i'll never forget the way people spoke about iga hitting a ball slightly harder than she probably should have in the heat of the moment when she was frustrated in a match. and she later over-apologised for the incident on her instagram. and people were behaving as if she'd killed the ballkid with it - I distinctly recall so many people saying 'hard to support iga after all her antics' and 'so hard to get on board with swiatek with the mind-games and the tantrums' and i really hope these same people now entirely revile and have written similarly disparaging things about daniil considering what he did and has done was more disruptive.

and then when naomi was clearly heartbroken and forgot to congratulate vicky and then righted herself in her presser once she'd had time to think. the number of people talking about 'she's in her late 20s, super immature, so hard to get behind her now' or 'sick of her talking about mental health only when it benefits her'. if your support is that fragile, i don't think it's worth mentioning that you've stopped supporting her. i don't think you did in the first place, you just want to say something mean about naomi (i wonder why?)

i mean, do or don't hold these standards or think this way about people expressing emotions in the middle of a match. just don't vary your response based on whether they're playing for the atp or the wta
