It was a quiet day, the very best ones a person could have, in Knuckles’ opinion. Being up this high, it was always sunny whether you liked it or not. Though that day even had a rather nice breeze blowing through the air, which was not only sending fresh air throughout the island, but it was keeping the entire place a perfect temperature. Feeling the wind blow, knocking the echidna’s hair about, it managed to get the red animal to smile, even if it was a slight one. That smile seemed to dip at the sound of someone’s voice arriving.
Closed eyes turned to opened, looking around for a moment before fixating on the white hedgehog Knuckles knew by a bit. They hadn’t had the most stellar or even long interaction, but there had been something between them already. Basically, anyone Sonic knew, that blue hedgehog had shoved down Knuckles’ throat in attempts to, and as he put it, ‘Make the sourpuss some friends.’
Nevertheless, Knuckles walked down the altar’s stairs, giving one last look to the Master Emerald before putting all of his attention to the guest.
“Mmm, how’s it going? You’re another buddy of Sonic’s, yeah? Name’s Knuckles. Yours starts with an ‘S’ if I’ve got it right…” He said rather rushed, zipping through introductions. Patience wasn’t his strong suit. Though he did give a slight wave back. “So are you up here for a reason? You’d be surprised at how many people the guys down below have been sending up here to try and get me to socialize.” He questioned, turned eyes raising up to the hedgehog. It wasn’t that he wanted the guy gone or anything. He would much rather have someone he’s familiar with walking around instead of a complete stranger, but that silence was really nice…
Silver breathed a sigh of relief. Sure, the echidna wasn’t exactly thrilled to see him, but it was much better than the hostility he was starting to get accustomed to.
“Sonic’s buddy”, though? The description flattered him, but he wasn’t sure if Sonic would agree. “You could say that,” He replied, giving a half smile. “But I’m not here to socialize. I’m here because of...” Silver gestured to the giant green emerald behind the two of them, floating serenely in its altar. “...That.”
Silver actually had very little knowledge of the Master Emerald, but he knew that it was powerful— Sonic had told him that much. He was sort of going out on a limb here, but he didn’t have many leads in the first place. Ever since the whole “destroy Solaris” plan had backfired, he was back to square one.
“My name’s Silver,” he continued, hoping he wasn’t testing the echidna’s patience with this. “I’m not sure if you remember much of me, er... my luck with that has been mixed.” Some people seemed to remember Silver perfectly fine, while others acted like they had never met before. It was disorienting, to say the least. He had been wondering if it some sort of lingering effect from their battle with Solaris.
Though maybe it’d be best if he doesn’t remember me... Silver frowned slightly. He wasn’t exactly proud of the mistakes he’d made during his last venture to the past.
