I didn't realize I was following you but we're mutuals apparently now! Anon for personal reasons, though.

Just wanted to vent about something that happened yesterday or the day before. I'm in critical spaces for certain media I've enjoyed when I was younger but have issues with nowadays with the story or creator themselves, and, those media are problematic so antis are unfortunately there for some reason.

There's some fighting going on about fictional content, and I was complaining to a friend about how antis act like fiction is the same level as reality, and my friend said, "yeah, but they're (those who engage in fictional stuff with underage characters) still predatory and I'd be wary of/avoiding them"

And while it's not something I engage in a lot... it kinda hurt? As someone who struggles with intrusive moral thoughts, it hurt a lot

And it sucks because I don't really have any proshipper friends or those who don't care. I vented to someone else, and they were still understanding, but it's still scary and rough because I'm scared I'll lose friends (one irl friend stopped associating with me after I drew something from a problematic media even though I didn't know shit about the media, only some design I liked...)

I get why that comment from your friend hurt. When you're already struggling with intrusive moral thoughts, hearing someone casually say something like that can really hit hard, even if it wasn’t directed at you personally. You're allowed to feel upset about it. It makes total sense.

It’s scary when it feels like people might distance themselves over things that aren’t even malicious. You’re not doing anything wrong. Fiction is complicated, and the way people talk about it online isn’t always fair or nuanced. You deserve to have people around you who understand that and who don’t make you feel like you’re a bad person for enjoying or exploring certain content.
