Stating the obvious but reblogging something doesn't mean that I uncritically and entirely agree (particularly given the queue thing sometimes my opinions change before it spits out a post). ppl are really not ready to be uncomfortable. when i first wanted to get into radical feminism, i was so hellbent on still shaving because “ well body hair looks weird on everyone! men should shave too!” then when i saw women saying bitch and cunt were misogynistic slurs, i was so opposed to that because bitch was a part of my daily vocabulary. but at some point, you have to stop being up your own ass and listen to others because sometimes you realize… you are just dead wrong 😭 and you actually do need to work on yourself. the more i started reading, the more i started seeing and the more i had to evaluate what the fuck I was saying and doing. when i get mad at a woman, why do i call her a bitch? why do i shave even though i don’t really like it? you have to get comfortable with discomfort 🤷‍♀️

New local scandal is an old woman who will walk down to her mailbox in her robe, then, when no cars are driving by, lay down next to her mailbox as if she’s fallen or been hit by a car. Tourists will stop, help her up, and walk her to her house. Then, after they leave, she’ll repeat this until she’s bored with it.

Her neighbors have called the cops a bunch but have been told that it’s not illegal to fake being an old lady in peril so soft-hearted tourists or newcomers are nice to you. One of the neighbors sometimes yells “oh, get up, Lois!” at her. But overall local sentiment is that this is at least somewhat enviable levels of not giving a fuck.

my number one advice for parents is to listen to your children tbh. and i dont just mean listening to their problems i mean like. when your kid recites the plot of a movie youve already seen or your tells you about what they did at school today or wants to show you their roblox gameplay. youve gotta be invested in knowing your kid as a person or why are you even doing the whole parenting thing.

Happy migraine and headache awareness month. This may seem like a minor terminology nitpick, but it’s a serious misconception about migraine: nausea is an actual migraine symptom, not a thing that happens because of the headache. When people with migraine experience nausea during attacks, it’s not because the pain is so bad (the idea that migraine is always excruciatingly painful is also a myth), it’s because migraine causes a lot of symptoms that aren’t pain, including nausea.

This goes for other symptoms as well: although pain can definitely contribute to people’s experiences of these symptoms, fatigue and brain fog are actual migraine symptoms, not just pain symptoms.

This is also your friendly PSA that nausea is not a normal tension headache symptom, if you frequently get nauseous with your headaches, you almost certainly have migraine.

it really pisses me off when adults sit there and drill it into kids’ heads that their youth is fleeting and tell them things like “enjoy your childhood while it lasts because this is the best it’s gonna get”. why are you telling children that adulthood is the worst thing they can experience? seriously what the fuck is wrong with you, why are you trying to make them feel like growing up is a fate worse than death? trying to convince them their life is over before it even begins? i’m tired of that shit. because tell my why my 12 year old cousin told me when she turns 30 she’ll be so depressed she’s just gonna cry all the time. what the fuck. kids don’t need to hear that their already stressful and overwhelming lives are never going to get better, that the abuse and lack of autonomy they face is apparently the highlight of their lives. they need to hear about adults who are happy to be alive and happy to have made it to their age. they need to know that growing up rules, it’s a gift and life does not have to suck for them, that they have a future that’s worth sticking around for. this rhetoric is so damaging mentally and i’m about to start hitting the adults who parrot it. i’m sorry you hate your life but you don’t get to dump your issues on these kids. don’t piss me off and leave these babies alone!
