Oui, I brought him to the headquarters to give him a change, but he must have gotten out of the tank. He’s a little under a metre long, or 2 and three-quarters feet,and he’s yellow and white.

Arthur sighed inwardly, He wasn’t looking forward to what may ensue.

“Nothing is up, really. Just wanted to speak with you on the matter of your promotion.” Arthur began simply and bluntly. He had danced around the subject enough, and it was uncharacteristic of him enough to do that and invite Arlo to his house. 

“Do you think you will be… fine, in your position ?”

Arlo gave a curt laugh, “I think I will do fine, but only time will tell, yeah?”

Of course he was only saying this because nothing drastic has happened, and the Rats run independently of a leader. Of course he would try his best, but as he said only time will tell.

Ugh, whisky. Arthur enjoyed his scotch more, but he supposed whisky was much cheaper considering the location they lived in. And while people may presume that the two were quite similar, Arthur must insist that they are not. But, despite his opinions on the drink, he pulled a bottle out of his liquor cabinet (there only due to his foresight of what Arlo would want, honestly).

After procuring two glasses and filling one with whisky (the other with water) he returned and handed the whisky to his brother, seating himself at his armchair and gesturing to the loveseat.

“I suggest you sit, I have no idea how long this talk may last.”

Scotch whisky is the best whisky, but he was not going to be picky about where the whisky came from. Arlo admired the decorations of Arthur’s house, or lack thereof, and found his way into the living room.

He listened to Arthur’s suggestion and took a place at the loveseat, and rest his arms on his knees and his head in his hands. “So... What’s up?”

He simmered down with his chuckling “Yeah, cos I’m always in the buildin’. He says I’m loiterin’ or some shite. And duly noted. Won’t happen again.”

Arlo said that with a wink and a nod. “Again, I sincerely doubt he would want me to work with him.”

Dakota paces for an hour before he reaches a decision. He sits down with a sigh and seizes a sheet of letterhead. He pauses before writing a few lines, folds it, and puts FOR THE RAT KING on the envelope after sealing it shut. It takes longer than he'd like to find Arlo's home though when questioned he will claim he followed the wails of winos. He tapes the letter to Arlo's front door and leaves. The letter reads: Your ban is lifted. Please use the facilities with respect to other patrons. - D.

[Probably way more giddy than he should be] Yes! God! Thank you!

[ a package of about book size (the book being "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie) is delivered to Arlo's residence, with an envelope on top containing around 500$ and a note saying: ] While we still may be on bad terms as of the moment, I still feel some kind of duty to send this to you. Enjoy the money, since I know you will enjoy it more than the gift. Sincerely, Arthur.

Of course there’s no return address.

Some people join the mafia for a deep an’ gritty reason. Others are just lookin’ for work and could leave when a better opportunity arrives.”

“Come now, you’re goin’ to be all quiet about yourself then turn the table back on me? That’s hardly fair, lass.” Arlo gave a dry chuckle, followed by another sip at his whisky. The grin developed into a smirk “I’ll tell you mostly anythin’ you just have to be more specific.”

“That’s a better question, but the best would be askin’ what I didn’t do. Somethin’ about not takin’ my job seriously or he probably got fed up with me smokin’ in the building. Probably the former though. Any other questions?” His job being leader of the Rats. Which he is definitely doing a great job of.

Lelia wondered why this man was so free with his information, especially since he used to be in the mafia. Secrets were important in that business. Maybe that’s why he left?

“Why the fuck would-” He stopped and thought about what she asked, then started to giggle and trailed into a chuckle. Arlo held back from howling with laughter “You think- You think I could work for my brother?”

“Oh, that’s rich.” Wiping any tears from his eyes, he cleared his throat “Sorry, luv. Even if I applied I doubt he would hire me, I’m apart of another organization.  Canny help you with how tae impress your boss.”

“I joined for a ‘deep reason.’ I’ll leave it at that.” She didn’t want to talk about her past, not with a stranger. Lelia had avoided condolences and pity for this long. She wasn’t going to let that change over a few drinks with this man. That said, she did find his relationship with her boss interesting. Despite saying she didn’t care about her coworkers’ persona lives, she spoke up again.

“Fine, I’ll bite. What did you do to make Arthur kick you out?”
