I’m crying so much
NEW STAR EVOLUTION || Open
Shin slowly put on his headphones. He wasn’t a fan of the fact that they blocked out sound, but they were a gift from Chizuru, and he was feeling a bit nostalgic today. It had been one year since they had released their debut album: NEW STAR EVOLUTION. But unlike one year ago, they weren’t together. The exchange with BIGDREAMS agency had resulted in the temporary separation of DearDream for training and that was why Shin was standing in the park alone, staring at his phone.
The screen was lit up with congratulatory messages from others at the agency and the other members of DearDream themselves. Shin had already replied to all of them, but he enjoyed rereading the messages and imagining the way they would say it in his head. As he went to the music section on his phone, he sighed. Even though he had asked for the day off from work, it would be good to practice his dancing at the park. After selecting the instrumental version of the first song on their debut album, he secured his phone in his jacket and got into position. Then he clicked play.
As soon as the music started, his limbs went into action. Despite the fact that it had been a while since he had danced to this song, it was clear that his muscle memory hadn’t forgotten. Shin hadn’t forgotten the words either; he sang them loud and clear, even if it was originally another member’s part. If he closed his eyes for a few seconds, it was as if he was back in Japan with the rest of DearDream, recording the music video for the first time. However, that wasn’t the case. He was dancing and singing alone in the park, where anyone could be watching. As he struck the final pose, the song faded out. All he could hear was the sound of his own breathing. He would have to tell Chizuru that the headphones were excellent at blocking out sound, because he hadn’t heard the person standing in front of him approach.
Notifications popped up on her phone, one after another. Most of them were just tweets and email notifications, either YouTube telling her that one of her favourite youtaites uploaded a new video or a K-pop dancer tweeting that they were working on a new choreography. None of them were actually important. Jung-a only considered texts from family and friends and emails from work to be important. She swiped them off of the screen, slowly going through them to ensure that nothing was missed. It seemed like everyone she was subscribed to or followed had something new to put up. Maybe it was time to unfollow some people.
Once there were no more notifications to read, Jung-a got up from the park bench, ready to continue heading to the nearest cafe. She still hadn’t had her morning coffee, and it was already past noon. While she still wasn’t as addicted as some of her friends were (Mira would get terrible headaches without coffee and Summer wouldn’t be able to stay awake for more than five minutes), it was still a daily ritual of hers. If she had time, that was.
Something from the corner of her eye caught her attention. It was not hard to notice, really, considering that most people in the park were already watching and pointing. A man had headphones on, and was dancing along to whatever song he was listening to, along with singing the lyrics quite loudly. Vaguely, Jung-a recognized the song, but couldn’t put her finger on what it was called. There was no time to get into any fandoms, whether it was shows or idols. Still, she recognized the man that was dancing. His name was Oikawa, or at least his last name was, and he had won Dream Festival. It was one of the biggest idol competitions in Japan, so naturally Jung-a had heard about it, despite being Korean.
Once the song was done and the final position was made, the people remaining clapped and cheered. It wasn’t a half-bad performance, considering the fact that his eyes were closed the whole time and it felt like there was no connection with the audience. Then again, he probably didn’t mean for there to be an audience. Like everyone else, Jung-a clapped. Unlike everyone else, she didn’t leave before he could notice her.

Her silence wasn’t something he liked, then again, he did come off in a rather intimidating manner to some. Closing his eyes for a brief moment, Edward sighed. He would apologise later for his roughness, now was the time for figuring out what to do for their mission. He had to remind himself that this was supposed to be fun, not some challenge to show off how much strength and intellect he had. Yet, it was hard for someone as stubborn as him. He always wanted to be on top.
“Memorising. That’ll come in handy if we’re starting with the mall then. We’ll have to remember the description of the items and then figure out what it could be.” He could only remember things in short phrases. For example, an apple would be reduced to just ‘round, red, fruit, easily bruised’. If he was to remember something longer and more complex, then he would have to spend a good couple of minutes to properly memorise it. Nevertheless, he gave a nod of his head. A silent confirmation that the two should get moving.
He started walked, hoping that she would follow as soon as he started. Unlike his outwardly attitude, he had calmed down. He made sure he wasn’t walking too fast and didn’t treat the person tied to his wrist like a rag doll. After all, he was going to need her and to start an argument would be only a hindrance to the Valrace. “…Sorry.” Those were the only words he spat out on their way towards the mall. It sounded half-hearted, only because of his embarrassment of forcing himself to utter an apology.
At this point her eyes were already on the ground, in a sort of yielding way. With his words it was clear that Edward just wanted to win, and, unlike her, didn’t sign up for the race to meet new people and possibly have some fun. A small part of her still wanted to look for a part of him that was “fun”, but another part thought that it was going to be futile.
She felt a tug on her hand, and then she realized that Edward had started walking. Jung-a hadn’t been looking, so she hadn’t noticed. Quickly, the woman caught up before the distance was too large, not wanting the string that tied them together to break. If the string broke, they’d be out of the race. And spending her Valentine’s Day doing challenges with this guy definitely seemed a lot more fun than being cooped up in her condo, doing work all day. Just stay positive Jung-a.
She felt like a dog being led on a leash, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. If anything, she just felt a bit restricted, which basically was the story of her life. Her lack of expressions had always made people think that she couldn’t feel, and so they treated her as a robot. Jung-a couldn’t change everyone’s thinking, and so she just had to deal with it. Just like she had to deal with Edward taking over as team leader now.
The small apology stunned her slightly. The part of her that hoped he was a good person cheered, but right away she made excuses; maybe the apology wasn’t for her. Plus, she had no idea what he was saying sorry, and he probably expected her to know. “There’s nothing to apologize for. It’s perfectly fine.” Hopefully it was meant for her, and she hadn’t just made a fool of herself. If not, the mall was already in view, and they would be distracted by the challenge.
Story of Someone We Know - Breakup
The King Next Door
rosepetalcatastrophe:
Saber waited there for a few minutes still practicing her introduction, she didn’t want to mess this up it was the only chance for a first impression she would ever get, with this person at least. The thought of leaving had crossed her mind at least seventeen times by now, but that would be rude to be caught walking away from the door she already knocked on. A few minutes passed as Saber waited before hearing footsteps approach she put a smile on her face trying to act like she actually wanted to talk to this person. Saber took quick breaths until the door started to open and her body quickly froze in place her breaths stopping all together her face turned a bit blue.
The door opened now Saber was able to the woman standing there answering her. Saber didn’t mean to ignore what the woman said but her mouth just blurted something out, though it was entirely not what she meant to say. “Claudius name hello my is Saber!” Saber took a moment to register what she had actually said and the fact it wasn’t anything at all resembling what she had been practicing. Saber was not one for one on one conversations with new people. “Uhhhhh…” Saber said this her face returning to a shade of red; Saber was nervous and hadn’t actually practiced for if she messed up. “Goodbye! I’m sorry!”
Saber turned her back and immediately hit her palm against her forehead her white gold ring shimmering in the light. Saber was now mumbling thing under her breath as she prepared to walk back to her home, this was the last time she would try to start introductions with anyone. It didn’t help the girl was a little pretty to Saber which only made her more nervous when thoughts of her spouse and odd things came up when looking at her. Saber was now thinking she should have done research before actually trying to greet people.
A smaller girl stood at the door, visibly nervous about something. She looked to Jung-a to be somewhat younger, obviously older than a high schooler, but otherwise her age was indiscernible. After a few seconds of observation, the woman realized something: the girl’s face was tinted slightly blue. Not only that, but it looked like she wasn’t breathing. “Are you okay? Do you need me to call an ambulance?” she asked, one hand already reaching backwards to grab the home phone that was near the entrance to the condo. On the inside, Jung-a’s heart was racing, panic flowing through her, despite her face being so calm. If only she had gotten up from her computer earlier! If something happened to this girl in front of her door, and Jung-a could’ve saved her by answering the door quicker, it definitely would become the biggest regret of her life.
“Claudius name hello my is Saber!”
The incomprehensible sentence came out of the girl’s mouth, and two seconds later her face went from being a bit blue to a bright red - almost looking like an overly ripe apple.
Ah, so she was only shy. Jung-a let out a small sigh of relief that nothing bad was happening, not realizing that she had been holding her breath. Just like the girl, Jung-a had been shy at one point too. She had disliked joining clubs and groups, especially if they had something to do with speaking in front of many people, or going outdoors to do group activities. Luckily, she had mostly grown out of that by now. There were only a few things that could truly make her panic these days, but her facial expressions would never give her away.
“Oh, no, you don’t have to leave.” It was obvious that the girl wanted to run away, especially by the fact that she already said goodbye. Whatever the girl’s reason for knocking on her door was, it didn’t matter. Jung-a smiled, “I’m Jung-a Lee. Nice to meet you, Claudius - or is it Saber? If you want, you can come in to have some tea. I’m not busy right now.” Yeah, as if Summer’s blog wasn’t half completed. She definitely wasn’t busy.
"But that didn't mean I didn't feel any emotions on the inside."

psiker:
It wasn’t often that Edward decided to go to social events, but he was finished with work for the day and had the time to space. After all, who knows what rewards awaited him. If he planned this out carefully and won, he could have prizes that would benefit him – or at least chocolate to compensate. The only downsides were that he had to be tied to someone and do various challenges by their side. How annoying.
Regardless, he stilled proceeded to sign up, knowing full well what he was getting himself into. Taking a deep breath as the official tied his wrist to a stranger’s, Edward turned his attention towards them. He was soon to study her without a single word. She looked nervous, perhaps now regretting the situation she put herself into. Tch. He doesn’t like this as much as she does, but he was going to keep up his pride and press forward.
“Edward. I say the west side mall because it seems like a simple fetch quest, but if you’re competent in certain fields, say them now. It’s best to do what we excel at first so we don’t have to waste time stumped on one part of the mission. I’ll state mine now: I’m good at anything relating to science, math, mechanics, logical thinking and building things from small parts.”
Great. His dominate hand was the one tied down, this would be a minor setback but he would have to work with her the best he could. So far his opinion on Jung-a was neutral, despite the upfront aggression.
She felt frozen, not knowing what to say. Her partner, Edward, was a bit demanding, to put it mildly. And she was stuck with him for the entirety of the race.
Secretly, Jung-a had hoped for her partner to be a bit like Jungsang, or like one of her old friends back in Korea. She had thought that most people signing up for a race like this would be friendlier, ready to socialize with others and wanting to work together. Of course, fate had decided that Jung-a, usually being the shy one and needing for friends to make plans with her instead of vice versa, just had to be stuck with Edward. Hopefully she was being too judgmental, and that he was really just a nice guy. Hopefully.
“Oh, um...” She felt like she was being interviewed for a job at a big corporation. Stay calm, Jung-a. Even if he isn’t the most pleasant person, you have to ride this out. Her mind raced, thinking about what she was good at. Social interaction? Nope. Anything that requires working in groups, or having to speak in front of people? Definitely not. “I guess I could say I’m good with computers, and memorizing. You see, I’m an editing designer, so hopefully some of my skills will be of help.”
Technically, his thought process was right, since it would be best to get the easy ones out of the way, but the way he asserted leadership set her on edge. This was going to be a long day. It was probably best if she just did what he said without question, to avoid any conflict. “Let’s get going to the mall then, hm?”

“Do you have 11 protons? ‘Cause you’re Sodium fine!” Neptune said, winking at the stranger in front of him. As an intellectual he thought the line was quite clever, enough to illicit a small chuckle out of himself. Yes, Neptune was laughing at his own pick up line. Could you really blame him, though? Flashing a charming smile, the electric blue haired male crossed his arms over his chest, waggling his eyebrows in a joking manner.
Most of the time, when he flirted senselessly, it was simply to have a good time. It wasn’t as if he expected anything out of the encounter, but he did hope that the other person wouldn’t get angry with him. Offering a hand for a handshake, Neptune proceeded to introduce himself.
“The name’s Neptune. Neptune Vasilias.”
Her grey eyes glanced quickly behind her, hoping that the boy was talking to somebody else. When nobody was there, she glanced back at him, wondering why a boy like him, or really any boy, would even attempt to use a pickup line on her. After all, she wasn’t anything special. Her hair was in its usual messy half-bun, strands falling out of the elastic here and there, and the bags under her eyes were clearly visible because she was too tired to apply any makeup. Not to mention that Jung-a was wearing a very unflattering sweatshirt, along with a pair of old jeans.
As absurd and embarrassing the situation was, it was also a bit comical to her. This was probably just a prank, or something the boy was doing for a bit of fun. Still, when he introduced himself and offered his hand, Jung-a stared at it for a moment, hesitating. Neptune didn’t actually think that about her, right? She was a complete stranger to him, and there was no way he could find her pretty.
Maybe it would be fun to humour him for a bit. She took his hand, and gave it a light shake. “I’m Jung-a Lee. Don’t you think you’re a bit too young for me?” she chuckled. Of course, the woman had known a certain barista that only dated older women.
Tied at the wrists {Valrace} | Edward & Jung-a
@psiker
It was Valentine’s Day. And, deciding to do the unexpected, Jung-a had decided to sign up for a race, fully well knowing it would involve having to be with a complete stranger for the duration of the event. She had thought it was going to be fun, especially now that the woman didn’t have anybody to spend the holiday with. But, like the outcome of most of her social interactions, Jung-a felt awkward and uncomfortable.
An official of the race had bound her wrist to the stranger’s with a red string, an obvious reference to the red string of fate. At first she had tried to think nothing of it. After all, it was Valentine’s Day so they tried to at least add some romantic theme to it. The more the idea sat in her head though, the more embarrassing it became. Soon enough, Jung-a’s only thought was to go home. Too late now.
The official finished with the wrist-tying, read the rules, and then gave them the tasks they had to complete. Like that, the race had officially started. Better get to know her partner now then never, right?
“Uh, my name’s Jung-a Lee. I guess we’ll be racing together.” While her small smile on the outside may have seemed cool, on the inside she was panicking. Why had she even bothered signing up for this? She was a terrible racer, and there was no way her partner wasn’t going to hate her by the end.
Her right hand was free (the left one being the tied one), and it held onto the list of challenges. “Where do you think we should go first?” she asked him.
Maybe this year isn’t going to be so bad
Last year’s Valentine’s Day was one she was going to remember forever. Jung-a and Summer had helped Mira make chocolates for Peace. The two of them had just started officially dating. It was actually on Christmas when Mira had plucked up the courage to straight up tell him (as if her terrible flirting hadn’t been obvious enough), and Jung-a had been so proud of her. Then again, Mira was the braver and more wild one out of the couple. And that Christmas was also the last one Jung-a had spent with Jungsang.

Having recently moved into the area Nero wasn’t exactly one to be around people and have a lot of friends normally spending her, at first before she got a job, large amounts of time just singing the day away and looking around for that specific someone. Though while walking through the city most days she would notice the way she acted was a bit out of place among the common people of the city so to investigate how they behaved Nero decided to investigate her neighbors, and always looked to the left of her home when leaving on her searches, she decided the house to the left was the first she was going to visit. Though she felt sorry for the poor person she was going to dump her strange behavior on first, but she had to start somewhere and at some point deal with them eventually.
So Nero started her walk over to the house about noon taking deep breathes as she walked practicing her introductions. “Hello my name is Nero…No maybe a full name is more valuable to them…” Nero cleared her throat trying again. “Hello my name is Nero Claudius…No they might think i’m trying to pull off a poorly made female version of THE Nero Claudius…” Nero looked to the ground thinking and finally decided to go by a nickname. “Hello my name is Saber.”
Nero smiled deciding from that point to be known as Saber in this new town while she searched for her spouse and investigated the world. Though she misjudged the time it would take to get to the front steps and almost tripped over them catching herself on the door. Standing up she gave a soft sigh of relief and looked at the door repeating her introduction in her head and under her breath as she knocked on the door and waited. Saber’s face a stern confident look, but the soft blush peered through showing she was obviously nervous.
Knock, knock.
“I’ll be there in a second!” was Jung-a’s immediate reply. As usual, she was working on her laptop. Grey eyes were fixated onto the screen, and she refused to look up for even a moment. Once she was absorbed in her work, there was no stopping her until she found the perfect place to take a break.
Come on, just a few more lines, she thought to herself. While what she was doing wasn’t exactly work, is was still extremely important and needed to be finished as soon as possible. The deadline loomed above her, and she didn’t want to let anybody down by not having it complete on time.
What Jung-a was working on was a new theme for Summer’s blog, and it was taking her practically forever to try to remember how to code in HTML. She had finished college so long ago, and it was in one of her second year courses where she had learned to code. At the moment, Jung-a would give anything to go back into her 20 year old self and remember exactly how it all worked. Summer had asked her specifically to help, and not wanting to let a friend down, she had agreed.
There! That was the perfect spot to stop! From that point, it would be easy to continue on from where she had left off, without having to remember much of the coding she had done earlier.
Jung-a got up from her chair, and stretched her back. Who could possibly be at the door? She hadn’t invited anybody over, and she didn’t know anybody well enough for them to give her surprise visits. The woman opened the door, barely stifling a yawn. There, stood a girl that looked to be younger than her, with blonde hair and green eyes.
“Is there anything I can help you with?”
Call of Nature
friendlyneighbourhoodscientist:
It seemed the hidden stranger was shy, or at least that was how it appeared judging from her reluctance to reveal herself. The thought momentarily crossed his mind, that like him, she had perhaps undergone a change of some sort and was now uncomfortable appearing in front of other people, although this was mere speculation on his part. There was no way to ascertain this hypothesis for sure unless she decided to come out from the trees she was hiding behind.
An unlikely possibility at this point…
Before Komui could voice his question aloud the maiden spoke once more, this time to speak of a giant which suddenly emerged from the ground out of nowhere. The male elf stiffened slightly as he regarded the disgusting looking creature warily and his eyebrows furrowed in thought as he silently studied the large image.
“Is this why you refuse to come out? Are you afraid of being devoured yourself?”
He supposed that he too would be reluctant to step out of his hiding place had their positions been reversed but thankfully that was not the case. Despite the fact that he was now an elf, he was still more than prepared to take care of a problem like this with the resources available to him, both those within the forest area and those within his lab coat pockets. There may have been a lingering concern in his mind that he might cause damage to the surrounding area but at the end of the day, before he was an elf, he was a scientist first and foremost.
Reaching into his pockets, he scrounged around for the first necessary part he would need to accomplish his plan and then waved it in the direction of the voice with a grin.
“Have no fear, I’ll blow that monster up for you in no time~”
What was he doing? The man now looked completely insane, searching his pockets for something that would defeat a giant. And weirdest of all, he wasn’t even scared. How could he not be scared?! Was the illusion so obviously unreal that he didn’t even think it could put a scratch on him? This prank wasn’t fun anymore. Jung-a blamed it on on this dude and his idiocy.
“Of course I’m not scared of the giant eating me! He’s under my control!” Whoops, she probably shouldn’t have said that. Curse her and her animal instincts! As a human, Jung-a was always so careful with her words, but as a kitsune, the thoughts seemed to go straight from her mind and out of her mouth, without a second thought to approve of them.
Wait, did he say blow up? So was he looking for bombs? What sane person - or sane creature - would just casually carry bombs around? Animal instincts kicked in, and she knew she had to do something to stop him. It was all supposed to be a prank, but now she was in danger of being blown up into a bunch of tiny pieces.
Jung-a pounced. She ran straight through the illusion, effectively dissipating the giant into nothingness. “Don’t touch anything!” And she leaped into the air, mouth wide open, ready to bite the stranger.
fumikomu:
He didn’t like the feeling of intruding on another person’s personal time, but she looked like the most relaxed person around, and perhaps the least busy person as well, even with her headphones in. Her response to his question, like a gentle gesture of kindness, served as a reassurance that he wasn’t being a bother, so he continued on with his own (nervous) smile.
If his memory served him right, he was vaguely familiar with where Soleil Heights was in relation to the district he had chosen to move in to, but that didn’t mean that he could navigate around by himself. Doubt and disappointment in himself began to set in. ‘Really, who forgets something as important as a map?’
He was lucky he had taken this day as a rest from his vigorous training; he had a lot of work to do if he was going to go through with his plans of continuing to compete; he was getting older and less able to execute jumps that he didn’t already know how to do. The human body was fickle in that way, and if any person knew that, it was an ice skater.
“Do you think you could tell me a bit about this place? I recently moved here and I’m realizing that I don’t know as much about it as I should — “ Ah, he’d stop that before he couldn’t hold himself back from rambling on. She probably understood his sentiment. She was probably a nice person. He really needed to trust people a little bit more.
A new comer to Bellevue, already lost. How cute. Of course, Jung-a was still relatively new, but she had never lost her way around Bellevue, not even once. There were moments on the subway where she had panicked because she thought she had missed her stop or had gone onto the wrong platform, but never had that actually happened. Really, she didn’t go out that often, having so much work to do.
♪Someday you will find me Caught beneath the landslide♪
Thinking about work just made her feel more stressed. Even though she usually never procrastinated things to do, it was all just too much. “Oh, of course. I’d be glad to help.”
Jung-a took out the other earphone, and turned off the music coming from the phone. The song was coming to an end anyways. She then proceeded to wrap the earphones around the phone, and then stuffed it into the back pocket of her jeans.
“So, what can I help you with?” she inquired. Pointing towards one direction, she said, “That way is the centre of Soleil Heights. It’s also the centre of Bellevue, and you can find City Hall there along with a bunch of talent agencies. And that way,” she now pointed the opposite way, “are all the residential areas, along with the college. Which way do you want to go first?”
