"I guess when we were together again, I thought itâd be like it was before I left." He snorts bitterly at the thought. "I was in for a rude awakening."
He scowls again, and goes back to paying attention to his buffing. He moves down to his legs now, first moving the buffer along his right thigh. He watches it work, the collection of small scratches and scuff marks beginning to vanish, revealing a green paintjob that could almost pass for new. He has to stop himself from snorting at that, thinking to himself he hasnât felt ânewâ in a long time.
"I donât like feeling like this," he says, referring to the now, near constant distance between them, the feeling of loneliness that he gets sometimes. "But I donât know how to change it."
The blue seeker blinks at his twinâs words before his spark gives a small pang at that bitter snort and the words of the green seeker. He holds no comment in return, merely allowing his twin to return to his buffering and his own gaze to trail down.
Heâd always imagined them being happy, because after his twin had left he was- miserable. Even more so after his death. What would he do if he lost him again? Especially with this uncomfortable distance heâd been forcing between them, would he be able to cope with that?
It wasnât likely, and although he wasnât really sure why they were acting like this, why they chose to pick fights instead of merely looking past it- well, perhaps the war was grinding down on them.
And their patience.
"I donât either," he retorts after a small span of silence following the otherâs words before he pulls his helm back up, red gaze shifting up to his twinâs faceplating. "Iâm not sure how to fix it, but I think weâre on the right track. Iâve never exactly been too good at that- neither of us have." He murmurs gently, staying where he is for a moment in hesitation before slowly stepping forward, "I think, maybe, we should start over, reset this whole solar-cycle and ignore that useless banter. Maybe we just needed that out of the way?"
Skyquake hears Dreadwingâs words, and sees him step slightly closer, but he doesnât look him in the face, instead concentrating on finishing the lower half of his right leg. When he has completed it to his satisfaction, he moves to his left leg, buffing along his thigh, before moving downward. It takes a while to do both of his legs, and Dreadwing speaks while he does so.
Skyquake almost lets out a bitter laugh at Dreadwingâs comment to âstart overâ, but he stops himself. He knows if he shoots down the idea itâll just lead to another argument and theyâll wind up not talking to one another for an even longer period of time, which will only make the two even more miserable in turn.
He finishes buffing along his left foot, and he stands upright, looking down at the lower half of his body, satisfied. He shuts the buffer off and looks at Dreadwing, surprised to see Dreadwing is actually looking at him instead of away from him. The idea of just âresettingâ things didnât particularly satisfy Skyquake, who has a tendency to never forget something that is said, and has far less of a tendency to admit he was wrong and apologize.
"Fine," he says. "We can try to⊠start over." The tone of his voice doesnât inspire confidence, but he decides to give it a try.
He hands the buffer over to Dreadwing. âGet my wings for me.â
Dreadwing knew it was mostly his fault-- it wasn't right for him to start in on his twin the moment he saw him, as he had. So as his twin drags that silence on after his words, preferring to apparently tidy himself up instead, he waits.
When his twin finally looks up to him, he offers the best apologetic smile he can really muster, only for it to falter at that rather unsettling response. But he doesn't complain, he knew it was the best he was going to get from the green mech.Â
"Alright," he responds after a moment or two, moving to take that buffer into his servos once more as he moved to the back of the green seeker, not uttering another word as he powered it on and moved to- carefully- begin buffering the other's wings.
