Nether Years
Fan art by me, digital painting and photobash
It's no secret that Gale's story is still one of my favorites in Baldur's Gate 3. A genius choosing between a great destiny and idea, and a quiet, happy life. What went through his mind when he picked up Ketheric's netherstone? At what cost could he decide not to retrieve the crown from the riverbed?
this took me like a week to complete and i kept having to stop cause i would get so mad about mystra's existence while drawing her and would end up ranting. fuck mystra.
also if y'all don't follow me on Instagram, please do, i post stuff from my own playthrough and more bg3/bloodweave related stuff.
i also do comms!! if anyone wants me to draw their tav, I'll literally kiss you on the mouth. (obviously im more than willing to drawing other stuff too lmao) just shoot me a dm on insta (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Corruption
Gale of Waterdeep and Professor Gale Dekarios (now with tenure!)
Qualifiers: Mirage Dragon
Smash
Pass
The Mirage dragon is a vain dragon that loves deceiving others. They have scales that change to camoflage them, thier breath causes hallucinations, thier fins can dazzle you with a display of colors, and they are experts of taking advantage of the distractions they create. They're also masters of illusion magic, some of which they can use infinitely, and eventually turn invisible at will! And when I say "experts" I mean that in-lore there is an entire villiage that is just an illusion with a couple workers, made by one dragon just to for the fun of it.
If they go further with thier magic they like spells to meddle with minds like hypnotize and enthrall and confusion. Also more utility spells like turning into vapor or making objects float and move around.

All of my Baldur's Gate 3 character portraits from last year and this year. I am trying very hard to make my fanart look more like my tattoo work, which I will definitely post more of here as well!
"should we tell authors on ao3 when we have discord conversations about their fics" i don't speak for everyone here but if y'all ever find a group chat discussing my fics you can should must and WILL send me screenshots of the whole damn thing. inflate my ego. gimme
Started a Wyll Origin run and spent like an hour going through my mods to pick out cute fits for myself and my crew. I imagine a very disappointed and annoyed Mizora just watching me play dress up instead of hunting Karlach :'D
"Whatever you need, you have only to ask."
He's ready to hear your Xmas wishlist.
My contribution to the Bloodweave Inn Secret Santa event on discord. Giftee liked black and white and battle scenes, so incorporated both of those. Wanted to include some ying/yang iconography and was inspired by the black and white knight series by Dominik Mayer. Gift for @syrupwit

Reached Wyll's pact decision point in my current BG3 playthrough and told him to re-pact himself and save his father – the first time I've done that.
When I went to speak to Gale his response was 'Time and again, Wyll's plight reinforces my decision not to pursue the path of a warlock.'
And then I immediately had to stop the game and go write a fic.

Pros and Cons of Becoming a Warlock
Pro: More power. Obviously.
Con: Power doled out at whim of potentially unpredictable patron.
Counterpoint: Would surely be able to strike upon some sort of mutually beneficial arrangement. One in which more power for me would be in both of our interests.
Con: Mum wouldn’t like it.
Con: Nor would Tara. Nor Elminster.
Con: Elminster would probably have rather a lot to say on the subject. At a length to rival one of Professor Quendi’s lectures on Calishite modal expressions.
Pro: Could stop attending Professor Quendi’s Calishite lectures altogether on grounds that practical application is more beneficial to warlocks than theory.
Query: Does Blackstaff Academy even allow warlocks? Wouldn’t want to miss out on Professor Olaug’s classes on energy manipulation. Or Professor Taylor’s on fundamental Weave theory. Or
Pro: Eldritch Blast clearly a more versatile and powerful offensive cantrip than Ray of Frost or Poison Spray or even Fire Bolt.
Pro: Devil’s Sight also useful. Could read books in bed at night without Mum coming in to tell me it’s three in the morning and time to go to sleep.
Query: How does one go about approaching a potential patron?
Potential solution: Surely the Blackstaff owns at least one text on devil summoning. Multiple texts, even. Been meaning to see if I could get round the abjuration charm on his office door in any case.
Con: Negotiating with devils never turns out well for people in the stories.
Counterpoint: People in stories always remarkably stupid. Never even ask to read the fine print on their contracts. Or clarify blatantly obvious loopholes in the terms.
Pro: Could Eldritch Blast the smirk off Alastair Throckmorton-Pole’s poncy face next time he tells me I’m a jumped-up little brat who’s only taking advanced classes at the Academy because my mum’s no better than she should be (note to self: still need to work out implications of latter part of that statement. Obviously an insult but not entirely clear exactly what it denotes).
Con: Creates an opportunity for Alastair Throckmorton-Pole to tell me I’m a jumped-up little brat who’s only taking advanced classes at the Academy because my patron gives me power.
Counterpoint: Does Throckmorton-Pole possess the necessary mental agility to pivot to a new insult? Tiresome repetition of existing insult suggests not.
Con: Would, in fact, have more power not because I’d worked for it but because it was borrowed from my patron.
Query: Would I even be able to tell which parts of my power were me getting better at magic and which were just a reward for my services?
Con: That reminds me: I’d have to provide services of some description. Patron would almost certainly be uninterested in services that involve me going to the classes I like and Eldritch Blasting my nemeses.
Con: Elminster keeps hinting that if I work hard and don’t get into too much trouble I might be allowed to meet the Lady of Mysteries one day. Becoming a warlock likely his very definition of getting into too much trouble.
CONCLUSION: Not worth actively pursuing. Reassess decision should a patron pop up at any point to ask for my services.
The galemancer discord has a Secret Santa event currently. This is my gift for one of my giftee, posted here with their permission 😄
ohhhhhh boycott. i thought you guys were talking about boycunt. yeah. no yeah i'll still see you on the picket line it's just,. sigh......
your MIND
EVRART CLAIRE - "Mr. Du Bois, I assure you, I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about! I can't even bear repeating it. Now, look, Mr. Du Bois, you *promised* me that you'd help out with the Union's little boycott. I know you're a trustworthy man. You *are* a trustworthy man, aren't you?" He raises a sluggish eyebrow at you.
PERCEPTION (HEARING) [Heroic: Failure] - Oh no. You've got no idea whether you heard it right. You listened to that pleasant first syllable and then let your mind fill in the rest.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Trivial: Success] - I know what I heard. He's holding out on you -- press him.
1. - "Oh, boycott." (Proceed.)
2. - "Let's talk about that *boycunt*."
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant groans slightly. You're sure you heard *that* right, at least.
