Got myself a new electric Typewriter 🤩🤩
Some weeks ago I‘ve announced to post some reviews of my working cameras. So view this as the first of these:
This is my „Fujuca Zoom 8 Deluxe“
It‘s a fully electric double-eight film camera. So it films two lanes (into both directions) of 8mm frames onto a 16mm film. This used to be the standard way of amateur filming from it‘s invention by Eastman Kodak in the early 1930‘s until the introduction of Super8 cartridges in 1965.
This exemplary was exported out of japan in 1964, so it‘s a pretty late model with a lot of features, like zoom, fades, „electric eye“ automatic exposure (which doesn‘t work any more because there are no more 2,4V mercury batteries around anymore 😬).
I got it in it‘s original leather bag (which is soooo stylish 🤩🤩), it‘s original users manual and the export confirmation from 1964. And it basically still works which is just so cool.

Look at this Video I’ve shot with my ✨Fujica✨ 8mm Camera (that is absolutely inable to do any lighting*) in 2024.
….but it could literally be out of ✨1964✨ (if there was‘nt the guy on his phone at the end)
*Because the fancy Electric-Eye is broken 😭
I'm really sorry to bother you but I was wondering,
I bought an 8mm silent camera from a thrift store. I popped open the battery area for it and it's completely corroded. Is the camera essentially ruined?
First of all, thank you for this question ✨🌺
(I love questions like this☺️)
To answer it short: It could be essentially ruined, but it doesn’t have to be. ⚡️
Why I say this: When I first got mine it was just the same situation. Both of the battery compartments (one in the body, the other one in the attachable handle) still held all the seven AA batteries for probably decades. But I tried to clean out the spilled over battery chemistry with lemon acid and some Q-Tips, then I also cleaned the rusted contacts with some sand-paper.
Finally, it worked again, but let’s still say, it’s at least partially ruined, because I can’t use the electric eye, I think it can’t do any lighting at all, it can’t zoom no more and i’m pretty sure there’s still a lot of that battery chunk inside it, bc it still looses those green little crumbles out of any crack and crevice it has.
But still ✨it basically works✨🤗
PS: If you shall try to clean any acid or chemistry out of it, please keep in mind that all of this is highly poisonous, so be aware of yourself and use some latex-gloves and a FFP2 mask or anything comparable (especially if there is also a compartment for any mercury-battery, you never know what sleeps inside of those…) 😷🙏🏻

✨Also for this year I hope y‘all had some very happy Christmas holidays ☺️🎄

So, what would you guys prefer to be my next little ✨vintage project✨?
Shall it be a VHS Camcorder 📼 📹(like a older one that runns with actual VHS cassettes from the 80s or so), or shall it be a Super 8 Camera 🎞️🎥(but a more professional one with some functions like synchronization with a tape recorder or more) ?????
VHS 📼📼📼
Super 8 🎞️🎞️🎞️
….so the discussion is basically if you prefer film over tape or the other way around 😂
✨you can also share your opinion in the comments or by a reblog✨
Well…seems like you‘ve clearly decided😁
