How many of you are help captive by the fear of making a mistake. That there are goals and dreams that you would like to achieve but you are held back from starting because you are afraid that you will make a mistake. That the thought of making a mistake equates to failure. You only fail if you give up. Mistakes are part of the process and should not be looked at as the end of the world. In order to achieve your goals and dreams you are going to have to try different actions and plans. Then as these mistakes arise you make adjustments and keep moving ahead. Mistakes are needed in order to find the correct path toward success. Thomas Edison failed 1000 times when he was trying to create the incondecant light bulb. When asked about this he simply said “ I didn’t fail 1000 times, I just found 1000 ways not to make a light bulb”. You see that’s the mindset we need to have toward failure. A mindset that its a needed and should be embraced part of the process. So stay positive, adjust your plan when mistakes arise, and be happy that you’ve made them because now you can make the needed adjustments that will bring you closer to you goals and dreams. How many of you receive advice from people? How many of you don’t ask for this advice? Has the advice ever been from someone that doesn’t seem to implement this advice into their own lives? This is a common occurrence that I’m sure most people may have to deal with on a almost daily basis. Be careful of the advice that you allow yourself to receive. Always question the intent on the giver. You can also look at the person giving the advice and see if this person is following their own words. I mean if this advice is so great hen how come the person giving it isn’t following it themselves? Intentions of people is never fully understood till after the fact, and even then what may have thought to of been someone’s attempt to give constructive advice can turn into something destructive. In order to help yourself stay on course and not be distracted by the white noice of other people telling you how to run your life is to have a clear set of goals. So when the advice givers come around you can instantly compare his advice to what your goals are. If it seems like its advice that may help you towards your goals then Awesome thank the person and implement the advice. But if it seems like its useless information then forget it as fast as it was given to you. Another helpful tip is to consider the source. Does the person giving the advice have a life or have accomplished something that you too are trying to achieve? If so then this advice may be very helpful because those that have been to he mountaintop surely know the path and this advice may be the missing piece you’ve been searching for. What is your ideal life? What dreams and aspirations do you have? What do your goals look like? Are these items lacking in what others may consider reasonable terms? Good that means you are on the correct path. Your dreams and aspirations should be considered unreasonable. You should set a high expectation for what you want in life and hold yourself accountable to reaching that level. Through determination and discipline you will eventually reach this level and it will become the normal living condition of your life. Don’t stay content with this new level. Continue to raise your expectations on what you can accomplish and over time before you realize it the amount of upward progress will be astonishing. You have to be considered unreasonable by some in order to create a life of success, happiness, and abundance. How many people out there are working jobs they are miserable in? How many people are stuck in relationships that are one sided or dysfunctional? How many are continuing down a path that doesn’t exactly give the most fulfilling sense of accomplishment or happiness? How many of you feel as though they have given up on their dreams and goals for life? This is extremely common. What is going on is the job that you are working has a salary/hourly wage. This amount of money for example could be $50,000. This $50,000 is what it took for you to feel comfortable and satisfy your basic needs to survive. The problem is that this $50,000 is all it took for you to forget about winning in life. It’s the amount of money that it took for you to sell out your will to win. The same goes for relationships. The crappy relationships your currently in are fulfilling your basic needs so your clinging to them, scared that you won’t ever have those basic needs met any other way. What you have to understand is that becoming comfortable and complacent is our own worse enemy. This is what allows us to sell out and forget about winning. The only way we stop this is by changing our mindset and holding ourselves accountable for our own happiness and success. We need to never be satisfied with the person we are, the relationships we have, and the money we make. We should always want to WIN in this game of life. Did you ever stop to think about why your cars windshield is something in the area of a 1000 times larger than your review mirror? Why do you think this is? It’s because you should be more focused on what’s directly in front of you and where you are heading than where you have came from. In life much like driving a car it’s imperative that your focus be forward on what’s in the now and in front of you. Now there is some value and significance to remember where you have came from and have an understanding of the progress you’ve made along the way on your path to success and happiness. But if you stay fixed on what is behind you in life both your failures and successes you will never be able to move forward in the most efficient way. Imagine your driving your car on the highway at 65 miles per hour. Now you stop looking through the windshield and you start staring through the rearview mirror. What’s gonna happen? At first you may be fine because the direction and momentum you have had keeps you going where you want to go but eventually you will start to drift off the road and crash. Especially if there is a curve that pops up on the road, we all have curves pop up in our lives frequently that we need to navigate over, around, or under. The only way you can ever keep the car on the highway is to start looking out the windshield again and make the corrections needed to keep the car heading in the direction you want it to. Just like life. So if you find yourself constantly going off course or even worse crashing then it’s a good possibility that you are spending too much of your time focused on progress or mistakes of the past. We are allowing ourselves to get caught up in someone else’s life instead of focusing on what we can do in our own life’s to move ourselves toward the goals and aspirations we have. You see its easy to sit around and judge what others are doing instead of looking inward at ourselves. There is no risk or possible failure in judging someone else’s life. It’s actually a pretty weak pathetic thing to do. So when you find yourself begging to cast the shroud of judgement STOP!! Take that energy and focus it back on yourself. Focus on what YOU need to do and what YOU are trying to accomplish in your life. Don’t be lazy and allow your self to cast judgement. How many people do you know that are consumed by singular goal or purpose. That these people seem to spend all their waking moments focusing on this single task that they begin to neglect multiple other avenues in their life. They may begin to neglect their health by not exercising or eating a healthy diet. They may begin to start ignoring the important personal relationships in their life like a spouse, or their children, extended family, or their friends. They begin to ignore anything outside the realm of their immediate obsession like the personal entertainment items done in the past, a hobby, movies, tv shows, watching sports, whatever. Over time they have eventually replaced every waking moment doing this single track idea. Most of us know someone like this. You are probably looking at them everyday in the mirror when you are brushing your teeth. It’s easy for us to become a person like this when we begin to focus on making money and providing for our family. When you talk with these people in the beginning they will say things like “I’m just focusing on my work” or “I’m trying to provide a better lifestyle for my family”. All very noble goals indeed. But there is a problem with this mindset. It doesn’t last for the long haul. This type of behavior may work for a short period of time but to sustain it for a long period of time is next to impossible. This is a sprinters mindset which may be fine to attain a single goal or two but to transform your lifestyle to this isn’t the best way to the path of long term happiness and success. Eventually these people will hit a wall and begin to burn out. Their achievements will begin to slow down and they may even stumble backwards and lose some of the ground they have gained through their singular focused life. In order to achieve long term happiness and high levels of success and achievement you have to adopt the marathon runners mindset. You have to find a lifestyle that will be filling multiple buckets of fulfillment in your life.
