honestly people joke about how chrom is very dumb cause of the shit he does: trusting a random stranger with anmesiaā¦.. going blindly into battleā¦.. absolutely agreeing to fight in a volcanoā¦. eating unpeeled orangesā¦ā¦ā¦..Ā but he really is STUPIDLY SMART. like he doesnāt realise how bright he is. he may seem like a walking himbo at first glance, but he really isnāt. he can be incredibly calculating. he knows how to go through battle plans. he is NOT AT ALL DUMB. Heās aware & sometimes even hyper aware. itās honestly such a crazy mix that i do not have the words to describe chrom. heās an idiot. but heās not an idiot.Ā
sometimes the things he says is just stuff that heās thinking. heās an honest man! whatever comes from his mouth comes straight from his thoughts. sometimes he doesnāt even realise what heās saying. which is why he may kind of take a moment in getting lost in peopleās reactions or if they ask him to repeat. because he legit will not remember what he said. its kinda like the in one ear, out the other but in this case, it forms in his head, can comes out of the mouth ā & he will not realise what was said after the fact.Ā Ā
anyway, long have i always been bothered with how chrom has been portrayed and drawn in fe. people use him as a stereotype and while itās not as bad as some characters i have seen, itās still PRETTY bad. heās not a dumbass. he doesnt HAVE to wear only one sleeve ā in official art, heās seen wearing full armour!!! ( i HATE IT when people are like, oh he rips clothing to show off his arm, like no??? he doesnāt??? ) i have always been one to enjoy the deeper meta about characters. but no, do NOT ever simplify chrom as a stereotype. heās more than conventional feed to stupid cliches. please donāt ever generalise chrom. not unless you KNOW that heās more than what heās known to do.Ā
chrom is so much more than eating unpeeled oranges and ripping sleeves off his right arm.
