Nice to see that Dean’s perfectly fine with Metatron, the person who beat him up, stabbed him and killed him, being right next to him.

Though to be fair, basically everyone around Dean has beat him up/strangled/(nearly) killed him at some point (sometimes more than once), so he’s probably used to handling it now.

i loooove this. i love the way he acknowledges this. i love it so much!!!! AHgJKsg i love how aware jensen is of this and i love that he seems to be becoming more aware and more angry about it as the years go by (dean/jensen feelings ahhhh). 

i love it because it takes on the “if [a child] went along with it then it was obviously fine” argument that i hear so often from people both referring to the show and to abused children in real life. i love that he explains it so clearly, that although at a younger age dean thought it was pretty freakin cool to do the kinds of only-in-movies things that he was forced to do, it does not erase the very simple fact that john should never have involved his children in his quest for vengeance. it does not ignore the truth that dean was taken advantage of at a young age. it does not diminish the abusive reality of dean’s childhood.

Dean has torn down some walls, but the walls are part of what helps him survive. They're a defense mechanism; he uses it to give him strength and courage. Some of it is good some isn't, but is what makes Dean Dean.

It’s also interesting that when Sam suggests the “lock me up so I can’t hurt anyone” plan, nobody goes “OMG look! He’s giving up! He stopped fighting!”

(sarcastic voice) Cause, y’know, when Sam does something self-destructive for the greater good, the narrative paints him as a selfless, humble hero, but if Dean does it, it’s considered as a selfish, codependent act of senseless suicide, of course. How else could it be. 

It’s so strange that this narrative bias favouring Sam still goes unnoted by most fans…
