Notes from Hanya
Not knowing is never the sin; the sin is assuming that what you don't know isn't worth knowing.
@tmagazine's new Culture Issue speaks in part to how being incurious has become acceptable, a source of great sorrow and frustration for many of us. Not knowing is always unsettling. No one wants to have to say, "I don't know," or "What is that?" But the alternative is worse because it makes your world smaller. You don't learn just because you don't want to be embarrassed; you learn because doing so is invigorating.
Once again, I'll get to experience that familiar, wondrous fear; that familiar, wondrous joy....How lucky I am to be scared anew.
