just realised it was never explained why daniel assisted in the talamasca getting to louis during their dinner date. at the time i put it down to the talamasca threatening him with something since daniel seems genuinely unhappy to be doing it, but that's never hinted at or brought up again. so maybe we have to put it down to a dick move? but why would daniel make a dick move that doesn't benefit him in any way? he lost louis even more than he already had and gained nothing in exchange

maybe this is just me as I shake armand around in my mind but I dont particularly love how they used "rest" in the third season? like its not just that it was used a lot, it was used a lot last season too, its just,, it feels like it was made out to be his superpower that makes people kill themselves whenever he wants? which is. not?? how it was Ever used last season. if anything, the one thing it did was make people pass out or force them to relax physically and mentally. even in THE rest scene with danny in San Francisco, its never a "kill yourself" thing, its a "be calm and hold onto that feeling as death approaches" much like santiago's "no pain" bit. whyyy did it become his suicide-superpower? why make something so simple and in moments beautiful so,,, idk, silly? lame? why take "you will feel no fear and no pain as I bring you death" turn into "lemme mind-trick you into suicide rq :D"

the thing is yes armand would give daniel whatever he wanted and more. daniel was the devil's minion and he granted his every wish. but looking at the set up of dm this season i don't think they get that that isn't WHY daniel loves him.

when daniel says "i am the devil's minion and he grants my every wish" he isn't saying it because it's a good thing. all the wealth that armand was showering him with towards the end of their relationship mostly made daniel uncomfortable, he kept running away and drinking too much and sleeping rough even though armand made him a multimillionaire with a private island, because he knew that all of this was just armand trying to distract him from the one wish that daniel actually wanted (becoming a vampire), a wish that wasn't granted until daniel was dying. hundreds of fanfic writers have already proven that it's possible to adapt this story (which is one single chapter btw) to fit with the show canon of daniel now being an old man. literally all the pieces are right there; armand can erase memories, armand erases unpleasant memories "for your own good" but sometimes if you try hard enough those memores come back, armand knows a little bit too much about alice. how do you fumble this??

So, I’ve been hearing that there were no Black writers involved in the process of creating The Vampire Lestat, but I didn’t know that at least one of them, A. Zell Williams, had essentially been ghosted by the show’s producers. 💀💀

I’ll link his substack article about his experience here, but for arguments sake, let’s just say that this has nothing to do with him being a Black man whatsoever, and that it’s just a major coincidence: the producers, and those in charge, still look pretty bad!

The writers of this show, and many others, are treated as disposable. If a show employs a new creative director, that person has the power to just “let go” of the people who they believe don’t match the new vision that they have. Not only that, but A. Zell Williams wasn’t even given the courtesy of a phone call, or someone pulling him in to give him a heads up that he’s been let go. They just…stopped talking to him. Like, again, even if you don’t agree with the theory that all the Black writers were let go on purpose, the people in charge of everything still treated him like shit.
