My first time on silks in nearly 2 years. It’s an absolute miracle.

I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to my stellar orthopedic surgeon as well as my incredible physical therapists.

This time last year, I truly truly believed I’d never be able to climb a silk again.

Y’all. I’m home.

Surgery Updates 8/19

Things are going pretty good! I haven’t made many posts cause I was mostly doing boring things in physical therapy to regain range of motion.

But I’m about 3 months post op now and have been cleared to go back to ballet and lift light weights. I am so overjoyed.

Feels crazy that after so much pain for so long, just 3 months post op I am doing well enough to do overhead presses, lat pull downs, and go back to light dancing.

My surgeon says he used to work for Cirque du Soleil and has done these procedures for other aerialists. He feels confident I’ll be back up in the air eventually, no problem.

Modern medicine is insane.

Update: surgery was a success!

Still not allowed to lift anything, but I’m getting some good pseudo-PT in via Wacca at the arcade. Not cleared for DDR or Dance Rush Stardom tho 😞

As promised, my straight arm invert! Now to squash that microbend in my legs.

Well. Here’s the move that took me out of aerial-and all physical activity for that matter.

After many doctors and a lot of physical therapy, we’re certain that on my first straight arm invert, I dislocated my shoulder momentarily and popped it back in on the swing down. I didn’t even notice anything was wrong. Over the next few months my shoulder got tighter and more painful.

In 3 weeks, I finally get surgery to address the issues caused by this. In 7 months, I should be working out again. By 2024, I might be in the air again.

Aerial is so hard on your shoulders, it’s no joke. I will probably not be doing any straight arm inverts or one arm roll ups in the future, just to preserve it after surgery.

Maybe I’ll post again during my recovery.

Not a fantastic update, but I’m set to start a rigorous PT schedule soon. New doctor I’m seeing wants me there 4x a week for the next two months and if I’m not improved by then, shoulder stabilization surgery is highly likely

well, my shoulder isn't better but I have an MRI scheduled for next month, they're worried I might have torn something.

I guess don't expect many new posts for a couple months.

finally acquired steroids from my doc for the bicep tendinitis and its already feeling so much better 😭
