@sukafunosokubaku Summary: Connie resents Mikasa for coming home from the military instead of Sasha The group of friends split off into different branches of the military after high school. Connie went into the marines with a select few and Sasha and Mikasa went for the army scouts. He knew Sasha was able to protect herself so he was sure theyâd meet after deployment and get married. There was no doubt in his mind. Thatâs until he got the notice. Mikasa and Sasha were on a high-risk mission. One slip up and Sasha didnât make it. He hated it. He lost the love of his life and then when they all get back Mikasa canât even stand to be around him. He resented her for coming back instead of his honey eyed goofball. He couldnât stand it. Though part of it was more that he hated himself. He hated that he wasnât there. He wanted to be a marine so bad but if he had gone with her, he could have done something. He never even got to see those beautiful honey eyes again. All he had were pictures and the memory of the way she smiled so genuinely whenever he was looked at. The warmth of her hug was nothing more than a cold ghost looming over him now. The group hung out regularly when they werenât at work. Jean even was helping Connie to save towards Sashaâs dream house out in the woods. If she couldnât have her dream then heâd at least try to achieve them for her. It made him feel less empty like there was still a small bit of her there. As the group hung out at Arminâs place Connie sat there watching the tv. At this point whenever Mikasa was around he didnât even talk. The anger just waiting to blow. She hasnât even told him the details of what happened, or told him her last fucking words! As he was zoned out most of the group decides to make a run for BBQ supplies while Armin called a handful more of their friends. The room was suddenly quiet. All you could hear is the sitcom on tv as the lines filled the heavy air. There was still that dense uncomfortable feeling thoughâŠ
Mikasa nods in approval. She sits looking at the tv. Through all the fighting and crying, it was still on. How ironic to have a laugh track on in the background of what was happening. She starts to doze off in thought. How was she going to tell him everything? Should she say the specifics? Just say how it happened? How would this effect their further relationship? Would he hate her more? Stop talking to her forever? She was filled with emotions and dared. But on the outside was a blank face.
Connie could see mikasa getting lost in thought again. Thats when the others got back. Connie jumps up start helping them cook. they would talk more later on.
Mikasa continues to be in space. Hardly noticing the others walking in. Then she hears the commotion and gets snapped back into reality. She blinks a couple times before going back to her normal way. Now its just a waiting game to finish the night. She wasnât truly ready to relive that day again. It still seemed like it was only yesterday and yet, it wasnât. She looked down at the scarf in her hands. Seeing the stained blood that wouldnât wash out. This item was the only thing she had left of the two most important people in her life. One is still alive, just not with them at the moment, But with how things are he might as well be. He was still out there in the army. He wasnât relived yet and couldnât see Mikasa. But from what little he has kept in contact with everyone he should be done with the army in a month or two. She would just have to wait to see him again. Hopefully nothing happens to him.
As the night winds dwn and people start to leave connie walks over. âHey. Wanna hang out tomorrow. Just as friends we don't have to ask about important stuff yet. I can wait till your confident and ready. Just donât runâ He hums, patting her head.
