Hot take
If society was less homophpbic and more accepting of gnc individuals, we would have a lot less people identifying as the opposite gender
If you think âall women have vaginasâ is the same as âwomen are nothing more than their vaginasâ then congrats, youâre a misogynist :/
a man and a woman: we would like a wedding cake please
homophobic baker: ok! congratulations on getting married
a man and a woman: ok but will u still want to make our cake when we tell u that we didnt feel any urge to have sex with each other until we knew each other extremely well? pretty queer right
homophobic baker: why are you telling me this
Dear Young Women of Tumblr,
Never feel you must identify out of being female.
Never feel you must identify as non-binary, agender, gender-neutral, genderqueer, or any other option outside your natural sex. Even if:
You donât âfeel like a girl.â
You have little or no interest in sex or relationships with boys or girls.
You dislike makeup, feminine clothing, and âbeing girly.â
You are uncomfortable with your body.
You are uncomfortable with how others view your body.
You enjoy doing âboyâ things and feeling powerful and in control.Â
All of these things are perfectly normal for a women to feel, and due to our highly gendered society can sometimes seem unbearable. I know. I have been there. But creative, intelligent, strong, kind, and fiercely unique and independent women have always existed - and you can, too, just as you are.
Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie, Frida Kahlo, Agatha Christie, Sally Ride, Rachel Maddow, Georgia OâKeefe, Abby Wambach, Amelia Earhart, Malala Yousafzai and so many others are here for you - however you want to express yourself, whoever you want to be.Â
It isnât always easy, but itâs worth it. So worth it. Hang in there. <3
I just learned what MOGAI means, i thought it was an anime this whole time
âmarginalized orientationsâ Iâm fuckingnf, no one ever tied a panromantic gender queer asexual to the back of a truck and dragged them over gravel on account of their special âidentityâ or what the fuck ever
heres a take: the people who have the power to oppress donât give a single shit about made up genders created by the Kweer community because structural oppression in this context is SEX based, the people with the power to oppress are concerned with your sex and sexual orientation jfc
but theyâre just so oppressed and marginalized they need a movement separate from the âprivilegedâ cis gays that literally started the community
ok
Itâs even funnier because they honestly believe society, which was established centuries ago, was built around oppressing the identities they literally made up within the past few years.
I think terfs confuse gender roles and gender expression as the same thing
how are they different. seriously. I donât see a difference. itâs all stereotypes.
Well gender roles are the stereotypical roles that society tries to place on men and women while gender expression is just how a person expresses their gender or lack thereof which completely differs from person to person and is completely harmless and means a shit ton to people.
you mean like, a personality?
what you are describing is a personality.
something everyone has, it differs from person to person, and is personal and meaningful. personality and personal fashion tastes are not a gender.
probably the worst take on this website is the âugh those privileged cis gaysâ mentality, as if gay men arenât one of the most persecuted groups in the world? and like, it absolutely comes from this mogai mentality that the more obscure your labels are, the more oppressed you are (and therefore the better/less problematic/more âpureâ you are as a person), and thatâs why we end up with 14-year-old lgbt kids struggling to come up with super specific labels for every single facet of their identity in order to prove theyâre worth something to older people who they look up to on here, and yâall need to stop
#peaktrans
If you ainât shedding the lining of your uterus, itâs not a fucking period.
3rd rule of misogyny: Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
trans is an indulgence of the privileged.
Is there a transwoman alive who isnât fucking garbage
naw.
all males is the same.
Trans is an indulgence of the privileged
Trans is using your power and privilege to be misogynistic and stop women from doing anything
âUsing bleeding as a crucial part of periodsâŚâ these men will never understand or care
They donât even know about the female reproductive system
Didnât they learn about this in school?
The funny thing is that they say the name is period because is a period of time so trans woman menstuate too. BUT menstruation is only called period in english. Period is a slang. In portuguese menstruation is NOT called period.
So they really think that the english language change biology? XD
They donât even know what we say when we are having our periods
They donât even know anything about women but demand that everyone call them women
Trans'womenâ are not women and they never will be
Get over it
People who believe that small children are proof that gender roles are natural are really on a whole other level.
A young child, using words she learned purely by mimicking the way others speak: I want to be a mommy when I grow up.
Yâall absolute Mensa candidates: Wow. This child is a blank slate. Completely unaffected by society. Guess lady-brains truly are the only explanation here, science deniers.Â
Babies cry with an accent within a day of being born, and can even observe sounds while theyâre still in the womb. Thereâs no stage of life where people arenât already affected by socialisation, everyone who believes that nature can truly be separated from nurture is naive as fuck.Â
I absolutely love this post just because of the ây'all absolute mensa candidatesâ at the top.
So thereâs this part of the mammalian brain called the neocortex. Itâs the part of the mammalian brain which is basically a blank slate that just process input, figures out and predicts patterns from that input, and suborns autonomic processes to higher-level abstract patterns it works out from all that data. (On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins, excellent neuroscience book, I highly recommend it). And humanityâs whole Thing is that our neocortex has become massively oversized and completely taken over our brain, to the point where it directs the action of the rest of the brain rather than the other way around like in other mammals. Thatâs basically our whole schtick as a species, being run by this massive blank-slate pattern matching machine rather than preprogrammed instincts.
Other mammals are instincts with some learning thrown on top, but humans are basically only learning, with some residual instincts to make sure we donât fuck up too bad. Thatâs one of the reasons why humans take so much longer to develop motor skills than other species, because our brain has usurped the typical mammalian in-born neural motor programming with a blank slate that has to just like ⌠figure that shit out on itâs own. Human babies canât even see properly when theyâre first born, even though they have perfectly functioning eyes, because our brain replaced all that silly mammalian visual recognition software with the neurological equivalent of a blank sheet of paper, a pencil, a shrug, and âyouâll figure it out, go get âem tigerâ.
And thatâs a huge advantage! Evolution can only adapt a species really, really slowly, to changing conditions over millions of years. Typical mammalian neocortices are a fantastic patch on that which allow adaptation over the course of a creatureâs lifetime, but they donât allow for that adaptation to be passed on, and itâs still just a patch on the greater impetus of evolved instincts. But humans. Ohohohoh. Humans are nothing but adaptation. Our ability to mimic and pass on behavior means that we donât need a lot of those built up evolutionary behaviors which change so slowly, because we just can figure that shit out by mimicry and raw learning anyway. So we just ditched most of it and a lot of whatâs left now comes with a âyou can learn to override this if you need toâ feature. Itâs a way, way more flexible and adaptable system than that old clunky âbeing a bunch of preprogrammed mental softwareâ thing other mammals use.
So the idea that you can assume anything about humansâ intrinsic instincts by looking at their behavior when young is just ridiculous. From the moment weâre born we are tiny pattern matching machines, intaking and copying everything around us, because we literally do not have enough instinct left as a species to exist without pattern matching otherâs behavior. We canât even fucking see without having to learn it from scratch. But yeah, Iâm sure intrinsic gendered social skills and housecare aptitude made the evolutionary cut when fucking sight and walking got the axe.
I hope all terfs get a taste of the oppression that trans people have faced for years and years. I hope they find out how being told that youâre making up your feelings, that youâre a predator for existing, and that youâre totally invalid from your own community feels.I hope they realise that the reason that they are so universally hated is because theyâre doing the same thing that people have done for hundreds of years, something that we all thought was over and done with.
what do you think lesbians, females, and women of colour have been going through for centuries you dumb fuck
lmao
This is what drives me insane about TRA. âYou dont know what its like to fear walking around in a dress! You donât fear being harassed assaulted raped and murdered! Etc.â
?????????!!!!!!!! Women are killed every day. 1 in 3 women are assaulted by an intimate partner in their lives. 1 in 4 are raped. Countless more are sexually harassed. We are still fighting for the rights to our bodily autonomy. I could go on and on. I fear for my life every day because I AM A WOMAN. Yet somehow weâre privileged because????? Weâre women???? Literally makes ZERO sense. And now weâre forced to defend the spaces we created for ourselves from entitled menâŚ
If youâre a white TIM you donât have much to worry about. And the hate you experience is homophobia for being seen as a GNC male, not this bullshit term âtransmisogynyâ (that word drives me up a wallll omfg).
MALE VIOLENCE is the problem. NOT TERFs.
Now youâre just beginning to understand what we have gone through our entire lives? Yet somehow you have it worse? Get over yourselves.
if you tell me that itâs not feminist to talk about something that affects/applies to the vast majority of women simply because it doesnât apply to every single woman ever or because some people who arenât women experience it too⌠then what youâre doing is silencing women.
if 99% of the victims of an issue are women, itâs a womenâs issue. fight me.
What is so frightening about the trans movement is how young it is. Thereâs incredibly few long-term studies on the effects of the hormones/puberty blockers involved. Thereâs no older transgender generation to look at to observe how such extreme changes leave the individual undergoing them 20, 30, 40 years in the future. Itâs baffling why weâre encouraging a demographic of people largely under 30 to âtreatâ their mental illness with drastic, permanent changes to their bodies and genitals.
the term ânon binaryâ is completely redundant. Men and women can act and dress however they want without it needing to be some super special new identity
In fact, identifying as ânon binaryâ only further enforces gender roles
For someone to identify as âout of the boxâ, there need to be boxes and other people to put in those boxes.
so many things in this mogai/âqueer communityâ/ace discourse on tumblr actually goes directly against what LGBT people have been fighting for for decades:
- all of these âsexualitiesâ that are just describing how someone likes to have sex when LGBT people have been trying to explain to straights for years that our labels, our orientations, and our lives are NOT solely focused on sex and therefore inappropriate to mention in public or in front of kids
- asexuals joking (or being completely serious) about how gross PDA is, specifically gay PDA, when LGBT have been murdered for showing the slightest affection in public
- the neverending pride flags for mogai âsexualitiesâ and now for mental illnesses? is frankly one of the most disrespectful things I have ever seen. People have DIED for our pride flag. It has a real, important history. Itâs not something some socially awkward kid on the internet made in paint.Â
- so many people wanting to be part of the LGBT community without understanding that itâs not just some community for all outcasts, it is a political alliance with an important history
- the casual use of the term âqueerâ and the non-LGBT people who identify with it because they believe they are âdifferentâ and ânot normalâ and âthatâs what the word originally meantâ as if thatâs not exactly why it was used as a fucking slur against only gay/bi/trans people for decadesÂ
 - the general attitude of âIâm LGBT/queer because Iâm differentâ  when actual LGBT people have been fighting for EQUALITY, as in we donât WANT TO BE SEEN AS DIFFERENTÂ
it just all blows my mind and it honestly scares me because itâs dangerous. itâs fucking dangerous. we have so many cis hetero people trying to barge into our community and change it into the opposite of what it is supposed to be.Â
And some of these little creeps want to deride gay and lesbian people for simply being normal, for wanting a peaceful life and a partner, as if sexual orientation  is about, as OP said so clearly, about sexual fetishes, where it is in fact simply, solely about the sex of the people to whom you are capable of being attracted.Â
How do you write this complaint while using the word âcisâ, the same word put in front of âgay men/womenâ to veil homophobia. Your language contributes towards the problem.
no such thing as âcisâ.
This has probably been said many ways before but the fundamental problem with gender identity politics is it identifies gender as internal, while radfems recognize that gender is external.
Gender is not how you feel. It is what is done to you. It is how you are socialized - or oppressed - based on the body you were born in. And it will continue to be done to you regardless of how you feel. Nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer/demiboy âafabsâ will continue to be treated as women, with all the risks and expectations it entails.
And it makes sense that people would want to âidentifyâ out of their gender, especially females, because of all the bullshit roles and rules enforced by mandatory femininity. But your personal, internal identity is not going to change how the world treats you (except in the case of transitioned passing persons). Your identity is who you are; and you are much more than a gender.
