The scary thing about “The Puppetmaster” episode is that the Southern water tribe clearly used to be ten times it’s current size. Smaller than the North for sure but comparable. If Aang hadn’t shown up they’d have probably gone the way of the air nomads.

I don’t know how I didn’t notice this before, but look behind their heads. I think it’s supposed to be the Sun but the imagery is exactly that of the Halo behind the head of Jesus and other saints in the catholic church.
