Great restaurant and bar around the corner from us on 31st Avenue. Run by the same people as Vesta on 30th Avenue, another great Astoria restaurant.

The nearest convenience store to us on 31st Avenue and 34th Street.

The Astoria Bookshop

This bookshop opened up recently on 31st Street between Broadway and 31st Avenue.

Our local bakery on 30th Avenue.

This has become my go to coffee spot on 30th before getting on the subway to work.

Our local laundromat on 34th Street.

Key Food

Key Food is our regular shopping spot for all the basics. We're lucky to have a wealth of independent butchers, grocers, fishmongers and the like in Astoria but I still have a soft spot for some of the salads on the Key Food deli counter. Duquan was happy to oblige me with a portrait along with my pasta Greek salad.

Steinway Street M/R Subway Station

I love the newspaper stands in New York's subway stations. Must be a pretty weird existence working in one...

Tacos Mexicanos

Or more affectionately, 'El Rey Del Taco'. If you live in Astoria you know this spot. These guys work every evening from about 7 until the early hours and they are busy the whole time: serves them right for serving the best Mexican food in the neighborhood.
