiling, his head resting in the pillow. Listening to the sounds that came from the kitchen, Daesung turned his head slightly to Hyoyeon when he could hear how she went over to the other couch to take a seat there. Looking at the blonde woman for a little bit, Daesung instantly turned his head away from her when she asked him why he left. “I wanted to go out.” He replied after a moment with a huff. Remaining silent for a moment longer as he swallowed back the other comments he wanted to make about how it was a free country and he could do what he wanted to do when he felt like doing it, he asked her a question instead. “Does it matter?” And although his voice still didn’t fully carry any deeper emotion, it has become a bit softer when he asked her that.
Hyoyeon eyed Daesung for a moment as he turned his gaze away from her the moment the question had left her lips. When the huff left him along with some words, she closed her eyes for a short moment as she breathed out slowly. Eventually she opened her eyes again, every emotion she could have felt having been deflected by her so that she would not let this get to her. Because she honestly didn't want to make anything of it all of a sudden. Daesung had always been like this and she had never bothered trying to press him. Yet right as her eyes opened, a question left his lips and Hyoyeon's eyes found her friend's face quite easily, even though he still wasn't looking at her. The soft hint to his voice had not gone by unnoticed, being such a strange occurrence for her friend that there was no way Hyoyeon could have missed it. Swallowing once, she contemplated her options. She could speak the truth but would it really help her cause any? And then she realised that it helping or not didn't matter, honestly didn't matter, to her, and so she started to smile lightly, the warmth in her expression completely disregarding the awkward distance there seemed to have been between ever since she'd spoken the words that had made him leave. Nodding her head shortly, she spoke, a few seconds of silence having lingered between his question and her reply to it.
"It does to me," she stated honestly, but her voice held no pressure or anything else that could make him feel obliged to tell her; it was a mere fact that she was telling him. Getting up from the couch she was sitting in, she walked over to the other one and easily moved Daesung's legs over a little so she could take a seat on the edge of the piece of furniture, turning her upper body slightly so she would be facing him. Reaching out a hand, she easily let her fingers stroke over his hair, darting off to the side and gently brushing the back of her fingers over the side of his face. "Let me see your knuckles," she stated then, completely disregarding the earlier subject like Daesung clearly wanted to do and reaching out to take hold of his hand gently. Bringing it into her view a bit more, she shortly inspected the roughed up skin of his hand, keeping her touches gently as to not hurt him and eventually humming softly, but not giving any further explanation as to why she had done what she'd done. Lowering his hand back down to his stomach, she however didn't let go of it and just held it in a gentle hold with her own, starting to smile softly again as she let her gaze wander over his features, taking all of them in decently for the first time since she got here.
"I can clean the wounds if you want. It's going to be better to keep them from infecting or taking longer to heal," she spoke after a moment then, gently rubbing her thumb over the back of his hand. There was a tenderness and care to her actions now that resembled most the way she would treat him whenever they were on the boats, but this time it was not inspired by pity but simply by the warmth she felt for him, as a friend and a person. Breathing out another slow, long breath of air very softly, Hyoyeon still had to focus to get her muscles to relax as she sat there. She had no clue what had happened to Daesung when she'd told him she loved him. All she knew was that he had not exactly rejected it, although he had gone off, because he'd come back and was actually still talking to her. But if that was all she was going to get, she would live with it. And she would be content with it. Because what she had said was true; she didn't actually need an answer, although it would be nice to get one. Whether he loved her or cared for her or simply thought her useful company because she made food, it didn't really matter. She would still love him and that was something she had come to like now that she was sitting here with him. Whatever he would give her, even if it was just sitting with him like this, she would take it and enjoy it. And if one day he would tell her to go after all, she would find a way past the hurt. She always had.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
"I missed what?" He shouted back to Yunho after which he went to stand in the opening of the door that led from the hallway to the living room. Frowning at the male who sat in the couch with his girlfriend leaning against him, Daesung huffed. "How come no present for me? What the fuck is this? Why can’t I have any present? What the fuck Yunho?" Shifting his attention from his best friend to the opening in the wall that led to the kitchen when he suddenly heard Hyoyeon’s familiar voice, which sounded just like old times, the frown on his face faded and instead of replying once more to Yunho the blonde went back to the hallway so he could put his shoes and his jacket away. Leaving them un-neatly standing and hanging at his usual spot, the duplicator made his way through the hallway to the kitchen. Upon entering it a slight but definite smug smile pulled at the corners of his lips as he saw how Hyoyeon was preparing food for them. "So, what are we going to eat, Hyo?" He questioned her, acting completely like himself -except for the fact that he now went over to Hyoyeon and slid an arm around her waist to pull her close to his side- he looked down at the pots and pans. Taking in the different things on the stove he hummed lightly but with clear disinterest at them -since pots and pans seriously weren’t interesting only the food that was inside of them was- after which he turned his head towards Hyoyeon. Waiting for a second so she would look up at him he then instantly leaned forward to claim her lips as his.
Kissing her for a little while longer as he discovered her lips with his now that he was sober, he broke the kiss off again and gave her a playful slap on her butt afterwards. Facing her with this smug smile of his he let go of her again and looked around the kitchen. “So? What do you need me for?” Looking at the thing Hyoyeon nodded at, Daesung blinked a couple of times at it before he went over to the bottle of liquor to pick it up. Starting to grin at the bottle while he turned it in his hand he listened to how she told him that it was a present for him. “Awesome! Thanks Babe! Exactly what I wanted to have.” Turning his gaze back to her, he winked at her after which he went to fetch him a glass so he could pour himself a drink. Looking down at his glass, he rolled his eyes when Hyoyeon told him that he couldn’t drink too much since he still had to eat later on. Hearing how Yunho - his best friend old, fat, meddlesome aunt- mingled himself then into the conversation, something the older always loved to do, Daesung picked up his glass and bottle and went over to the living room so he could have a conversation with him. Telling him that he wasn’t going to carry Yunho upstairs either when he was drunk and that he could have one glass of his liquor because he was in a good mood. Not answering the older guy when he shouted to Hyoyeon that she could ‘drop by more often’ Daesung took place in the other couch and stated a bit pensively at the … glow in the dark candle? Inquiring about the thing that.. sniff sniff.. smelled really strange he soon got informed by Ara that Hyoyeon had bought all of them gifts and that this candle was her gift. Humming at that reply he then questioned Yunho what he got and then started a conversation with the two after which he would go over to the kitchen, as soon as Hyoyeon called, so he could eat together with the three others. Taking in his place at the table opposite of Hyoyeon so he could look and talk better to her.
Hyoyeon couldn't help but smile amused as well as warmly at the way Yunho bugged his friend by stating he'd missed gift time and that there was nothing for him. Her smile widened at Daesung's reply, but when she could hear the other coming over to her, the expression died away effortlessly, her anxiety coming up once more. Yet Daesung's voice was normal, making her feel slightly better, but then his arm suddenly slipped around her middle and pulled her against his side. Moving along with the pressure in her side, she stood motionlessly for a moment with the spatula in her hand as Daesung looked over the pans and pots she had on the stove. Clearing her throat after a moment, she replied him then by stating what they were going to have for dinner, motioning at the pots and pans separately when she stated what was in them. Looking up at him then, partly because she wanted to see his face, partly because she realised he was looking at her, Hyoyeon got the surprise of her life when Daesung leaned in and kissed her. And not just peck or something like that, no, he full out kissed her. In full view of his two friends who were most definitely looking at that very moment. Not that she could verify, because she honestly was too busy kissing him back, even lifting her free arm to wrap it around his neck and fist her hand in his hair as if to keep him from moving away.
But of course the moment to pull away came too soon to her liking, yet she knew they had to because one, his friends were probably still watching and two, the food needed stirring or it would burn. And Daesung liked his food too much to jeopardise its good taste because of something as simple as a kiss. Turning back to her pans without a moment's hesitation, the slap on her butt didn't really surprise her even though it came unexpectedly. She needed a moment to regain her wits, but even as she did, Daesung already asked her what she'd needed him for. Nodding over to the bottle of liquor standing on the counter to their left, she easily explained to him that the bottle was for him, a gift for the owner of the house. She only looked up when he spoke a word that she hadn't expected from him and because of the surprise she could only look at him as he winked at her and then moved to get a glass to drink. Startling back to her senses, she moved once more to take care of the food. "Don't drink too much. You still have to be able to eat," she warned him lightly, unable to help herself from grinning when Yunho butted in at that moment and Daesung replied to his friend in an annoyed manner. It wasn't so much the bugging that amused her, it was more that she loved to see Yunho test Daesung's limits, because Daesung never once got actually annoyed at his friend, usually merely returning the banter until he got tired of it and stopped talking. This time around, however, she could hear their conversation turning into one about the gifts the others had gotten and she kind of tuned out of the talking to focus fully on her food again, at the same time thinking of what had just happened to her.
Daesung had kissed her, put an arm around her, called her babe, slapped her butt and totally claimed her in front of his friends, so that meant something. Definitely meant something. But at the same time he'd gotten so angry before when she'd spoken to him and she couldn't help herself wanting to know why it had angered him. Which was something she wanted to ask him about. But of course now was not a good time, she wanted to ask just him without the company of his two friends around to listen in on their conversation. Swallowing, she made sure that the food wouldn't get bad while her thoughts just went on and on, trying to make sense of something she actually could hardly believe. But she managed to at least settle into such a state that when the food was finished she could put it all on the table, already put four portions ready and then call for the others to come eat. Setting herself down in the one chair that would remain after the three others took their usual seats, she ended up sitting across from Daesung, sending him a short smile before wishing them a good meal, thanking them for welcoming her into the house and then starting to eat.
The dinner passed without much worth of mentioning, but at least Hyoyeon was glad to hear that the food was to their liking. When everyone was finished, she hummed slightly and leaned back a little. "So.. Who's doing the dishes?" she questioned, her gaze lingering mostly on Daesung. Of course he instantly stated it wouldn't be him, and after a moment of silence Ara then shrugged stating she would. Hyoyeon smiled at her. "I'll help, dear," she easily offered, getting up from her chair then to start clearing the table. And so they set on the dishes, Hyoyeon meanwhile striking a conversation with Ara. Daesung disappeared soon after to go upstairs and Yunho followed suit not long after to go shower and get ready for his work later that evening. When the dishes were done, Ara moved upstairs to go say goodbye to Yunho. Hyoyeon cleaned up the last bit of the mess in the kitchen after which she said goodnight to her friend when the younger woman went to go read upstairs. It was only then that she headed over to the living room where Daesung was seated, walking over to the other couch since he was taking up all the space and looking at him in silence for a while.
"Why did you leave?" she asked then, her voice quiet but still audible. Yet she was giving him the opportunity this time to pretend he hadn't heard her question, in which case she would simply start talking about how he'd made a mess of his shirt and it was good that he had at least cleaned up because you obviously don't go sit at a dinner table like that, don't you have any manners? But if he would reply, something she doubted because of his earlier reaction, she would perhaps be able to have a decent conversation with him. Something she found she needed to make sense of the turmoil he had made of her thoughts and feelings with his strange behaviour.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Not fully having his mind on his game, his attention got easily pulled away from it by the sudden but soft touch on his arm. Not being startled by it, Daesung turned his head to the woman who put it there. Lifting an eyebrow at her in question, the male pulled out one of his earplugs to see what she wanted from him this time. “Heya back.” He greeted, becoming aware of how nervousness crept up his back once more now that she was awake and could start telling him things once more which she had to tell him but which he didn’t want to hear, Daesung quickly continued talking. “I brought hot soup, some bread and crackers for you to eat. But it’s probably cold soup now.” Shrugging lightly like he didn’t care about it he hummed when she told him that she’d eat it. Putting his earplug back in, Daesung focused his gaze on his Iphone once more so he could continue his game although most of his senses were still focused on Hyoyeon and how she walked around his room and then started to eat the cold, and probably disgusting since it was cold -but hey it’s her choice- soup.
Keeping on playing the game, he kind of more lost the rounds than actually won them while Hyoyeon was eating and when she got up to put the bowl away, Daesung knew more than he actually could hear that she was talking to him the moment she took a seat once more on the bed. Although he really didn’t want to, he did pull an earplug out of his ear again so he could listen to her this time around instead of looking at her. Feeling how anxiousness started to build up as she kept on going he seriously did have to hold himself back to not interrupt her once more and when those dreaded words finally left her lips, he was downright mad. Ugh, why not? Just shout it from the rooftops, will you? How hard can it be to not tell that to someone when that someone obviously doesn’t want to hear it?! Why the fuck is that so important to you?! Why the fuck?! Remaining silent as his whole body tensed up because he was cursing her and everyone on this god damn planet in his mind, he closed the game and the music app and pulled the other earplug out of his ear without saying a single word. Locking his phone next, he carelessly threw the thing down on the bed in between him and her. Breathing out a deep sigh after that, Daesung looked up at the wall opposite of them where he had hung up pictures of the city and a whole map of it too so he could plan his criminal deeds.
"Now you said it… And I know now." He spoke in a voice which was way calmer and softer than he currently felt. Though there undeniably was a tremble of anger audible in it. A tremble which would only become stronger as time passed, that was why it was absolutely necessary for him to continue talking. "You can stay." He added quickly, not letting his anger get the better of him because that would totally hurt Hyoyeon’s feelings and for some kind of wicked reason he didn’t want to do that. Needing a moment to clear his throat before he could continue he eventually did, "It’ll be good to have you here. I’m happy." Not managing to say more, he got up from the bed and headed towards the door. "Bathroom." He announced in a voice which sounded way too angry for someone who was going to go to the bathroom, Daesung opened the door of his bedroom so he could get out of the room and head over to the bathroom. Yet the moment he arrived in that tiny room he instantly felt trapped. A feeling he didn’t like to experience at all and that was why he just dashed out of it the moment he entered it and ran to the front door so he could get outside and run away so he could let his fear and anger out of his system. Ignoring anyone of the three people in the apartment who would shout his name because he had to be as far away from them as possible. Especially from Hyoyeon.
It would only be three hours later that Daesung would return to the apartment. Apart from reeking of alcohol and cigarettes, having a couple of bruises on his hands and a slightly torn shirt, the male was completely fine and apparently the anger had left him completely. Entering the apartment once more he first went to take a look in the living room. “Heya people. What did I miss?” Acting like he just hadn’t been away for three hours, but just came back from taking a small walk, he looked around in search of someone.
Okay so she hadn't expected him to jump for joy, pull her into a great big hug and kiss her senseless before stating he loved her too, but the reaction she got also wasn't on the list of things she had expected from him. She'd thought he would, you know, shrug it off very Daesung-like, say something to the likes of 'Of course you do, I'm that awesome', send her a smug grin and give her a cheesy thumbs up or something. But get angry about it? No that definitely wasn't Daesung. It shocked her to the core for his reaction to be the way it was and as he as good as stormed out of the room and then not much later out of the house in total, all Hyoyeon could think was 'I should go, he clearly doesn't want to be near me. I should get out of the house instead of forcing him to get out of his.' Getting up from the bed not long after, Hyoyeon stupidly kept the dolphin pressed to her chest with one arm while she used the other to gather her bag, stuff her old clothes in it and eventually add the dolphin as well, although reluctantly. Breathing out a soft sigh, she threw the backpack over her shoulder and then picked up the tray with the empty bowls of soup to bring it back down. She entered the kitchen hesitantly, smiling lightly at Ara and nodding her head a little at both her and the male standing with her. "Hi. Hello," she spoke softly. "I'm sorry about not greeting you properly earlier, Ara. And it's nice to see you again, Yunho. I hope you are both well." Handing the tray over to her friend because she had no clue where the hell things were supposed to go in this house, she watched her friend put the things away before walking along with her to the living room to have a bit of a conversation. Meanwhile Yunho headed off somewhere - perhaps to his room - already busy on his phone.
Choosing to ignore the probability of who he was texting, Hyoyeon instead talked a bit with Ara about how things had been throughout the past few weeks and how she was glad to see the other again. Having caught up not long after, she shifted a bit uncomfortably and pulled her backpack a bit closer to herself. Stating then that she should go, find herself a hotel, she was surprised for a split second when Ara said she shouldn't have to go and what kind of hotel would she go to? Explaining to her friend that she had no clue which hotel but that she was just going to go out and find one, her thoughts returned to the other occupant of the house. Most probably the owner of it, whether that was legal or not. He had been angry, but Daesung wasn't the kind of guy who would tell her to stay and that he was happy if it wasn't the truth. If he didn't like her being here, he would've kicked her out, regardless of the fact that she had just swum across an entire ocean to get to him. Closing her eyes for a moment, she started to smile lightly at Ara when the other called for her boyfriend to ask him if he knew any hotels nearby. When Yunho as well stated then that she shouldn't leave, even adding that if Daesung would object he'd kick the guy's ass, Hyoyeon felt her decision obliterate as she smiled softly at the two people in front of her.
"Thanks, guys, really," she hummed lightly, nodding her head at them and slowly loosening her grip on the strap of her backpack. "I appreciate the hospitality. If you don't mind, I would like to go to the store. I feel bad coming here empty-handed and I'd love to make you guys some dinner. If you don't mind of course, Ara?" Getting a reassurance from the younger woman that it was no problem and she could make food that evening, she nodded her head with a grateful smile and politely asked the other if she wanted to come along. Of course Ara agreed, and so the two of them set off to the store to get some groceries and some gifts. For Ara, Hyoyeon bought a nice looking scented candle - which she of course made sure the other approved of before buying it. Her gift to Yunho was a six-pack of beer that Ara told her he liked to drink. What she had to get for Daesung was easier and at the same time more difficult. She knew him well enough to know what he liked, but because of the situation that had transpired earlier she didn't know exactly what to get him this time. Until they walked up to the cash desk and the strong liquors came into her view. She didn't have any more doubts as she walked up to the drinks, skimmed through them quickly and picked out a bottle of the stuff she knew Daesung liked to drink - and steal - every now and again but that wasn't always available.
Nicely paying for all her groceries, she was glad Ara was there to help her carry them and so they soon headed back to the house, where everything was unpacked and put in its proper place. Through that she also got to know where everything was supposed to go, which would be useful to make the food later on. Once everything was done, she thanked Ara for helping her and then handed Yunho's gift to him as well, which he thanked her for with a grin before giving his girlfriend a hug and a kiss and comparing their gifts for awesomeness. Letting the two have their time together, Hyoyeon started to take out the things she needed for the dinner, telling Ara she didn't have to help and that she'd make an adventure of finding all the things she needed. And she was still busy doing that when the door opened and a very familiar voice sounded up, calling out to the house. From the living room she could hear Yunho's reply to his friend. "You missed gift time, dude, so no present for you!" Unable to keep herself from grinning at the familiarity of the two guy's bantering as well, Hyoyeon stirred the food in the frying pan for a moment to make sure it wouldn't burn before she turned her head slightly towards the direction of the hallway.
"Welcome back," she called out, just like she would have done if they were still in their cottage, nothing different in her tone of voice and the colour of its sound. "Clear away your shoes and come over here, would you?" she added after a moment, not wanting to leave her food and wanting to seem as normal as usual, but at the same time wanting to go over to him to reassure herself he was back and in one piece and that everything was fine between them. But with Daesung, acting like everything was fine was the best way to make sure it actually was.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Even the affirmation she gave him didn’t break through the current silent and peaceful state his mind was in. Although he truly hated silences, this one didn’t feel so bad and he couldn’t quite figure out why that was. He didn’t even bother to figure it out. Which was really, really strange. Though, he didn’t care about any of that right now. Right now everything seemed right. Just right. Yet that silence didn’t last for long. It never did anyway. Something like that never seemed to stick with him. There was always something that messed everything up. This time Hyoyeon’s words broke through it and made his thoughts wash over him once more. Just like water, that had finally managed to break a whole dam, did. Starting to frown deeply when his mind had registered Hyoyeon’s whisper and the meaning those words held, he lifted up his head from hers and instantly let go of her. Letting his arms hang next to his side, Daesung’s eyes were searching for something to focus on so he could ‘pretend’ to not hear Hyoyeon. Steeling himself against the words she spoke to him, he didn’t allow one single word to truly reach him. His mind was too occupied with singing songs, thinking about how hungry he was, thinking about his new plan to steal himself a new headphone and thinking about how Hyoyeon’s bag made his floor wet and about how she made his clothes wet anyway to listen to her.
“Your clothes are wet. You’re making my clothes wet because of it.” Stepping out of her embrace, he easily passed her by to get to her bag. Looking down at it with a very displeased expression he pointed a finger over at the thing, “Don’t you have to dry it? Isn’t there anything inside of it which you could ruin by leaving it wet? Did you bring your dolphin?” Humming lightly to her confirmation he put his hand inside of his jeans pocket then as his gaze remained on the bag. Though he was forced to look up at her when she positioned herself in between him and her backpack. Frowning questioningly (and more like ‘what the fuck are you saying’) at her when she started to speak once more, since he truly didn’t want to hear anything she had to ‘tell’ him, Daesung once more interrupted her. “Aren’t you hungry? I sure as hell am.” Turning around so he could head out of the room and get downstairs where he’d tell Ara that she should make some food for him and Hyoyeon, Daesung didn’t catch the nod of Hyoyeon’s head.
Arriving downstairs, the blonde remained hanging around in the kitchen and the living room while he waited for the younger girl to prepare the food, which consisted out of some re-heated soup and some bread/crackers and a glass of water. Taking the completely prepared platter over from Ara, Daesung then made his way back upstairs to his room. Feeling how he started to become… nervous… (What? How?) as he walked up the stairs, a deep frown creased his forehead as he entered his bedroom in silence. Not being able to spot Hyoyeon immediately, his eyes quickly darted over to his bed in which he found the young woman lying sound asleep apparently. Feeling how some of the tension left his body he walked over to his desk, which stood at the right side of the bed, and put the platter down on it. Picking up his own bowl of soup and his spoon, the male started to walk back to his door so he could go downstairs again. But as soon as he arrived at the door and heard Yunho’s laughter downstairs, he first closed the door and then turned on his heels so he could put his bowl and spoon down again on the platter. No, seriously, he wasn’t going to go back downstairs and get confronted with that big stupid Yunho face and that grin of his. The older one already had his chance of ‘laughing at his face because Hyoyoen was here’ he wasn’t about to give him a chance again.
Taking a seat on his chair, Daesung first put his old earphones in so he could listen to some music as he began to eat. Thoughts of Yunho and Hyoyeon leaving his mind as he focused on other things. Finishing his own bowl of soup and some of the bread and crackers, the male then wiped his hands clean on his jeans after which he emptied his glass of water. Staring for a moment at the still filled bowl of soup, Daesung, who got remembered of Hyoyeon, then turned his chair around so he could watch the blonde woman. Letting his eyes go over her he first saw how she had -luckily- changed her outfit. Though when he spotted the way she was hugging the dolphin plushie against her chest made him avert his gaze from her. Getting up from his chair not so long after, the male walked a bit around his room as he threw his precious red bouncing ball from hand to hand. Eventually getting tired of that Daesung once more turned his gaze towards the bed. Looking at his bed and the woman who was lying in it for a couple of seconds longer, he first made a decision after which he walked over to the bed and went to lie on the still free side of it. Positioning his back against the wall, the blonde toyed a bit around with his stolen white Iphone while he listened to music and waited for Hyoyeon to wake up again. His mind still being one turmoil of thoughts while he at the same time he looked so concentrated on his Iphone and the game he was playing on it.
Hyoyeon woke from her slumber around the time the night would fall. Opening her eyes slowly in a dazed manner. Looking somewhat hazily up at what was in front of her, it didn't take long for the corners of her mouth to pull up into a soft but warm smile. The mere sight of her housemate - as she still tended to call him in her head - made her feel happy and content, the familiarity of him lying on a bed with earphones in tugging at he heartstrings in a way she didn't even know was possible. Letting her eyes rest on the male for a short while, she only then reached out to gently let her fingers come to rest on his arm. Smiling a bit wider at him when he looked up she then returned her hand to the dolphin she was holding on to. Waiting for Daesung to take out at least one earphone so he could hear her, she only then opened her mouth to speak.
"Hello stranger," she spoke softly, her voice sounding a little rougher because of having just woken up. Listening to his returned greeting she then shrugged softly. "That's quite alright, I'm starving I'll eat it anyway." Moving after another short moment, she finally managed to tear her eyes away from her housemate, turning them to the room to look for the soup he'd been talking about. When she spotted the bowl in question, she moved from her position and went over to the platter to take the bowl and a spoon. With both in hand, she returned to the bed, sitting down on the edge and starting to spoon the soup into her mouth. Only after she had emptied the bowl did she look up. Gently wiping any possible rest of the soup from her face, she breathed out a soft sigh before moving to put the bowl of soup back on the platter. When she turned around after, she looked over at Daesung, her eyes taking him in, trying to gauge his mood at this moment in time and then sighed softly. "Daesung I want to tell you.." she spoke softly, moving to sit back down on the bed, picking up her dolphin and pulling it to her chest, as well as crossing her legs beneath her. "But why won't you let me finish?" Keeping her eyes on him, she was intent on being able to finish her words this time. "I care about you... I love you. I'm sorry if that bothers you, but I just want you to know." Looking at him a little longer, Hyoyeon looked rather vulnerable in that moment, sitting there with his dolphin pressed close to her chest.
This is Not a Declaration | Daesung & Hyoyeon
Life was great. Seriously, it was all kind of awesome since his grand escape. Now he had a apartment to live in with a great bed, a decent and clean shower, a comfortable couch to relax, chill and fall asleep in, a small television and a nice refrigerator to which he could go to for his booze and food. Which on top of that wasn’t expired! Beat that freaks! Yeah, he definitely wasn’t feeling sorry for leaving those suckers of ‘Cirque Du Freak’ with their stupid potties and smelly tents behind like he had done. Now he could fully make the rules as he goes. Without having stupid people nagging at his head constantly about this thing or that thing which he had done wrong. No sir. He was free. At last.
It hadn’t taken Daesung long to fall back into his old habits and life-style (which he never fully had abandoned anyway) the moment he set foot in Gwangju. The big city practically begged him for his awesome presence to stay and do that one thing he was so good at. And oh man, how he had missed that over the past four years. The moment he had decided to stay in Gwangju for a while he had told the two others, who were tagging along with him, that he’d find them a nice place to stay but that they just had to wait for a couple of hours until he’d get back or call them. After making sure none of the two were going to follow after him, Daesung quickly vanished in between the crowd and went in search of this ‘nice place’. It had taken him several hours to find a suitable empty place and steal the keys and the legal papers of it, but of course he had managed. Now that he was out again he surely wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer so soon. Being enormously proud of his own achievement the blonde decided to call up his friend, Yunho, to tell him where he needed to go to. While he waited for the couple to arrive Daesung went out again to get them some delicious food so they all could eat as soon as they arrived.
As time passed and his friend got a job (the mere idea of having a job made Daesung shiver) at some local bar, the duplicator filled his days –and his pockets- with the things he wanted to fill them with. And luckily none of his two companions complained about that, neither as he complained about what they were doing. Since Yunho worked mostly during the evening and the nights, he was left alone with Ara during the day. Not that he minded that, no, not at all. Ara was a more than okay girl. She had never once complained when he had brought food back home or some other things he had clearly stolen. The brunette just started cooking and sometimes she even complimented him for bringing something back she liked. Well, that was definitely the type of woman he liked to have around in a house. The only times that she would get on his nerves were the times when she told him that maybe he should do something too for the household except for bringing money and food back home. But well, those tiny arguments didn’t last for long anyway to really be bothered by it since the female didn’t really seem to truly mean what she said anyway.
So yeah, life was great. Roaming the streets and stealing the things he wanted while deceiving people truly made him feel good. Although he still kept everything he did on low profile since he didn’t want the police to know he was back yet. And if ever he got into a fight, or met someone he just wanted to punch, he’d give that person the honour to meet his fist. Without getting a reprimand for it later on! Aah, such a luxury that was. Just like sleeping in late. That was yet another luxury the male was quite pleased with. As the days passed and melted into each other, on one given morning, suddenly, someone came to disturb his peaceful existence. Someone he had thought to never see back anymore. Ever.
He had been standing in the middle of his room looking at the wall, where he had drawn a map of the city on with some markings, which stood the opposite of where the door was at. Although he had heard the cracking of the stairs, Daesung hadn’t given it a second thought since he assumed that it was Ara who made her way up to go and get something in her shared room with Yunho or something like that. Yet the soft ‘thud’ sound was a bit too close for his liking and made him turn his head so he could see what the female was up to. But instead of seeing Ara Daesung got the surprise of a lifetime when he recognized Hyoyeon. A Hyoyeon with seemingly wet hair and a pink summer dress and a yellow bikini on top of that. “Hyoyeon?!” He brought out in surprise as he turned around so he could face the woman who he had left behind at the loser circus. At least, he thought he had left her behind, but apparently she wasn’t there anymore. What? Did this mean that the circus was here? Where they here for him?!
Yet before he could question her what she was doing here or how she had managed to get here, he was forced to take a hold her since she basically threw herself at him. Huffing inaudible the moment their bodies collided, Daesung stared with wide eyes at the door where Hyoyeon’s bag was at. Seeing how it too was wet and how Hyoyeon still smelled like fish and salt water it didn’t take Daesung long to bind the loose ends together. So Hyoyeon had swum her way over to here, probably from Home Island and most likely Ara was the one who had told her where they were at. Damn women, you could never trust them. Not fully at least. But luckily that meant that the circus wasn’t after them and that they were still safe. That being cleared up Daesung finally focused on the woman who he had in a very loose grip in his arms and who was busy with making his own clothes wet. “You…” he started after a little while of silence, his voice being rather soft for his normal doing though it still was filled with confusion, “You’re here?” Feeling how his own body reacted to his words and their meaning, his arms automatically got a better hold of her and finally gave her a real hug. A hug in which he let his head rest gently against her own as he held her close to him, not giving her much space or chance even to break off the hug as his mind became silent. Something which didn’t happen very often.
Some things one could never quite forget, no matter how much time had passed since they happened or how little they meant. They just stuck with a person and would occasionally pop up from their memory to remind them of times long gone. Hyoyeon had several of those things as well and one of them popped up at the exact moment when Daesung's arms wrapped themselves around her - for whatever reason they might do so. The image of him down on one knee proposing to her in a drunken stupor was quickly followed by the image of his smile when they were enjoying themselves dancing and singing earlier on that evening and a split second after that she remembered the feelings that had followed later on that night when they had shared a bed together. Her heartbeat did the stupid thing where it decided to make her feel like her heart was going to escape from her chest and when Daesung's voice filled up the silence surrounding the hazardous thumping, she was convinced that all hope was lost for her sane state of mind. The 'you' he uttered filtered through to her mind sounding like the accusation she assumed he would make it be, but it didn't matter to her. When he then stated 'you're here', Hyoyeon's body felt like it would collapse on itself with the relief of hearing his voice again, of being truly convinced that she was once more in Daesung's presence. She hated how weak he made her feel, how badly she was affected by the simple thought of being around him, but at the same time all she could feel was glad.
"I'm here," she voiced out, repeating and affirming his words more so than really answering him before she could feel the corners of her mouth pull up into a smile. A happy, relieved smile that portrayed a lot more of her inner feelings which she didn't really want to convey just yet. Holding on to him for a little longer just like that, feeling his arms encase her without allowing her to back away and feeling the warmth of his head against hers, she eventually tilted her head a little, to be able to look up at him. Words that had burned in her mind, fought to be able to make their way to her throat and be spoken aloud were now ready to blast out and she had no option but to speak to him and tell him the true reason for her presence. She could not do otherwise, needed him to understand something that she had come to understand herself throughout the time they had been separated. It had only been two weeks but the painstaking absence she had felt from the moment she had stopped talking to him after their outing had made it seem like years rather than weeks. Breathing in slowly, Hyoyeon could feel the air entering into her lungs with a quiver, a mere drop of the vastness of her emotions but already more than she usually showed towards this male when it came to things involving sadness. Usually. But everything had changed, hadn't it?
"You were lacking," she whispered, using the air she'd just taken in, and from there the words kind of poured out like water from a lion head fountain. "I was convinced it was my place to stay but you were lacking from my life. Your absence was so obvious even in the small things and I just couldn't stay. I had to find you. I had to tell you. I have to tell you.." Taking a new breath to be able to continue, Hyoyeon found herself suddenly missing the warmth she had felt just moments before and she glanced down shortly to see Daesung's arms had disappeared from around her. Looking back up she noticed he had averted his gaze and although it hurt she shook her head lightly, trying to gather her wits to continue her words. But before she could Daesung stated rather coldly that she was wet and was making him wet too, after which he passed her by to walk to her bag. Turning around to follow his movement and to be able to keep her gaze on him, she shook her head with a hint of desperation to her expression. "Daesung.." she mumbled, but he paid her no attention, instead looking at her backpack with a displeased expression, asking her whether she didn't have to dry it. Again she shook her head but again he left her no room to speak as he continued with another question about the dolphin plushie he had bought her. "Yes, I brought it with me," she replied quickly, glad to have an opening to speak, which she made good use of by not stopping once more. Walking closer to him she moved to stand in front of him so she would block his view on the backpack.
"Daesung.." she started again, trying to get him to listen to her because she needed to say these things that were on her mind. "I don't need you to reply to this, I don't expect anything from you, I just need to say it." Trying to make it clear to him like that that she didn't want anything from him, that he shouldn't worry about her putting any responsibility on him or something to the likes of that - because she knew how much he hated that - she found no understanding from him. Instead he frowned first and then interrupted her again by stating she must be hungry. Falling silent, she felt everything that had needed to get out suddenly disappear with the realisation that maybe she wanted to say it; he didn't want to hear. Swallowing once, twice, she could only nod her head as Daesung disappeared from the room to go downstairs and tell Ara she should make some food. With a sense of loss, she looked at the door a little longer before walking over to her bag and opening it up. Taking out dry clothes and everything she needed to dry herself up, she set about doing that first, so that she could settle the thoughts in her mind. Something told her that Daesung had been glad to see her as well. The way he'd taken a better hold of her had been an indicator of that, right? But then he didn't want to hear her say whatever it was he thought she wanted to say. Which she assumed was pretty clear, but perhaps it wasn't. Because how bad could it be to hear someone say they cared about you?
Changing into a more decent outfit of underwear, a shirt and a pair of shorts, Hyoyeon rolled her bikini and the dress in the towel she'd used to dry her skin and hair, putting them aside and picking out the dolphin plushie from her bag with which she moved over to the bed. It was then that the exhaustion overwhelmed her suddenly, the effort of swimming across an entire ocean and the lack of the adrenaline that had helped her accomplish it making her body demand for its needed rest. And so Hyoyeon went to lie down, hugging the plushie to her chest and burying her face in it. It didn't take long for her closed eyes to relax and her breathing to even out, rendering her completely unconscious with sleep.

Hyoyeon had swum for hours. Which wasn't really that big of a thing, she swum that long more often. But this time she had also actually crossed distance, and that was the difference with all those other times. From 'Home Island' all the way to the mainland, where she had walked onto the beach as if it wasn't strange at all for a girl to come out of the water with a backpack in hand. Sure, some people had looked at her all drenched with a strange gaze, but it was the middle of the summer, who were they to question her wish to swim in the sea? It wasn't like any of them realised she hadn't actually gone into the water from this same beach or form how far she actually came.
Without paying attention to any of the people, Hyoyeon easily sent a text to Ara, inquiring about their whereabouts at that point in time. As she waited for a reply, she reached into her waterproof bag, taking out a loose summer dress and pulling that on over her wet bikini. Closing up her bag again, she kept her phone in hand to wait for Ara's reply as she went on her way to the bus station. She would be in need to take a bus anyway, so it was the only logical thing to do since she couldn't stand still on the beach waiting for reply from Ara. When eventually her phone buzzed indicating she had a reply, she read it instantly, quickly returning the text to ask a more specific address, after which she set on her way, not replying to anything anymore that Ara might send. She knew she had to go straight there before she would change her mind again, although at that moment in time there was no such thing as a change of mind, as she seemed very focused on getting to the place she was headed.
The bus drove too slow to her liking, her feet moved to clumsily one in front of the other. In fact everything seemed to work against her, but eventually she did manage to reach the proper street in Gwangju, even getting to the right house and pressing the doorbell without hesitation. Even though she'd dried up a little, her hair still showed signs of having been wet and her summer dress was still slightly wet, revealing the fact that she was wearing only a bikini underneath. None of that bugged her. None of that even mattered to her. She simply waited for the door to be opened for her, smiling lightly at Ara although her feelings were a lot different than that. They were a raging storm, really, and her heart was beating like crazy too. "Hello Ara," she spoke in a friendly voice, nodding her head once in greeting at the other. "Is Daesung around?" Hardly waiting for the other to give her a reply, she already stepped inside, soon being directed upstairs and so she went as she was told, up the stairs and into the room she'd been pointed to.
The moment she saw the familiar stature of the male, Hyoyeon's whole body seemed to relax. As her arm dropped to her side, her fingers loosened from around the strap of her bag, letting the thing land on the ground with a soft thud. Stepping forward without a single word, she moved up to the surprised blonde and basically threw herself at him. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she was up on the tips of her toes to be able to rest her chin on his shoulder and hug him close. Not saying a word, she held Daesung against her with her eyes closed, breathing in the somewhat strange yet still familiar scent that was his and feeling every part of her body almost vibrate with the relief of being with him again, having found him and being able to hold him. And in that instant everything was right again.
Helping Hands | Ara & Hyoyeon
Lifting up her eyebrows lightly in a questioning manner when Hyoyeon said that she should put a note in Yunho’s laundry so he wouldn’t give Hyoyeon credit for doing it, she breathed out a small chuckle when the woman stated that the male would probably like anything that would come from her. “Well, I still don’t know what I need to write to be honest. Regardless of the possibility of him liking everything I give him.” She replied with a slight smile. Turning her gaze away again from Hyoyeon another question came to mind. “But even if I find something I could write down, where am I going to write it down on?” When the other jumped up from her place and told her that she didn’t have to worry about that, she followed Hyoyeon with her gaze as she went to the entrance of the laudromat to get a small card with the openings hours of the place. Starting to smile somewhat excitedly as she caught up with Hyoyeon’s idea she piped up that she had a pen with her so she could write something down on the back of the card. Needing to search for the pen for a small moment Ara stood up from her place and went over to the washing machine Hyoyeon was currently standing at so she could write a message to Yunho.
“Mhm, now I still don’t know what I need to write to him.” She added as an after-thought, “Maybe something French? But I can’t speak French.” Turning to face the blonde woman, Ara was glad to hear that Hyoyeon knew some French. Giving her some time to get herself another card she then penned down the word ‘mister’ in French for her while the two of them discussed what she could write as well. Eventually agreeing on one simple sentence Ara neatly copied the French word Hyoyeon had written after which she neatly wrote down the rest of the sentence in Korean. “Monsieur Yunho, I made sure you’d smell good for me. Ara” Reading over it once more she then decided to add one single ‘x’ behind her name. Grinning at the end result she picked it up again and then went to sit back on her place. “Thanks Hyoyeon. Do you know a couple of other French words? So I can maybe surprise him?” Glancing over at the blonde she and her had some fun when Hyoyeon told Ara all of the French words she knew. Trying her best to remember everything eventually the time came for them to head back to the camp.
Folding Yunho’s freshly dried clothes she put the card on top of the pile of clothes so he would find it the moment he’d open the bag. Actually hoping that the male would find it a nice surprise she hoped even more that he’d come to seek her out to ‘thank’ her for it. Zipping the bag close she took hold of it again and waited for Hyoyeon to be ready after which the two left the laundromat and went back on their way to the circus grounds. Walking a bit in silence Ara’s thoughts soon drifted off to the fact that she was going to leave the circus tomorrow for good. “It’s hard to believe that I’m going to leave this all behind tomorrow.” She mumbled. Remaining silent for a second or two longer she then glanced over at the woman who was walking next to her. “Are you sure that you’re not going to come along? I think the four of us will have a lot of fun, though.” Honestly stating what she currently thought Ara also didn’t know why it was that Hyoyeon didn’t want to come with them. For all that she knew was that the girl seemed to know Daesung and Yunho pretty well, since she could tell all those stories about them, so she couldn’t really figure out why Hyoyeon was set on not going along with them.
When Ara stated she had nothing to write the note on, Hyoyeon had to think for a moment only before remembering the flyers they left at the entrance of the laundromat with the name, address, phone number and opening hours of the place on it. "Oh, there's no need to worry about that," she stated. Getting up from her spot, she went to fetch one. Ara seemed to get an inkling of her plan as well because the other stated she had a pen and so Hyoyeon moved over to a washing machine that wasn't in use so Ara would be able to write on there. Waiting for Ara to join her, the other soon started to consider what to write, and Hyoyeon easily helped out stating she knew some French. A few words only, really, which she'd all picked up from Yunho when she bugged him enough about it. Languages had always interested her, after all. Telling Ara this, she easily told the girl the word for mister in French, even able to spell it after thinking back to it for a moment. Yet she decided to write it down so Ara could just copy it, going to fetch another flyer and writing the word down before letting Ara write it on the actual note. Coming up with a small message to Yunho then - mostly letting Ara do that - she clapped her hands lightly when the note was finished.
"Great!" she stated, grinning over at Ara. "Don't worry about it, it was my pleasure," she brushed off the other's thanks, before looking over at their washing machines to make sure they were still turning properly. Refocusing her attention on Ara when the girl asked about French words, she started to grin a bit wider. "Oh! I remember 'oui' and 'non'," she stated excitedly, moving back to their chairs to sit down again as she continued her horrendously pronounced French lesson, giving Ara the translation of the few words she knew as well and then just practising the pronunciation with her. Not that hers was so great, but it was the thought that counted anyway. If she just said a few French things like 'Bonjour monsieur Yunho' and 'Cava?' then he'd be totally impressed already most probably. Hyoyeon could see the guy literally swoon over a French speaking Ara, since he was already swooning over her just like that anyway.
Eventually their French session ended when the laundry was done and after folding Daesung's clothes neatly and replacing them in the bag, it was time for them to head back to the circus. Picking another ice cream on the way back, she was spending her time enjoying said treat when Ara brought up the subject of leaving again. Glancing over to the girl only shortly, her appetite disappeared completely and she lowered the cup with ice cream a little as she looked at the ground while walking. All kinds of thoughts wandered through her mind, images of a blonde male mostly, but eventually she sighed lightly. "Yeah," she hummed then, lifting her head and looking over at Ara shortly before bringing the cup of ice cream back up and focusing on the road once more. "We probably would, but I'm sure I'm not coming along." Smiling softly ahead of herself, she shrugged lightly. "I have friends and a life here that I cannot leave just like that." Which was about everything she said about the subject, continuing the path back to the circus in silence. Where they delivered the two duffel bags to the guys' tents, making sure they wouldn't be seen by them once more.
Walking Ara back to her own grey tent then, she didn't hesitate in reaching out when they came to a halt and hugging the other. Filled mostly with content feelings, although their was a sad undertone of departure, Hyoyeon still managed to turn up the happy metre as she hugged the other, thereby kind of blasting her happiness towards the other girl and hoping Ara would be able to thrive for a little while on those happier feelings so the emotions of others wouldn't bug her too much. "Take care of yourself, Ara," she spoke as she let go, smiling at the other and not hesitant to look at her. If Ara would establish eye contact, that would of course reveal the nagging feeling she still had that staying was wrong, but also the conviction that she would be staying. And a little bit of disappointment in having to say goodbye to three great people. "And don't hesitate to give me a call night or day if those jerks are making life difficult for you." Winking with a grin, she lifted a hand to wave lightly before turning away so she could head back to her own tent.
Helping Hands | Ara & Hyoyeon
Talking a bit about Yunho and Daesung with Hyoyeon, Ara was definitely amused by all the anecdotes Hyoyeon told her. Agreeing with the fact that she better would be prepared to live with the two males she also told Hyoyeon that she didn’t think that it would become a problem. If any of the two would start causing her too much trouble she probably would leave them. Not that she thought that any of them would cause so much trouble that she would decide to leave, but well, it was her last resort. Smiling warmly when Hyoyeon mentioned that Yunho would probably protect her she could only agree with her as she told her that he most likely would do exactly that. Glancing over at Hyoyeon the moment the woman asked her if she wanted to have an ice-cream Ara looked kind of surprised over at the ice cream shop as she tried to figure out if she wanted to have an ice-cream or not. Somewhat hesitantly agreeing with her suggestion, since she wasn’t entirely sure of what she wanted, both of the women went over to the shop so they could get themselves an ice-cream.
Once inside, Ara needed some time to choose her two flavors. Admitting to Hyoyeon that she honestly didn’t have any idea what she liked, she also apologized towards her for needing some more time than other people usually would need. Eventually the young woman settled upon two very different flavors; melon and raspberry. Thanking Hyoyeon for the treat she kind of excitedly looked at the cone with the two different flavors. Hoping that she didn’t have made a mistakes by taking those two, she joked a bit about it when they left the shop and went to the laudromat.
Putting the clothes in the washing machine Ara went to sit next to Hyoyeon so they could eat their ice cream (which didn’t taste that bad but wasn’t the best thing in the world either for her). Listening attentively to all the tips Hyoyeon gave her about cleaning, cooking and washing clothes Ara was glad that Hyoyeon shared all of this knowledge with her. Hoping that she’d be able to remember everything she eventually decided to ask Hyoyeon’s number so that they could still stay in contact. In this way she would be able to tell Hyoyeon how the three of them were doing as well as she could ask her more advice about stuff. The woman seemed to be filled with good advices anyway, so she could better make use of that. Glad that Hyoyeon agreed to exchange numbers, it didn’t take them long to save each other’s number into their own phone.
Remaining a bit silent after that as she watched how the two washing machines were busy with washing the clothes of the two guys, Hyoyeon suddenly started to talk about Yunho again. Asking her whether or not it was serious between the both of them. Glancing over at the older woman with a slight smile she shrugged lightly before nodding her head. “I guess we’re really a couple yes.” Averting her gaze from the woman as she thought about the male, “It feels kind of weird to use the term ‘boyfriend’, though, but I perceive us as a couple.” She added, the smile widening as it turned slightly amused, slightly embarrassed. “It’s all going so fast and it actually started all of a sudden, but it feels right.” Glancing briefly up at Hyoyeon once more to see what she would react to her words, Ara quickly glanced back at the two machines as it felt kind of strange for her to talk about her own feelings. As a matter of fact, ‘her feelings’ was still a foreign concept to her anyway. She still had troubles with knowing what she really wanted and felt and thus it surely felt strange to talk about it to another person. Any person for that matter.
Hyoyeon had nothing whatsoever against Ara taking her time to pick out the flavours she wanted for her ice cream. Letting the girl decide in her own time, she chose her own ice cream already and paid for an extra two scoops alongside her own. When eventually Ara picked out what she wanted and had her cone in hand, Hyoyeon sent the other girl a bright grin before walking out of the ice cream parlour to head over to the laundromat. There she put her ice cream aside for a moment to put the clothes into the washing machine, add the right amount of washing powder and softener and then turn it on. Telling Ara exactly how much she needed as well so the other could do the same, she eventually managed to get back to her ice cream, sit down with it and enjoy her combo of pistachio and chocolate. Meanwhile talking to the other about this, that and everything that she deemed could be useful, Ara eventually ended up asking her phone number. Smiling warmly at the other, she nodded her head and agreed easily, handing her phone over to Ara and taking the younger woman's phone so they could put their numbers in each other's phones. Handing the device back to Ara after that, she leaned back in her chair a little and looked over at the working washing machines as a soft sigh left her.
And then something that had been bugging her came up and she turned her gaze over to Ara once more. "So.. You and Yunho.. It's serious then?" she asked with a slight smile, looking at the other girl for a moment before turning her gaze away, to not make Ara feel like she was part of an inquisition. Listening to the younger girl's reply, she nodded her head once or twice throughout it in understanding, her smile widening lightly as she thought of how nice it must be for the younger girl to have found someone like Yunho who seemed to fit together well with not just her but her ability too. Without Yunho, Ara would not have been able to be the way she was now; without other people's emotions attacking her from all sides. Hyoyeon could only imagine the relief Yunho's ability must bring the girl. Much unlike her. The guy's ability had only brought her a horrible trauma and now she always checked every part of herself for leftover hairs from the guy before she jumped in the water. Which was, by the way, a horrendously tedious task.
"Maybe you should leave a note with his laundry. To let him know you did it, so he won't give me false credit for it," she stated then, smiling warmly as she nodded over at the washing machine to support her words. "Something small but nice, I'm sure he'll like that." Pausing for a moment, Hyoyeon shrugged slightly. "Not that I know him that well but I think he'd like anything coming from you regardless of whether it is something he actually likes or something he would usually not give a second glance.
Helping Hands | Ara & Hyoyeon
In the two weeks she got to spend with Yunho Ara became as sociable as she could be to him whenever the male didn’t use his ability to suppress hers. It really felt nice to know that Yunho came to seek her out regularly and although she never really meant to, she also could feel how happy and excited he was whenever he saw her. Where she already had had a couple of relationships in her past, Ara never quite had experienced something like this. Especially the part where she as well was looking forward to see him again and how the male was kind of able to let her feel something small of her own even when he hadn’t suppressed her ability was simply amazing. All in all, she had to admit that she had quickly grown fond of Yunho in the time they had spend with each other and she couldn’t say she disliked that.
Making her own preparations for when the time came that they’d leave the circus Ara found herself sitting on her cot one day in the grey tent as she listened to some acoustic music on her old Ipod. Starting to loose herself into the music she suddenly picked up a feeling which came from someone else. Someone who was standing in front of the tent. Hearing how a female voice called her name Ara merely turned her head to the entrance as she pushed the white button on her Ipod to let the music stop. Waiting for a moment so she could get a better feel of the person who had asked for her she then answered in her normal neutral tone, “Yes?” Averting her eyes from the entrance when Hyoyeon ducked her head inside of the tent she didn’t see how the woman smiled warmly over at her. Not that she needed that anyway because she could feel that the woman was feeling rather comfortable. Hearing how she walked further inside of the tent she let her eyes rest on the two duffel bags the other was carrying. Listening to her question she shook her head briefly. “I’ve already done my laundry. I’m ready to leave tomorrow.” She stated in a neutral voice. Feeling how something changed in Hyoyeon’s feelings -confusing mainly setting up- because of her reply, Ara stood up then "But I’ll go along with you." Taking a couple of steps closer to Hyoyeon she reached out her hands and waited for her to hand her the bag which contained Yunho’s laundry. Not asking for it but also not thinking that she would have to do so since it was kind of obvious that she’d carry Yunho’s bag. Or at least that was what she thought.
Taking the bag over from Hyoyeon the moment the girl reached it out to her Ara immediately felt how her ability got pushed back. Letting her eyes fell close she heaved a relieved sigh before she then lifted her head and opened her eyes so she could look directly at Hyoyeon. “Well then, let’s go shall we?” Smiling warmly and kind of carefree, Ara threw the duffel bag over her shoulder. “Let’s help those two pigs out.” Joking lightly she went out of the tent behind Hyoyeon. “It’s nice to see you again, Hyoyeon. How have you been?” Glancing over at the woman as she asked her that both of them started to walk to the city so they could do the laundry of Daesung and Yunho.
Hyoyeon still remembered the first time she'd met Ara; when the other had joined the circus and she'd gone over to welcome her. The female's reactions had been exactly the same as they were now; short, cool and seemingly harsh. It had been quite a bit of a let-down for Hyoyeon to meet a person like that and had been surprised to say the least when Daesung had told her Yunho had come to like the Empath. That was until they had gone out with the four of them and Hyoyeon had discovered the side of Ara that came out when she was rid of her ability and could be herself without restrictions. It must have been hard to live her life continuously feeling other people's emotions and Hyoyeon could only imagine what it would be like. Which was a train of thought that only shortly entered her mind, being pushed aside the moment Ara mentioned leaving the next day. No matter how well she'd managed keeping it out of her mind until that point, Hyoyeon found her indecisiveness return to her instantly at the thought of their leaving. She'd already told Daesung good luck with it but had never truly indicated she wouldn't go along. Yet she knew that was what would be the case. She'd stay in the circus, loyal to her friends here whom she couldn't just leave. She'd stay and live her life like she had done before knowing any of these three people that would walk out.
Or at least that was what she tried to tell herself. Smiling lightly still at Ara - although a little less convincing now - she handed the other the bag with Yunho's clothes easily, deciding that if Ara was going to help out anyway she could just as well do her dear one's dirty laundry rather than those of Daesung. Hyoyeon was long used to doing both anyway so it didn't matter to her whose clothes she got. And as expected, the moment Ara's hands touched the bag, her eyes changed colour and after taking a moment to get used to the feeling - Hyoyeon assumed - the other looked up with a much warmer smile and the expression of the woman she'd gotten to know back on her face. Nodding her head once, she exited the tent and chuckled at the comment Ara made about the two pigs. "That they are," she hummed in agreement as she straightened up again outside of the tent, stretching her back for a moment and then throwing the bag over one shoulder so they could head off to the city. Ara's question had her turning her head lightly to glance at the other with a half-smile.
"Been well. It's nice to see you too," she replied, and although the first part didn't sound as convincing, the latter was obviously true as the warmth in her voice and the smile on her face proved. And their conversation continued from there, although Hyoyeon made sure that personal questions like "how have you been" would not be asked anymore since she kept the subject on the two guys, their dirty clothing habits and any other nice little anecdotes she could remember. After all - as she told Ara as well - if the younger woman was going to have to live with those two, she could better be prepared. And so as they walked Hyoyeon mostly filled the silence with stories and jokes about the two guys, warning Ara especially for Daesung's stealing moods but adding as an after thought that probably Yunho would protect her. More thoughts followed about that subject that she didn't voice aloud but that did bring a small smile to her face. Yet her attention was then pulled away when she spotted the laundromat and - along with that - the ice cream parlour she'd come to like since staying here. "Oh, oh!" she instantly piped up upon seeing it. "You want to get an ice cream cone? I feel like having some ice cream! My treat!" Looking over at Ara with a bright and somewhat hopeful grin, she waited for the younger girl to agree before she instantly headed over to the ice cream shop.
Letting Ara pick her flavours first, she then ordered her own and paid for both ice creams, after which they walked over to the laundromat with their duffel bags and ice cream. Putting the clothes in the washing machine first - and adding the proper amounts of washing powder and the likes - Hyoyeon then settled herself on a chair together with Ara so they could eat their ice creams in peace and talk some more about this or that. She didn't feel hesitant at all giving Ara some tips about washing clothes and even cooking while they sat there and soon the subject was back on the two guys that pretty much were the only reason they were out together at that point. Strange how such things went..
