surprising to no one, it’s incredibly difficult to make a version of Tarzan that is not racist!

the og book actually has him meet other people before jane. book Tarzan just DOESN’T SEE THEM AS PEOPLE.

the focus of my adaptation is Tarzan and Jane and the jungle is a metaphor for love without the restrictions of conservative society, as in my version Tarzan is a girl.

But the fact remains that the original novels were incredibly racist, and I don’t feel it’s right to ignore the fact that Tarzan was on a continent FULL of people.

Just wanting to share as I go through the journey of adapting something that aged HORRIFICALLY.

Kinda wish Kai had stepped out of the memory recovery room/vacation room while Nya and Jay were … busy … in episode 5 and had his own whole administration adventure. Then he’s trying to tell his sister and brother in law about it later but they don’t believe him, they think he’s just trying to avoid their reunion.

Season 5 but Jay takes the cave vision as reassurance that he and Nya will sort out their friendship, since they’ve been getting back to getting along through s4-5.

Hunted Nya realizing that she misses Jay almost as much as she misses Kai, and that she missed out on a lot that she wanted by pushing him away instead of communicating her problems so they could work them out.

Post hunted Nya trying to get Jay back, but she has no game and he’s oblivious to her signals. He got it through his thick head that she didn’t want him that way years ago.

Post Seabound Jay finally figuring it out when they talk about her sacrifice and he helps her through her water ptsd.

And then the merge happens.

Please don't come after me but sometimes it feels like the ninjago fandom ignores Nya's trauma from sky bound and makes it all about Jay. There is SO much angst potential for Nya from her feeling hated/ignored by the public that adores the rest of the team to literally DYING at the end. (and struggling while being the only girl on the team and constantly looked down upon) But I might be a little obsessed with her so take this with a grain of salt.
