these are some theories and thoughts I noticed on my second watch of tsftl. SPOILERS AHEAD!!
I've seen a lot of discussion about whether or not Hummer was real. I think this ambiguity is intentional in the way where Hummer is meant to act as our real-life leviathan. We don't know if he is or isn't real, he could be a hallucination, he could be a regular player, he could be a physical manifestation of the leviathan talking to Wifies. Maybe it's more important that we trust that he's real.
In Hummer's original reddit post, he says to email him and that he "doesn't respond to dms." Now, call me Procrustes the way im gonna stretch this, but what if this phrase has a double meaning? He doesn't respond to DMs AND he doesn't respond to the DMS (Department of Metaphysical Science).
If you haven't heard of the Apple11 ARG, there was a fanmade DMS discord that Crafty (from that one Wifies ARG where the dude was mining bedrock) joined and dropped a bunch of LORE. As it turns out, Crafty along with another friend is in hiding?? on the run??? from the DMS (i think i dont have discord so i cant verify the exact words) and are trying to investigate into a creature (leviathan). They can't stay for long because "she" is listening.
Either "she" is another female character (woo hoo more representation!) OR it could be Arronax considering her incredibly respected reputation amongst the leviathan community and investment into finding levi.
THIS TIES INTO THEORY ONE. If Arronax is the same person Crafty is warning us of, this could explain WHY Hummer doesn't respond to the DMS. Hummer obviously has some apprehension against Arronax, especially since her methods and ideology is exactly what he's against. If she was apart of the DMS, then Hummer would especially be against their organization. Or the opposite. She's part of the DMS, that's why he's against Arronax.
Arronax's name is definitely a reference to Professor Aronnax from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Professor Aronnax is observant, rational, and biased to his own beliefs. His character has to choose logic and science or humanity. In the story, he chooses his humanity, but what if Arronax (ARG) chose the opposite? Logic and science over her heart?
Not really theory but I like how you can tell which screenshots were fake based on their health bar. And also their descriptions ig but it's easier to point out the hearts instead

this has been simmering in my head for a good two hours, so i thought id get it out there before the anniversary ends. i love monster high, but the design for jackson jekyll and holt hyde is um, something else.
this is Henry Jekyll Jr: the grandson of Henry Jekyll Sr (book jekyll), aspiring alchemist, lived next to and studied humans, created a formula called HJ7 to get rid of his "monstrous" traits. Instead of turning him into a human like he planned, he managed to split his soul in two (this is before he goes to monster high)
he's always had this strange fascination with humans that none of the other monsters really understand, but he is still passionate about science. i thought itd be cool to have a reversed concept where monsters and mad scientists is the norm and being a normie is abnormal. this leads to jekyll struggling to connect to either side since he feels he can't be either or
then you have Edward Hyde 2.0 (THE ORIGINAL HYDE JEKYLLED HIMSELF): idk man he just wants to party
he doesn't really hang around the school too much (he thinks its boring) but he's still pretty passionate about science. He looks like a normie and though monsters "tolerate" him, like Jekyll, he's kind of alienated and bad tempered. most students dont really like him too much actually (he's prbably gotten into fights)
he'll spend his time partying with normies, going into town, causing trouble. Occasionally, he'll hang out with Rachel or go back to his dorm to work on a passion project.
i havent thought too much abt the other characters besides lanyon = vampire, frankenstein = exactly the same. idk i thought itd be cool if henry looked like the monster instead and was trying to fit in with humans while hyde looked like a human who wanted to fit in with the monsters

Hyde talks out loud/to himself all the time and Jekyll's picked up the habit
At this point they're both too stubborn to just get new hearing aids
Jekyll lost his hearing from natural reasons but Hyde fucked his up
Jekyll will read his papers out loud for Hyde to review and Edward starts out like it sucks shut up shut up I hate you so much I am going to call the cops on you if you keep talking about fucking chemistry and eventually turns to actual feedback as he picks up more terminology
One day Hyde is bored and Jekyll won't talk to him cause he's reading and Hyde is like at least read out loud damn and falls asleep while Jekyll reads treasure island :)
Jekyll has like a million alarms throughout the day that wake Hyde up from various naps and Hyde loudly has sex on purpose while jekyll's trying to study
I have no idea where Hyde works in this au but Jekyll goes to college either as a professor or student
Robert is unreasonably jealous that Edward can talk to Jekyll whenever he wants and its unreasonable because Jekyll is about to commit murder suicide on this man
Rachel thinks its so nice that her friends are friends now :) (screaming and cussing from the next room) theyre friends :)
All of Jekyll's coworkers think he's constantly on call with his lawyer or ex wife or someone he's really pissed at
None of Hyde's friends have noticed a difference XD
Before they met irl, Hyde wanted nothing to do with Jekyl til he heard Zozi barking and was like i need your exact adress now actually
He refers to Zozi as "their" dog and Jekyll hates it
Also anyone who wants to build on this is so so welcome!!
idk im not an expert on how hearing aids work but maybe jekyll and hyde have VERY specific/custom hearing aids and it could be called "Model HJ7" or smthn which is why they cant get new ones???
if there were (hyptothetically) some kind of wicked au of the glass scientists with (hypothetically) jekyll as glinda, hyde as elphaba, lanyon as feirro or whatever his name was, would it be better to make jekyll and hyde seperate people??????? or like come up with a different system bc its jekyll and hyde and their whole schtick is that theyre one in the same?? would you guys want to see smthn like that???
or maybe jekyll as elphaba and lanyon as glinda?? and then hyde is the manifestation of evil/wicked witch of the west???
also frankenstein as the teacher lady i cant remeber her name but anyway i watched the movie and it was super cool. it makes me wanna be an actor just so i can live in the set

oooo if i do go with jekyll as glinda and hyde as elphaba, i like the idea of lucy as oz! And the forty elephants could be the flying monkeys??? as for the plot, i'm mainly just taking inspiration from the musical and movie. it pretty much follows the same story but with a few changes

BUT! I believe that this is the only way tgs can end happily (but yk its still a theory)

yea i hate to break it to you guys but this is the face of a man who is NOT coming back from the mindscape. UNLESS THERE IS NO MINDSCAPE TO RETURN TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 If they remerge, it will bring Jekyll back to his original self to face the consequences of his actions (i.e hyde) and he will have to learn that no sweetie splitting urself in two isnt a way of coping
