Grarrls were the first pets in all of Neopia so the current form we see today is their “ancient” form. The only way a Grarrl could be more ancient looking would be for it not to have any teeth as that was its original artwork.

TNT has covered this topic twice in the past. They have stated:

“Chombies, Grarrls, and Pteris are already native species to Tyrannia, which is why there’s currently no paint brush to make them “more” Tyrannian.”

Additionally TNT has approached the topic of location-specific pets and why most of them do not have redundant paint brush colors:

“yes, we realise the discrepancy in the fact that there is a Mystery Island Kougra when Kougras are from Mystery Island, but this is a slightly different issue in that some of the Tyrannians are already basically dinosaurs. Sort of like how there’s no Maraquan Koi because it’s already a fish and painting it Maraquan would be a bit redundant. We’re not saying you’ll never see a Tyrannian Pteri, but it’d probably be very, very low on the list of colours we’d like to see it in.”

So in essence JumpStart is scrapping the bottom of the barrel for paint brush colorations. And also I am not fun at parties.

Haha okay, you win! Grarrls do have a very wide selection of colors already, so I don’t think they had many colors to choose from. Maybe if it’s not ancient it could just genetic variation in the grarrl population? Some are smooth and some are cute and spiky ^u^

Why Rukis are the Best

Hiya neotag! It’s Ava here with one of my rants/opinions on why Rukis are the BEST pets to customize. First, let’s compare a few pets - the Aisha, Draik and Kacheek.

(Item used - Ombre Birthday Dress)

As we can see, it looks pretty good on the Aisha… except it’s too long of a dress for its stubby little legs, and it’s too low cut. Unfortunately, most dresses have this effect.

On the Draik, there’s a LOAD of problems. The straps look extremely awkward, the chest area is too large for the Draik’s body, and the skirt is just awkwardly positioned. This isn’t just a problem on the artist’s part; these are commonly overlooked things.

The Kacheek is probably the most normal looking - the bodice is a little bit too low for my liking, but it’s a matter of opinion. Now, we’ll look at what is probably the most UNDERRATED pet - the Ruki.

Now THAT’S more like it! The Ruki’s fairly small upper body, narrow waist and (ahem) large abdomen make the dress flare out dramatically, which makes it look about ten times better. The bow, which is fairly ugly imo, is covered up nicely as well. However, it’s not just dresses - skirts and anything of the sort all have the flare effect. BONUS: My -favorite- outfit I’ve made with a Ruki! I like to call it “The Angel”.

So, that’s it! Go give this little bug some more love!
