“Maybe.” Adele smiled. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.” He murmured affectionately, leaning over to kiss her temple before opening the door for her.

“No idea,” Adele laughed. “As long as I’m with you, I’m happy.”

“Mm, so wandering aimlessly it is.” He chuckled, nodding as he tugged on her hand, going off to their right.

Adele smiled fondly at her husband and daughter. “She’s getting so big. She’s starting to look just like her namesake.” Adele couldn’t help but feel a little sad at the thought. She missed her mother, especially now that she was one. 

“She’s beautiful.” He said softly, agreeing. He knew it meant a lot to Adele, that they were able to honor his mother-in-law this way. Wrapping his free arm around her shoulders, he pulled her close, kissing the top of her head.

Zeke’s fingers hovered over the petals, not wanting to touch them. “Do you have anything brighter? Lots of.... yellows and pinks. I want to get Adele something new.”

“They’re trying to get us fat.” Zeke chuckled, shaking his head as he took another helping of chicken. “I don’t trust anyone who serves food this good.”

“This place is impressive.” Zeke commented, smiling at his former student as he glanced around the shop. “I’m proud.”

“God no.” He sighed, laughing once as he shook his head. “I’m not ready for that yet, so I actually just carry her - everywhere. Trying to stunt her growth.”

Adele took his arm and then apparated them both to outside the old tea shop. “It hasn’t changed a bit, has it?”

“I don’t know, it looks so different, doesn’t it? But the same. It’s weird.” He smiled, holding her closer against him. “Maybe it’s just us that changed.”

“Oh, dear.” Adele sighed. “Let’s just forget that for now and try and enjoy the moment.”

“Sounds perfect to me.” He grinned, squeezing her hand. “So, where to first?”

“Right, because I’m such a mean, horrible, terrible person,” Victor said dramatically. “I always forget how terrible I am until you bring it up.”

“Do you really?” He asked, pretending to be genuinely curious. “Keeps me up at night, to tell you the truth. No, but really - I’m not a student, I don’t have any reason to think you’re mean.”

Adele smiled at the two of them. “Well, aren’t you two adorable.” She reached over and kissed Rachel’s forehead before kissing Zeke. “And how are my two favorite people?”

“We are, aren’t we?” He asked his daughter, his smile growing as he neared Adele, returning her kiss gently. They had usually gone out for New Year’s in the past, but he was more excited to stay in this year. “We’re a little tired. Midnight seems to be much later than it used to be.”

“You’re cute, but not that cute. I’m sorry about that, Ezekiel.” Victor teased. “Right, right. She’s too young for fun.”

“Yes, I am. And no, you’re not.” He chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully. “I didn’t say she wasn’t old enough for fun - but I do think the music and the crowds would make her cry, and then Adele would want to leave.”

Zeke cooed nonsense at Rachel as he finished putting her socks on, straightening her little golden bow before picking her up with a bright smile. “Ready to find Mommy?” He murmured, kissing her head as he settled her on his hip, meandering through the house to find Adele to show her the outfit he’d gotten for New Year’s. Rachel made a noise as she came into view, and Zeke laughed. “We found her!”

“Mmm, after you, my darling.” Zeke offered her his arm.
