Scandinavian tales and creatures
Näcken is a beautiful young man who can be found near, or in, streams and rivers. He is eerily good at playing the violin, and anyone who hears him playing will become enchanted and lured into drowning themselves in the waters. He is however willing to teach his skill to humans, but it comes with a price; anyone taught by Näcken will become enthralled by their own music when playing, unable to stop unless someone cuts off the violin strings with a knife.
mythology aesthetics: valkyries.
valkyries were originated from norse mythology, best known for their assistance of the god odin in battle. the name “valkyrie” originated from old norse; the word “valkyria” meant “chooser of the slain.” typically female, they would choose who would win and lose in battle, including which soldiers would survive and which wouldn’t. in rarer occasions and older myths, they are associated or depicted with creatures like ravens, swans, or horses.

Scandinavian tales and creatures
Trollefolk, also simply called troll or vittror, are not that different from humans, though they live secluded lives deep in the forests. Some of them have the tail or horns of an animal, which they keep hidden when others are nearby. They have their own farms, keep cattle, get married, and work and live just like humans. However, they are capable magic users and not part of the Christian community, and are therefore shunned and feared.

"My.....it has been an eternity since last I received a visitor and even longer since one of my own kind dared to look upon my face." Alexia whispered. "What can I do for you."
Scandinavian tales and creatures
Maran is a nightmare in human form. When out searching for a victim she has the shape of a black fog, able to get through the tiniest keyhole or a crack in the window. She targets sleeping males and, taking the form of a young woman, she will sit across the man’s chest and ‘ride’ him. This renders him unable to move and gives him dreadful nightmares, and sometimes Maran will kiss him, giving him bloody sores around his mouth.
