Rules Amendment

Character Retirement

If you feel that you’ve completed a characters’ biography plot and wish to retire them, we ask that you approach the mods to discuss. We will review your character’s plotline and either approve or deny your retirement request.

If approved, you are required to write an “after” section to your characters bio, telling what your character is doing after retirement. An example can be found here.

You have the option of writing any selfies you wish to really bring your character’s story to a close, but after submitting the after section your character will be retired and the bio will be shifted accordingly. Once a character is retired they cannot interact with other characters on the dash, however, we do allow owls and letters submitted directly to the character’s inbox.

If denied retirement and you no longer wish to play the character, we recommend you simply drop the character. It takes considerable development to warrant retirement. We want to see you develop your character and give them a full plotline before we will seriously consider retiring them and closing them off for good.

Also, once a player leaves the roleplay, we reserve the right to reopen their retired characters at our discretion.

Rules Amendment

Reaudition Process for Lost Character

If you lose a character to activity and wish to audition to get them back, let the mod team know. In this situation, players are given an automatic 24 hour reservation on the character. We will not accept any other audition for the character until you have also submitted your reaudition. Please be sure to let the team know you are working on an audition so we do not accidentally give the character to someone else.

The requirements for audition are different for a reaudition. We still require a para sample and 3-6 headcanons. However you do not need to answer the HC questions as you've already answered them when you first applied for the character.

Cal Chino– Calcifer, Howl’s Moving Castle

Cal is a mess of contradictions, and that’s just how he likes it. A people person who craves his alone time, he is determined to be the center of attention and keep his own secrets at the same time. The best part about following so many contradictory impulses is that he can guarantee that people only learn what he wants them to learn. For the people who make it into his circle of trust, he’s a loyal friend. Whether or not he ever tells them is a different question. However, he doesn’t mind making himself useful to the students around him, as long as it’s for the right price. Of course, sometimes the price only makes sense to him, but he doesn’t care. It’s all about what matters to him.

Of all the secrets he keeps, the biggest is his love of fire. His first sign of magic as a child was accidentally lighting his least favorite shirt on fire the day he was supposed to wear it. As soon as he started learning magic at Hogwarts, he found out as much as he could about fire spells as possible, practicing them in secret so he’d have a chance to stare at the flame. Then, over the summer he was approached by someone from a group called the Nihil. They complimented him on how amazing his fire spells are, and if he joined them, he could do even more. He didn’t pause to think. Ever since, his fire spells have been growing steadily larger and larger, which is exactly what he wants. Unfortunately, his control hasn’t increased with his powers. He’s become more and more addicted to the feeling of power that comes with his spells, but if he isn’t careful, he’s going to lose control is a big way. And when you play with fire, someone gets burned.

Hey All,

As a reminder we at Fairytale Hogwarts have some important deadlines coming up for the new school year and now’s a great time to get your character engaged in some new activities for plotting, as well as ensure their ages and years are all up to snuff before school starts.

Due August 26th, 2017 - OPTIONAL

Activities and Extra Curricular Submissions ::

Prefects, Head boy, Head girl, Quidditch captains and Quidditch players, Dueling Captains and Dueling players are included.

You may submit later in the year if a desired position opens up, or if you wish to have your character join up later. Be aware, however, that those who submit now are given preference for the upcoming year, assuming there are no plots to swap positions or lose titles later on.

Due September 1st, 2017 @ 11:59 EST - REQUIRED

Age and Year updates ::

If your character was picked up on or after April 30, 2017 you do not need to bump up the age or year of your character. You do, on the other hand, still need to send us their name confirming this detail.

Those failing to do so will be unfollowed. As always, exceptions will be made for those on hiatus.

A scheduled activity check for the upcoming year while we work on our lists.

With summer nearly over and school just around the bend it’s time to gather ourselves and prepare for the new year! What this means for Fairytale Hogwarts is updating of all the lists and activities within the school. 

As this is for the new year, we request all submissions be turned in to the main no later than August 26th. Anyone who doesn’t comply by this date can still apply for positions later in the year, but they will be overlooked for those who have submitted by the date. All submissions must be titled with your character’s name.

Extra-Curricular Submissions

Prefects - Per house, per year the boys and the girls dorms get to choose which person will take responsibility above the rest. If your character would like to be a prefect for their year, please include it in your submission.

Head Boy / Head Girl - Head boy and Head Girl are positions reserved for 7th year students and there is only ever one for each across all the houses. If your character wishes for this position, please include it in your submission.

Quidditch Submissions

Player - There’s a team for every house and many roles on the team. If you’d like a position on one of the Quidditch teams, please include what position your character would like to play within your submission. Returning players for returning positions, or those with specific positions within their bio get preference.

Captain - Each house has a captain that takes on training the others, setting practice times, and so on. Captains are typically 7th years, however if your character is going into their 6th year they can put in for the honor of having the position. However, if a 7th year requests it, they will get first pick.

Dueling Club Submissions

Captains - Captains of the Dueling club are not age-restricted like Quidditch captains are, however those who are higher in year do have a better chance of being a captain than those who are in a lower year. If you’d like a position as Dueling club captain, please include it in your submissions.

Players - Each house has a team of duelists for the club that participate in weekly sessions for training as well as tournaments hosted during the year. If your character wishes to join their house dueling team, please include it in your submission.

*** Extra Note *** For specific positions if we receive more than one applicant for that position the mods will decide which character is most likely to receive the reward. Characters that have lower academics will be passed up for those with higher academics for leadership roles such as Captain, as well as Head Boy/Head Girl, and Prefects.

As most of you know, both the Scolla Stone and Scrapwitch have reached the students at Hogwarts and become a part of their daily lives. It’s no surprise the muggle love of social media has leaked into the wizarding world and we’re embracing this new trend with open arms.

When creating your character’s scrapwitch page you’ll find the link for the code HERE. We suggest you use a square image format for any posts so they’re not stretched weirdly. Some webpages that are helpful for cropping photos can be found HERE and HERE.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you ever want to link a photo from the FH Scrapbook to your characters scrapwitch, there is a feature in the code to link to a website. Details for using this feature can be found under the read more below.

Can current TAs stay on in their positions after their first year is up, or do they have to find other jobs? If they don't have to leave, would they be allowed to simply change subjects in the coming year?

Considering TA positions are a sort of internship for those who wish to eventually become professors or go into education, a TA position can be continued for characters who wish to stay. Of course, we encourage that the use of these positions is due to interest in the subject, the willingness to become a professor, or a character’s personal arc. If it’s simply a reason to continue having them around the area during school time, we would like to offer the opportunity to come off of anonymous to message us privately. 

We are more than happy to help you figure out other careers or jobs in the area for your character to participate in if you wish to keep them active around the Hogwarts community as a whole to finish their character arc, but your character has no intention of ever becoming a professor/going into education.

June 3 Graduation is Here!

Congrats to all of our 7th year graduates. Some of you will be moving on to bigger and better things, while others will move on to become TA’s of our fine school. We wish you luck in your future and hope you become successful and proud alumni of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

A brief announcement:

All Graduation writing challenges and after sections are due in no later than June 6th at 11:59 PM EST. Those who fail to complete their graduation writing challenges and after sections by June 6th will lose their characters FOREVER. That means no reapplying, no begging the mods, nothing. Gone forever and opened back up for anyone to pick up.

It’s important to note that the way we will be checking this is in the #fhwcgrad tag on tumblr. Your writing challenge MUST be shown here for it to count. 

Incredibly important note about tagging:  the mods have noticed a “feature” of Tumblr that nothing over 5 total tags will be shown here. Please do not put over 5 tags maximum on your graduation writing challenges or they will not show. IF they are still not showing up in the tag and you have correctly tagged them, please contact the mods and provide us with a link to let us know. Yes, that means double-check that your graduation writing challenges are featured in the tag.

If we have a 7th year we'd like to be a TA next year do we have to message the main or just state this in their after section?

We’d really appreciate it if you could message the main first! This is partly to make sure that we don’t promise any TA positions to people that you are hoping to have, so we can hopefully avoid conflicts before you write your after section. In addition, it gives us the chance to make sure that everyone is picking a reasonable starting job for your character - no one is going straight from school to being the top journalist of the Daily Prophet. So again, we like to catch that before it creates more work for you. Thanks for checking!

Something is wrong... And maybe this isn’t a prankster after all? No one is really sure, but it seems that this isn’t good. In the afternoon, nearly a week before exams, there was an explosion in the library. Books went flying, students were screaming, and wands were at the ready to protect those around them but it was no use. The explosion was it, no sign of what might be causing it. While no one died, some were hurt by the falling bookshelves, and what might be worse, the library were rendered unusable until they can clean things up. But hopefully that will be before exams and the library fixed before the coming school year.

This writing challenge is for ALL students and it is optional but HIGHLY HIGHLY encouraged. Was your character injured by the explosion? Were they among the chaos of the explosion? Maybe they were outside but heard it and ran into help or even ran away? It is up to you!
