"I first noticed him in his camouflage jacket in the shot below; quietly blending in to the Bath stone. "Sorry," he said. "Am I in your way?" Uh... not exactly. We got chatting in the sunshine [a bit harsh for portraiture!] "My wife's in the shops. I don't do shops," he amusingly continued. 84 years young, he was, and pleasantly chatty, too. Revealed how he'd just come out of hospital: two years ago he slipped and fell in his garden, broke his collar bone. He kept going back complaining of ongoing pain, which the docs put down to his collar bone being stubborn to heal and probably a bit of arthritis creeping in on top. Until, that is, another recent X-ray. He had a broken neck, too! Consultant, who subsequently operated, told him he was potentially one false movement away from paralysis." Will Gortoa
