Your MEANINGLESS WANDERING has brought you into more random places in the city. Why did you even take a left down that street in the first place. That was not a good decision. You don’t even know the layout of this place. Unfortunately, you also cannot BLOW UP THE CITY because your C4 has been abjured. But, you have come across yet another person! Somehow, they remind you of SS.
“Hey, your name ain’t Slick, is it?”
"No, it's not," Rufus growled harshly, controlling his lividness at such a horrible question. Appearing calm, Rufus looked over the weird-o that had adressed him, too flustered to make any sort of intense observations. He did not appear to be the type to notice Rufus' busting subtle flaws, to which he was put at slight ease. Rufus wondered how easily influenced this person would be and briefly wondered who Slick was before addressing the true conflict at hand.
With an arrogant flip of his hair, Rufus monotonously stated with a murderous edge to his voice, "I am Rufus Shinra, the president."

“Yes. Hanna. That’s my name.”
This man really didn’t look friendly. Or happy, either. Then again, not that many people DID, when they’d first arrived, which made sense. Being stuck in a totally new city (or a totally new WORLD for some of them) was never really a fun thing.
“I-If you’re new, you can tell me, dude. I’m not gonna judge you or anything, really… I just wanted to see if you needed anything, you know?”
Not wanting to be redundant, Rufus avoided voicing his concerns at Hanna's peculiar name and almost let it slip his mind altogether.
Arching his brow, Rufus haughtily scoffed, "From you? I would not dream of it. But if you are truly so unobservant to deduce things for yourself, than I will put it simply for you: yes, I am new here."
Rufus knew that he was being irrationally harsh, especially when there was something about the other that struck Rufus as useful. However, he was ready to move on from anyone who was not easily intimidated, as strength and survival were the two main aspects he needed to rule this place. He turned his back to Hanna, staring into the city with curled lips, realizing that he truly knew nothing of the mysterious city.

Rufus had hoped that upon his arrival into the depths of the city -- thus starting his term of this so-called "social experiment" -- he would not run into any of the putrid rats partaking in the cruel study.
His fortunes were clearly against him, but Rufus thought fast and supposed that he could use every second of his time here to his advantage, even if things were not going as planned. After all, improvisation and deception were both in his job description. If he was going to work his way up to being important in this place, he was going to have to start acting his part. Rufus did just that and stared calculatingly at the freak show before him with icy eyes, not bothering to introduce himself with stupid, menial words.

“Hey there! My name’s Hanna! Are you guys all new to Hive City?”
"Hanna," Rufus deadpanned bitterly, sharply looking over the man who had dared to address him. What a strange name. He glared groggily at the enthusiastic-looking boy -- who appeared to be quite a bit younger than himself and was certainly bounds more friendly. He pursed his lips at the nagging word 'new', as it sounded inferior.
Rufus had to make a name for himself in this godforsaken place and had to start somewhere. Crossing his arms, he snidely responded with a brief, "Maybe I am, but that hardly matters."

Character name: Rufus Shinra
Series: Final Fantasy VII
Brief biography: Rufus was the vice-president of the Shinra Electric Power Company. When his father died, he took up the role as president, claiming that he would do things differently. Instead of wasting money on bribes like his father had, Rufus declared that he was going to reign over the people through fear. He did just that, but his plans were hindered by the corruption in his own governed company and a rebel group called AVALANCHE.
Rufus is cold-hearted, arrogant, snobbish, and thinks that he is better than everyone else. He does not think twice about his actions towards other people and has shown himself to be power-hungry in the name of his company and extremely manipulative. Although he is stern, Rufus is also very patient and excessively stubborn to the point where he comes off as brave. He is not easily enraged or shaken. However much he denies it, Rufus genuinely cares for his company and makes sure that everything runs smoothly no matter what, wanting more than anything to control the world through its power. However, this does not make up for his flaw of being cold to the point of heartlessness.

Weapon of choice: Shotgun
Quick RP sample: Rufus crossed his arms and tapped his well-polished shoe against the ground in impatient irritation, wondering how he ended up in such a vile, barbaric place. A place that he did not hold in the palm of his hands. Working up to such a rank of respect and control was something that Rufus had never experienced, but he was absolutely certain that the people running this place were feeble and easily manipulated -- as everyone was. Something had to influence them, whether it be money, fear, or the desperate need for leadership. Either way, Rufus was dead set on becoming said leader of this foreign, foul-smelling city and using everything he could to his benefit to climb up the ranks.
With an annoyed flip of his hair and a condescending sigh, Rufus held his head high and marched through the town like the streets were the halls of his office building. So far, he was not impressed, but the town was not what was important to seize control of, but the worthless rats living within.

"Do you have a death wish? Pathetic."
sharpteeth-sharpertongue:
“Sure sure,” he rolls his eyes.
“Wanna go do something? It’s boring around here.”
The statement gave Rufus a great idea. A faint smirk appeared on his face. "Sure," he agreed arrogantly, much to his own surprise.
sharpteeth-sharpertongue:
“Sounds like someone really likes their personal space,” he laughs.
“Man, you seriously gotta calm your jets before you mess yourself up bad.”
"I merely wish to not be tainted with filth," Rufus snapped dryly, flipping his hair. "That is the only way I could possibly 'mess myself up', as you put it."
sharpteeth-sharpertongue:
His smirked widened, “All right all right.”
He swung an arm around the other’s shoulders, “Y’know. We’re gonna be best pals, man.”
Rufus crossed his arms, getting the feeling that Veser was not being sincere with his submission. Upon being touched, Rufus squirmed away, the corners of his mouth twitching in agitation. "I'm sure," he scoffed dirtily, brushing himself off. "As long as you don't touch me."
sharpteeth-sharpertongue:
“Hm?”
“And what will you do if I cross it, Mr. High-and-Mighty?” he teased him, something in the back of his mind told him that this was going to be fun.
"I won't do anything," he retorted sassily, giving him a death glare. Rufus already hated this guy; he could not imagine living in the same area as him. "I'm just giving you a fair warning."
He raised an eyebrow, “Someone’s crabby.”
“Listen buddy, I don’t listen to anyone. Not you, not your dog, not my mom, no one. So you better drop those rules of yours.”
“Veser,” he pauses, “Veser Hatch.”
Rufus gave him a sharp glare. Of course his new roommate was going to be difficult. "Listen," he snapped bitterly. "There's a red line drawn on the floor about halfway through the trailer. If you want to live, I suggest that you do not cross it. Simple as that, Veser."

Play up the man’s ego, Max, THAT’S the ticket. After all, you’ve done a helluva lot worse: making a rich man feel nice and powerful’s definitely not as humiliating as what you’ve out yourself through before… A simple nod of the head, just to reassure Rufus. “Absolutely! With all the rabble and rifraff on the streets nowadays, they need a guiding hand. Someone to show them where they’re going WRONG.”
Then a tight-lipped smile. “Of course I need the money! Plays don’t just happen. There’s a lot of things to coordinate, and finance. Basically… it’s a giant hassle.” Max grinned in delight… and then he heard the word CONDITIONS. That word could bring nothing but trouble. Still, whatever it was, he could deal. “Of course, of course!… But, please enlighten me. Exactly what are these conditions?”
The faintest of smiles appeared on Rufus' face. "Exactly. Such a task could be accomplished by anyone, really. Power is not a hard to maintain. All they need is a spark of emotion triggered by the touch of fear and they'll follow anyone like desperate sheep -- little reminders of who's in charge," he said, tone almost sinister. Rufus was glad that someone agreed with him. At least, Max appeared to share similar philosophies.
"I'm sure," Rufus said dully, tapping his fingers impatiently. His gaze froze sharply and unblinking on Max. He paused thoughtfully, not having the proper time to previously think things through. Frowning slightly, he began carefully, "My conditions? Nothing too much. I would simply require that all aspects of the production are accredited to ultimately myself -- and for that to be made known. That is all."

Max’s lips curled into a smirk. It was a wonderful talent of his: he wormed into your weakest spot, and found a way to make you trust him. Make you NEED him, or at least, make you want to believe in his big words and even bigger attitude. “Of course. But you can’t live so high above the uncivilized. You need to SHOW them their inferiority. Isn’t that the truth?”
And Max saw the little tell. Rufus’ eyes widening… it meant he was INTERESTED in what he had to say. Or, at least, in Max himself. The most likely thing was that this guy needed him, but for what, he didn’t know. Probably to act as a speaker: after all, Mr. President wasn’t gonna be named Ms. Congeniality. EVER. So… he needed a proxy. As long as he paid up, it was all good with Max.
“What do I need? Well… I’m running a play. And we’re gonna need a bit of a start up. You know how it gets in ANY business. Capital’s required, but you’re just not finding anyone with any REAL taste. Such a shame…”
"Yes, I could not have said it better," Rufus agreed, a mildly haughty tone underlying his strong voice. He smirked. He was starting to like this man's mentality; even if he was on the same level as the rest of the populous that he had come to hate. Rufus flexed his hand into a fist, continuing cryptically and sharply, "If there was no one were to rise to power above the rats, then they would continue with their inferior chaos forever."
Rufus could have laughed, wondering if Max was truly sincere or putting up quite the act in order to do whatever it was he was doing. Regardless, Rufus had grown somewhat fond of the man and even more-so his words. "So you need money?" he asked snidely. Rufus raised an eyebrow. He could care less about money, but was certainly interested in the power. "Sure, I'll sponsor your play... with a few conditions, of course."
