What was I trying to accomplish with my anonymous Tumblr?

‘If you were on Tumblr in the early 2010s, you may remember a blog called Your Fave Is Problematic. If not, its content should still sound familiar to you. The posts contained long lists of celebrities’ regrettable (racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ethnophobic, ableist and so on) statements and actions — the stuff that gets people canceled these days.

No, I'm not back. In fact, this is probably the last post I'm going to make on this blog.

I kinda just want to talk about them a bit. One of my friends moots apparently reblogged a picture of Rena and got attacked or something??? I'm not 100% sure but I did send her an anon you can read here.

I'm really just here to expand on what I wrote. In 2016 I stopped running this blog bc I realized it was bad for my mental health. In the years since I've been unpacking a lot of internalized misogyny and trauma, and some of it was towards HV.

First of all, I definitely owe Rena and Nia an apology. I definitely think some of the things they said and did were problematic, but they were also kids. Hell, Rena's only like a year older than me. We treated her like the devil incarcerate when she was still growing and changing, and I think that's really unfair. I hated her because I was jelaous of her proximity to Michael (I actually hated Crystal for similar reasons which I worked through last year), and I latched on to the bad things she did because it gave me reasons to hate her. I self-identified as a feminist, so I couldn't just hate her for no reason. Even after I stopped liking 5sos, I felt like I had to hold you to hating them bc I'd look fake woke if I didn't. I think you could tell by the end of my run that I was just tired of putting up a front of hating them when I couldn't care less.

Also, I want to point out that a lot of the things people hated about them was directly Ana's fault. She basically pimped her (at the time) teenaged daughters out to the fame machine. Julia herself said it was the parents fault she was driven out of CB, and quite frankly she's right. She doesn't blame the girls for what happened, and I think we should follow her example.

Also, HV's crime's are nothing compared to the multitude of shit men in the industry have gotten away with. Just look at Iain for example. Yes, they made mistakes and did dumb shit, but I think it's time we let it go. Rena, Nia, and Casey seem like kind adults who love making music for their fans, and I'm happy to let them be.

what do you think of the hv and 5sos releases since you stopped running the blog?

HV: other than Hoodie (which is on my job's playlist so I hear it occasionally) I haven't listened to a single HV song with the exception of I Can Feel It since 2016 so I have no idea what's happening there lol

5SOS: Youngblood is decent. I think having Want U Back as the lead single was a mistake, bc of it I didn't listen to the album until like 6 months after it was released. If they had Youngblood (which slaps) as the lead I probably would have gotten into it sooner. I like most of the album, especially Youngblood and Valentine, but I wish they would have kept the direction of SGFG. I'm definitely not a stan anymore but I listen to their songs on occasion and like posts with them occasionally.

Hey are u still active?

I haven't posted on here in over a year, so I feel like the answer is pretty safely no.

I thought about coming back when Iain was outed as a rapist, but beyond my (correct) prediction that they would kick him out to save what little of a career they have left, I couldn't bring myself to actively pay attention to them. Pretty much all my news when it comes to them is a not very active Kik chat with a bunch of former/current hv exposers.

I started this blog when I was 15 or 16, and pretty much the only reasons why were because 1. I hated Rena to the point of obsession and 2. I wanted to be popular. I was one of the first exposing accounts here for hv, which meant I got what I wanted. But focusing on people you don't like exausts mentally and physically, and by the time I stopped running this blog full time I was going into my senior year of high school. Now I'm 20 years old and work and go to school full time, which means I don't really care to spend the little free time I have on a band going absolutely nowhere. They're not going to get famous, and they'll fade into obscurity in a matter of years, and that's honestly good enough for me.

If something big happens and you send me an ask, I'm happy to look into it and answer. But beyond that, I have zero plans on coming back full time.

I agree with you about Miranda, we can easily say that she was/is the only one who had/has a life outside that band. I can also see her not wanting to associate herself with them anymore because she wants to go on with her life: on a recent instagram post she said she was accepted into a community college for the 2018 Spring semester. I think she gas also been more invested in theatre. If you compare her recent pictures with old ones during hv's days she seems more happier.

miranda grew up doing musical theatre because her parents owned a company!there’s a video of her from the ‘13/14 break doing a production and she fits in!she’s always prioritised school and always made the point of keeping the band and her personal life separatemiranda kept her grades up and had friends away from the band and did theatre on the sideshe had a life

i think miranda is happier now and was happier in CB days, because it’s what she chose to do she seems to be one of those people that won’t put up with bullshit and will really put herself first
