One of the more useful and versatile words to know in Spanish is la pista.
It has dual meanings in that la pista can be “a track”, but it’s also “clue”. My assumption is it’s related to “things you follow”.
For that reason la autopista “highway” is literally “car track”, and pista y campo is “track and field”. And la pista is sometimes used to discuss a specific area where something is done like la pista (de baile) is “the dance floor”, and you might see la pista de (patinaje sobre) hielo “ice rink / skating rink”.
Additionally when it comes to detective stuff, la pista is used as “clue” or someone’s “trail”, something you follow. This is probably because the etymology has to do with las huellas “footprints/fingerprints” or “trail” left by animals that people would follow.
In that way, la pista is related to “track” in pretty much every way… “track” in a sports way, or “tracking an animal”… and la pista can also be “a track” for music.

When men talk to woman who work in customer service mistake our friendly professionalism for flirting and end up making us feel super uncomfortable. I don’t even work face to face customer service and it still disturbs me so much. There’s like no way out of it. Don’t be that guy.
I feel this
If your target language is spanish, listen up!!!
The site: spanishchecker.com/en/ is your BEST FRIEND you can paste your spannish essays and such in, and not only does it correct your mistakes, it also tells you WHY it was a mistake. It saved me so many times!!
Watch: President Obama calls out Republicans for their refugee hypocrisy — and then drops the mic by tying it to the debates.
man LISTEN
Most presidents enter a “lame duck” phase in their last year. Obama has instead entered a “I don’t give a fuck” phase, and I like it.
as frustrating as it is when the word you’re looking up isn’t in the dictionary, it’s also weirdly gratifying, like. damn. if the dictionary doesn’t know this word then maybe i don’t need to either
sure money and sex and drugs may be good but have you ever spoken to a native in your target language and made no mistakes

PEOPLE YOU NEED TO REGISTER TO VOTE, YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO HOLD OUR LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE AND CHANGE THIS COUNTRY, HERE IS HOW TO DO IT, IN EVERY SINGLE STATE
The first primaries are coming up fast and if Bernie Sanders is going to turn his lead in the polls in early states into a primary victory young people NEED to vote. In just a few months all this activism comes to a head and Bernie Sanders has a very real chance at winning.
Bernie Sanders is already winning in two of these early states and by much wider margins than previous Democratic challenger candidates. This can become a real victory, it really can.
Unfortunately though there is a huge obstacle to overcome, a lot of Bernie Sanders supporters are young voters who consistently fail to show up to the polls come election day.
If young people turn out to vote though at rates far above 13%, even as low as 50%, that would be MASSIVE. That would fundamentally change how our government responds to the needs of young people. It is a tall order, but it isn’t that hard. Registering to vote isn’t that difficult and there is no reason that anyone should not be registered by the deadline. It needs to be done soon, but there is still plenty of time.
Okay actually, for some people there isn’t much time left. NEW YORKERS REGISTER TO VOTE NOW! Everyone else, there is some breathing room, but get on it. Below is a link to all the paper work you need, from there it is up to you. Share with your friends and family, help them register, help them get to the polls, and lets get Bernie Sanders elected president. It doesn’t stop there though, you need to know how to vote and how each primary election type is different.
BLUE STATES: Anyone of any party affiliation can vote for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic Primary. RED STATES: Red states are closed primaries, meaning you MUST BE A REGISTERED DEMOCRAT. You need to be a Democrat if you want to vote for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary. PURPLE STATES: Are Caucuses and the party affiliation required differs by state. GREEN STATES: Most Green states are mixed primaries, meaning INDEPENDENTS or NON-AFFILIATED voters and DEMOCRATS can vote for Bernie Sanders. You can not vote for Bernie Sanders as a registered REPUBLICAN, in one of the red states. ONE MORE THING IN THE STATE HIGHLIGHTED BELOW YOU CAN VOTE FOR BERNIE SANDERS IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION IF YOU ARE 17 AND WILL BE 18.
EVERYONE REGISTER TO VOTE. WE CAN WIN THIS THING. WE WILL WIN THIS THING. BERNIE SANDERS 2016!
I’m gonna reblog this at least once every week until the primaries are over.
Tumblr, for once you need to actually get off your asses & DO SOMETHING if you care about social justice as much as you claim to. If you believe in Bernie Sanders’ ideas & want him as President, you MUST vote in your state’s Democratic primary. This post has all the info you need about how to do that.
Here is a list of primary dates so you can find out when your state’s primary is.
tl;dr We all need to pay attention to the information above NOW, even if it’s long. You may think it’s still a year away, but it’s election season now, folks.
Literally: to be a zero on the left Idiomatically: to be useless, to be without purpose
This idiom is related to math and counting, I believe.
Like when you write “10″ for ten you wouldn’t go “010″… it would just be 10. The 0 to the left is useless and unnecessary.
