Allison became obsessed with silhouettes after she was introduced to screen printing at the age of 13. She was amazed how something cut out of a paper could represent a picture clearly and beautifully. She revisited this technique durning graduate school while studying to be an elementary school teacher, after brainstorming ways to teach students about light and shadows. Allison comes from a theater background and considers plot, characters, and setting when creating each of her puppets. Her puppets speak through their body language, and though frozen in one pose, seem to express various emotions depending on the scene. Each puppet is designed and hand-cut by Allison and takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to complete.
