Lacquer work is the main profession of this semi nomadic community of Vadhs(wood cutter in gujrati). This technique is used to color items like Spoons and ladles, chakla – belan (board and rolling pin), toys, stools, dandiya sticks etc.by them. Transferring stripes of colour from an unpolished lacquered stick and then pushing the colours into each other on the lathe. This creates the peculiar kaleidoscopic design with vivid motley colours. Most of the process of making lacquer-ware is done on a manual lathe.Babool wood, local material is mostly used for the products. The colour is made from stones found in the surroundings and lacquer bought from local markets. #lacquer #art #artist #color #productdesign https://www.instagram.com/p/B-0_cljFEnp/?igshid=2po783e50x2z
Tangaliya weaving, also known as Daana weaving is mainly practiced by the Dangasia community, this form of weaving requires high skill level and an eye for accuracy. Tiny dots of extra weft are twisted around a number of warp threads, giving an effect of bead embroidery to the fabric. This intricate process of twisting extra weft while weaving creates beautiful geometrical patterns and forms. The essence of Tangaliya weaving is the compositions created by colourful dots, which is simultaneously created on both the sides of the fabric. Cotton, silk and acrylic yarn are the most important raw materials used to make contemporary Daana weaving garments. #textiledesign #textile #art #tangalia #community #culturalheritage https://www.instagram.com/p/B-yZjYZlzKE/?igshid=v2dklxi1kgyd
