When you start viewing Armand like a teenager (as Assad said we should) literally everything he’s ever done makes sense. That’s why his decisions are so bad and he’s so impulsive.

He’s 517, but physically he’s 27 (but he’s also possibly physically younger than that and doesn’t remember) but mentally, he’s still that teenager Marius bought from the brothel. Sometimes you look at him and how he’s acting and he’s just so Amadeo. That’s why he often looks like a kid playing dress up in his dad’s clothes and why his mood changes so quickly. The abuse froze him as a kid even after he entered adulthood and then vampirism froze all that trauma and trapped him there forever. He never really left Venice. He never really will.

the thing is it IS arun in that episode. armand is walking around like a lost child, afraid and alone, begging for people to hear him out and accept him and not hurt him, taking all abuse given to him because he feels like he doesn't have options other than take it or run away, which he also does. until that last scene with daniel. he pushes daniel off him. he snaps at him. he condescends to him. he tells an honest truth and he's insecure about it but it's not the same kind of insecurity we saw earlier in the episode. he feels comfortable enough with daniel in that moment that he becomes armand again.

Can't stop thinking about Lestat asking Armand to help him.

And Armand, knowing from the start that Nikki was too fragile for the dark gift doing what had to be done.

He cleans up Lestat's mess.

Lestat asks Armand to be the "monster," and Armand does what his lover asks of him. Because that's all he's ever known.

He serves.

Because in Armand’s traumatised mind, love has to be earned.

But whatever he does, it's never enough.

Lestat.

Louis.

They make the mess, and he cleans it up.

Then they resent and hate him for it.

He's seen too much.

Then along comes Daniel.

He sees Armand and loves him, not in spite of his monstrosity, but because of it.

DM is the most romantic pairing in the entire Vampire Chronicles canon, and nothing will ever change my mind about that.

Daniel's FACE when he says that. The sad, wistful little smile? The longing? The last time we saw him talking to Armand it was "WhErE dOeS tHe BuLlShIt StArT, aRmAnD, aMaDeO, aRuN!?" and now he's yearning with the best of them? Everyone around him disappears and it's only them?

the interrogation scenes in iwtv with armand and daniel back in san francisco is probably the most intimate torture scene ive watched ever. the dichotomy of intimacy and mental anguish and prodding condensed into a few scenes is beyond comprehension. i would expect the feelings it evoked from something like a slow burn but not so sudden. it wasn’t as physical as it was mental, but it boarded on INTIMATE. thank you anne rice even though you hated us fanfic writers

I really didn’t like Vol2, and I didn’t like the finale either. So now I’m kind of rewriting Season 5!! I’m genuinely devastated they didn’t use an apocalypse theme for the season— that would’ve been so cool.
